What does it COST to cap a window frame . can't seem to get an answer?
lot of factors i charge around 100/ window just labor
That acts as a trap for water to accumulate and freeze in the winter. It's never a good idea to have anything blocking the flow of water existing the bottom of a window
How did you install the J channel?
Awesome! Looks great. I'm glad I found your channel. Going to watch your videos and hopefully see how to put on those J channels. Window looks amazing!
Hi there, I have an old Fixer-Upper that I'm trying to learn and do some of this work myself. Do you have a video on how you replace the J channels for the siding on this job? For some reason I'm unable to find how to replace DJ Channel without taking down the siding
If a novice followed this , they would end up with bad cuts. Cut up and then on an angle? Bad demonstration
Hi Slimmm, the folks that normally watch the videos I put up are usually in some type of carpentry or building trade etc... thanks for watching and your comment, len
I just got quoted $300 to coil wrap my small windows, $600 to cap regular size, $800 to wrap my large. Isn't that hundreds too high per window????
Hi Ashley, I can only tell you to get a couple of different qoutes, I hope this helps
Not paying for each window your paying for the knowledge of the person doing it.
@@cjellis4006 you are paying for their brake.
@stevesmith6665 not really you can find a cheap brake online. I do that work for a living
@@cjellis4006 Hi I thought I replied but I cant see it now. I was wondering if it is OK to use a 48" brake and overlap the vertical ones? My windows are taller than 48". Do you have any cheap brakes you would recommend? I looked at harbor freight el cheapo I think it was under 100 and Menards has a malco for 500 that looks pretty nice. Thanks
thank you for videos like this
Where in the world do you buy this material? You're working with what looks to be the exact color and pattern I'm looking for!
Same here and I can't find it either!
Talk radio, it used to be called, "Wedgewood blue" I don't have access to this channel, I didn't know there were comments on these videos.
It is from a place called Superior, in Blackwood, NJ
you must just be replaceing windows the sideing was there allready. wondering how you were going to j channel the window
Hi cheif, on the channel I removed the top and bottom pieces of siding, and installed a drip edge too, while it was apart. Thanks
Yea I was thinking the same.
Here because I've been installing windows for a year now and i got everything down except putting up trim so this is my raise and i appreciate your effort.
Billy, I hope this helps, I can't access this channel now, thank you.
Could I ask you a question now I have Windows that I would like to replace but I would like to do it myself. Do you have an email
One of those videos that requires the viewer to take dramamine.
Good idea. Looking good as well. Is that the 2x4 ?
Hi Oak, that wood is 5/4" Eastern White Pine, 5/4" measures 1 and 1/8 thick. Thanks Len Edit 3 and 1/2" wide
Very nice
Thank you Quotes, len.
I’ve built many roofs over bay windows and the easiest way to cut your plywood for the flankers is using 2 tape measure’s, works every time
Thanks Bob, len
Sometimes you have to hack your way to victory. I have never seen one of those done the same way twice. Should be fine.
Thanks Steve, it is fine that job is 2 years ago (or more)
If you pop the pieces free a grinder makes super fast work. Snips are a summer thing but with our winters here a grinder is king
Grinders are great, except the particals
at 3:39, I used to bend that flap right after I put the aluminum trim in place, it's probably better to do it that way.
Talk to me about water management ports that weep 😭 any rainwater that becomes trapped?
A small bead of clear geo-seal after aluminum trim is on. Added, thanks QST. good question against the vinyl clad on the master frame of the window unit, I hope this helps, len
@@lenhart8487, how do you channel away from the window opening any water 💦 that does penetrate the barrier?
Instalación de zaire asemos forchs de todo tipo de remodelación de casas
Would love to see the finished work with j-channel.
hi Bob, thanks for watching I'll see about getting back to get another vid of the completed job.
Where can I find that at?
hi Doug, what were you looking for, can you be more specific? Thanks, Len
I think I know what you mean the "covering material" is aluminum trim coil, I custom make it on the job, I hope this helps.
@@lenhart8487 too bad they don't sell this it looks great! nice job
thanks Drk, Len.
They do sell it. Its aluminum coil @@DrkAssassin313
Cool video... the camera man needs some work... ha ha
GreatWaterCircus, I can't complain, the camera work was free
GreatWaterCircus, you win the best comment...
That nailing patter looks weak
Hi James, they are screws, thanks, len😊
Hi, did you cut the original siding to fit the 5/4 trim boards? how did you fit the siding trim, is the siding trim nailed to the sheathing or the 5/4 boards?
For the j channel, its able to be nailed back to the sheathing 4:55
griz, i can tack the j-channel to the sheathing or the 5/4, it was vinyl, and it was loose, or unlocked, but still on the wall...
griz, I was able to answer your 1st question on the 1st comment, I hope it helps you, thanks for the comment, Len
griz, yes I cut the siding to the 5/4" boards, but I allowed for the 5/4 width measurement off of the new window frame, the siding was cut on the wall with shears/snips, so not to damage the underlayment paper (typar)
please see other channel, Len David Hart.
