Great suggestion! We are constantly looking at ways to improve the Nyx Tracker without increasing the cost. Do you have experience upgrading your Nyx Tracker with a metal hinge? Can you share with other users how you did that? Listing a part number/URL would be a bonus.

@@nyxtech2264 I'm still looking for a stainless steel replacement,the trick is to get one that fits in the existing hinge cut out,to save time rejigging the design,most of the ones i've found would need the cut out to be lengthened to keep the distances and geometry correct,which unfortunately requires more rejigging of the other internal components. I'll keep you in the loop,my DSLR (Canon EOS 600 and 85mm F1.8 younglou(?) lens is a bit too much for the 3d printed one,(It works,but i'd like a bit more oomph!)

I too has same issue, hinge is making tracker little bit unstable. Looking for metal hinge but, not able to find one which can fit directly. Any sucess in finding right hinge replacement?

Hi! A piano hinge is made of metal and has very little float. The original printed one broke off. Another suggestion is to have the spring hooking to the side (I did it to a nail head on the north side). Much easier to reach and offers a bit of side/up pull against the weight of the camera, specially relevant at high latitude (as the camera hangs on the other side).

Hi Ian, the main difference between Gen4 and Gen5 is that Gen5 uses a more reliable alignment laser that can operate in colder temperatures. Other minor changes speed up assembly time.
