Because we’ve all sinned against Him, and criminals, just like in our court, get sentenced. How do you know you’ve sinned? Because God is so holy and righteous, that anyone that is even a little unrighteous, can’t even be near God. And God is goodness and love itself, so you will end up in hell, eternal prison, because of your sins. But there is good news! Because, because of Jesus, there is a way to be with God in heaven. John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life. Jesus came down to earth and died on the cross, so that we can be made righteous. Because of His sacrifice when we turn away from our sins (repent of them, confess and forsake them) and trust in Jesus Christ! Because of His sacrifice our debt can be paid. It’s like when we did a crime and we got fined, but Jesus already paid it for us. Now all we have to do is repent of our sins and trust in Him and then we will be righteous in the sight of God, because we now believe in Him, and we will be made new! We will hate sin and hate our old life and we will start living for God and receive His Holy Spirit! Because Jesus is the ONLY way, truth and life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6) And after His death, Jesus rose from the dead and defeated death! He has overwon death and will grant us eternal life, when we repent and trust in Jesus Christ!
