Nice one. I'm waiting for same wheels and tires to arrive with a red injora motor. I was thinking about the same shocks, let us know if you manage to soften them up.
The tires are super sticky and hook up really good. I did get the shocks to soften up I put a little oil on the shaft of the shocks and it softened them right up! Thanks for stopping by

Is this a good beginner for crawling? I'd like a starter that's capable and eventually easily upgradable
Yes it is capable. It runs very good stock. It is very easy to upgrade.

Embrace the hardbody! It's a beautiful truck. I aged and rusted mine. The Meus axles are a nice upgrade that lowers the CG.

I just bought one and I had a really hard time finding someone with a build video and that shows a upgraded motor with the frame
Only thing you have to do when upgrading the motor is cut one post off the battery tray I put a 050 size motor in and it's longer then the stock size

It's a little faster but mostly has more torque than the stock motor
Love the look on the wheels i might get them for my gladiator
That are really nice and they add a good amount of weight down low. They are also vented as well

Are those the Ghost beadlock rims?I didn't know they have them in red. Do they have them on the blue?
Yes hobby soul has them in red blue and black on the white jlu it has a set of the blue ghost rims

When are the mods starting? Maybe an all torque brushed motor build? Strictly for challenging obstacles and terrain? I just got into the Crawlers and have a scx24 Wrangler. I'm making a crawler, but sticking with the brushes motors to challenge myself and hone my crawling skills in Little Moab.
I've been away from the shop I installed a few mods on the power wagon. I have a 50 turn injora pro brushed motor in it currently. It also has 39mm shocks. Ive only had a chance to upgrade the stock servo to an emax. The jlu is my personal favorite scx24 I've built two different styles
I had to add a good bit of brass down lown to keep mine from flipping over if it just looked at a sidehill wrong 😅

Need limiting straps
It might. It depends on if it gets changed to having long travel shocks. It currently has 39mm oil filled shocks on it. It sits a little tall with the shocks mounted on the frame
