Festive Overture Drill
Some drill I wrote to Festive Overture from Phantom Regiment's 2001 show. This was just for fun and practice. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated :)

I originally wrote this as a baritone ensemble for the Utep Marching Miner Regiment baritone section. This is my arrangement of that piece for a full drum corps hornline.
Cadet's Rocky Point Holiday Transcription

This is my attempt at transcribing Cadet's Rocky Point Holiday. I had to do some guess work at some of the 16th note runs, but I think it sounds ok. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for listening!
Phantom Regiment - Fourth Ballet Suite Transcription
มุมมอง 14K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's my attempt at transcribing Phantom Regiment's 1996 opener: Fourth Ballet Suite by Dimitri Shostakovich. I welcome criticism, but if you're going to criticize, please do it an a way that will help me get better at transcribing. Don't just comment to say "The chords are off at some parts". I know they are. I'd be quite surprised if it turned out absolutely perfect. Other then that, I hope ...

Pictures at an Exhibition, Alternate Ending
มุมมอง 1.3K16 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a drill I made for the Clint High School marching band in Clint, TX. They are playing their show, "Pictures at an Exhibition" arranged by J. Klarfeld. I didn't feel like the ending was exciting enough so I wrote my own. Although I'm still not sure how I'm going to get from the previous set in the drill to here. Please give me your constructive criticism.
This and another song I can’t remember the name of make up my show this year; it’s called Angels vs Demons
Where can u get the scores to create one
I marched another corps in 1996... and this was my FAVORITE drill... how everything started so sparsely and the contras were highlighted and everything slowly tightened up until that red guard was stuck in all of that black... brilliant.! Got me every time I got to see it.
It's definitely my favorite show both musically and visually. I really wish I could have seen it live.
Could you send this score to me please?
We're doing this song at MHS... it's awesome.
This is very good. I see you posted this a couple of years ago, so I'm sure your skills have sharpened a little more by now. The only thing I would have done differently really is some of the guard staging. I would have integrated them more a little bit within the brass and percussion. Especially during those fortissimo impact points. But overall this was really cool.
Not Canon - it's based on SANCTUS.
The piece is called SANCTUS.
The piece is called SANCTUS.
its in the right key. some of the voicings are wrong and the runs are not even close to right.
can you sent me the sheet please to bastiaan_jong@hotmail.com
yeah the middle run is a bit off...close though....
over the years theyve switched the trumpets and mellos around
Played this on the field my freshman year, the 7/8 time was interesting. But it was a really fun piece to play especially on trumpet.
This piece is called Canon. Wheather its in D, E, Eb, in this case Bb. It doesnt matter. This arrangement is an arrangement of Canon in the key of Bb. You are pretty naive.
I believe its a g# on your rendition
Hey, the 7th measure on the 10th page...the lead sopranos play the same note(s) as they did in the 5th :)...try that out.
jtrevon13@yahoo.com
I must please have a copy of this
@TheEuphonator Yes it is. The name of the piece remains Canon in D. Pachelbell gave it that name. So this is Canon in D, transposed to another key.
dude this was epic. I got chills.
i agree with everyone else who asked for the score. can you please send me this?
I love it however....Its not really "Canon in D" unless its in "D" just saying....
erm............. it doesn't sound right
where did you get the software for this or what's it called?
weird all of the songs your have on your channel my CHS is playing them?
@Skimpyrex Someone else asked me the same thing and I told them yes, but first I need to fix the beginning. (I should have done that before I put it up on youtube, lol). But yes, I'll send it your way as soon as I have time to fix it.
awsome dude! think you could send me all this? score and individual parts?
That's pretty impressive! Is there someway i could get a hold of that piece!? My guys would enjoy playing that!
@Flogginmolly1203 I'm using Kontakt 3. And yeah, you can get it for sibelius, but it is a little on the expensive side... Other than that, you could look on the internet and find a torrent for it. Not legal though.
What sound library are you using for your playback? And is there anyway I can get a hold of it to use with Sibelius?
OHHHHH. just the beginning is in the wrong key. The last half or So is perfect! Great job!
Great job, but it is in the wrong key. I looked, I think it's one chromatic semitones too high. Maybe a whole tone. Maybe transpose it and re post it? I'm REALLY interested.
Yeah, the lead trumpet at the beginning throws off the beginning chords, but after that, it's actually pretty close.
no fair were doing this song this year!
Some of the chords are a little off, but it's not bad. And as for it not sounding right, this is more along the lines of the beginning of the 2003 show, not the warm-up version. The show version does end this way.
@VMFA115Starloric I'm pretty sure it's in F. I know the beginning is off. I struggled with it because in the recording, it sounded like the mellophones played the run up to a Bb, but the next chord is B natural, so it clashed... I couldn't figure it out, so I changed it up a little... Other than that, I'm almost positive I wrote it in the right key...
I thought it was another Chs :/
@contranimal Yeah, they do in the finals recording, but I heard some other recordings from encores that they did and they switched it around. I thought that made more sense so I went ahead and did that.
also a heads up contras play first ,,, then the sopranos , then the mellos
@Trombean Where the euphoniums come in...can't really read the measure number... 5th page, last measure. On second inspection, you do have it, just not all of it. :P My apologies.
@niteblaze102 Yeah, it figures, lol. I had the hardest time trying to hear the bari/euphonium part from the finals recording. Could you be a little more specific and let me know where to listen for this line?
You're missing a lot of the euphonium parts :P Listen carefully. Hint: There are two 8th note like parts in the euphoniums, just have to listen carefully.
not too bad, but id double check on some of the chords and part distribution. and i know what im talking about, my school played it note for note phantom regiment
@adkii07 Thanks for your feedback! You're right, the guard intervals are a little tight and that's something I should work on next time. Thanks!
