New Drive Motor Fan On A Gravely ZT 48XL
มุมมอง 4092 หลายเดือนก่อน
Replacing the drive motor fan on a gravely zero turn mower. One of the bolts holding the drive motor sheared off, causing the drive motor to shift. The fan moved forward and contacted the frame and all the fins broke off the plastic fan. The parking brake wouldn’t go on, and that’s what prompted me to look underneath, finding the broken bolt. The mower is a 2015 or 2016 Gravely ZT 48XL #mower #...
Cleaning Hay Out Of A Century Barn

Filmed late 2023/early2024. We started cleaning the old hay out of our barn in preparation to jack up the sinking roof and replace the portion of the wall that's missing. We bought this farm property in 2022 and we've been slowly working towards fixing it up to use it as our wedding venue. If you're interested in seeing more barn repair videos we will be doing a whole video series covering all ...

the problem is getting screw out , its spending
That is an art that not many people understand. Great skidder and cutter man that can get along and understand each other's hand signals. Can get shit done in a hurry. Its beautiful thing. But you need a landing loader. 😃Nice clean work fellas!
@@jasonhart1802 we kinda made up our own hand signals and that seemed to work well lol thanks
“my gummy bear taste like gravel”😂 haha great video!
I miss the part with the rebar

Um for anyone watching - NEVER use Spray 9 on any part of your car. It's extremely reactive and caustic - it will damage your clear coat - and bleach your vinyl and rubber. I do high end detailing and ceramic coatings and I made the mistake of using spray 9 and I damaged a few different vehicles.
@@forg0tten I e used spray 9 on lots of vehicles in the past and never had negative results but I’ll be careful of that from now on, thanks for the heads up
Put some anti-seize on the threads so they don't get stuck.
@@Motor_Cackle I’m a huge advocate of anti-seize, but I never use it on stainless. Maybe I should start
@@ericbrinson9741 For sure, you messed up the threads on that first bolt.
@@Isarddubois the wrench fell off the back of it and I was trying to do it with one hand and hold my phone with the other, but yea I can see how it looks like that
@@ericbrinson9741 Until recently, I thought stainless would prevent seizing, but then I learned the hard way that stainless is prone to surface welding. Watch this video for an explanation: K9BPhwnyxAU
Actually makes more sense to have studs rather than putting in bolts
My question is since you didn't show it in the video when using a impact to take the bolt loose that holds the fan on did you just zip it off with the impact or did you also have to hold the spindle under the pulley or something and then zip it off with the impact?
@@biggpimpn2u I realized I didn’t explain it, but I held it with an oil filter strap wrench. If you watch the video again you’ll see the handle of it sticking out between the tire and deck. You could loosen the nut before you take the belt off, but you wouldn’t want to take it all the way off with tension still on the belt
That rear differential looks very similar to the one in my homemade tractor project. I wonder if it's an Eaton?? I've been trying to identify mine.
Where did you get the fan? Also, what part number is it?
@@RyanGriderDTP the Gravely dealer where the mower was purchased was able to order one. I’m not sure about the part number. If I find it I’ll reply to your comment again
@ericbrinson9741 Gotcha. Was is in store or online?
@@RyanGriderDTP in store. Where are you located?
@ericbrinson9741 located in north Alabama. We bought one off of a relative that needed repair, but the matenience guide isn't being super helpful. Considering the fan we need has to be raised to fit on the pulley, but the part number on the manual doesn't match the dimensions.
@@RyanGriderDTP oh ok I’m in Ontario Canada. The dealer had a couple different fans in stock but they weren’t raised enough and had a different flange, so he order the right one. Can you see a part number on the fan anywhere

@@AnythingGasoline the cutting edge ended up flat with the bottom of the bucket but it was curved outwards. The middle of the cutting out was further forward than the sides but it didn’t affect the usability at all. It turned out pretty good and I never had an issue with it.
Looks like it has been cut before in there ! Getting a little thin
Avec du beau bois comme ça sa doit être payant $$$$
It must be hard to make these small jobs work as were I am in NS 10 acres on selective cut only produces a load of veneer and three loads of sawlogs on a real good cut
It certainly is, especially with the wood market
Nice machine, 648 or 748?
I think it’s a 748, the decals are gone but it’s bigger than his other 648
@@ericbrinson9741 sweet, I had a 748 dual arch not long ago. Couldn’t cut by hand with it very great in pulp but it would pull like a bastard behind the buncher.
@@johndowner9295 it used to be a dual arch with no winch but he needed a cable skidder at the time so converted it. It pulls crazy hard too
I know this video is four years old, but i'm hoping you'll see this and might have an answer. did you do the oil change on the other side? i'm running into a similar problem with the plugs but haven't been able to confirm the type of plug. the right side had a hex head bolt with an o-ring, while the left side had what looks to be npt pipe thread plugs. a specialty fastener store came to the same conclusion, while bobcat and an aftermarket final drive supplier states they are not, but rather number 4 oring boss plugs. any assistance with this is greatly appreciated.
The right side had a bolt head style plug with an oring and they came out fine. I’m not sure what thread or pitch they were tho. Try to find a bolt that will thread in the hole, to determine the thread size/pitch. As long as the plugs on yours don’t leak you don’t really need to replace them, unless the heads are wrecked
@@ericbrinson9741 thanks, it took a day of searching but after pirating a parts catalog i found that bobcat parts is awful and that in fact their catalog shows two separate plugs, and the parts department couldn't be bothered to search any further than the initial attempt. I'm guessing this is why you had the wrong plugs delivered. If you need it in the future the plug part number is: 6680019. Thanks again for your quick reply.
Fuckin right woody

I hate to see tire chains that are loose you are wearing them out and costing your self money
Yes I agree, I have since tightened them and they’re nice and snug now. We were trying to beat the warm weather and finish that bush while there was still snow on the ground
How is the paint lasting with no primer?
It’s still holding up well. Ive used primer before on other projects before painting and I don’t think you end up with a finish that lasts any longer or bonds better. It depends what your painting too though
Great sledding vid! Hard to believe but this past winter makes the one before look great!! Nice cottage and footage along the way.👍👍

Hey Eric, just came across your channel and subscribed! Awesome content!! Keep doing what you and Sarah do!!👍👍
Thanks for subscribing!
what fun I just love wood
I hope you put as many back as you cut. 😊
Hard maple is a species that naturally regenerates. No planting will take place here but new trees will continue to grow. The younger trees there in the understory will have more room and sunlight to grow now to become the mature trees of tomorrow
At maine ? Rock field 😅 but big trees 😊 grappe série E and skidder g 2 or 3
Just a few rocks, it’s a 648E
Those are good type of choker sliders you are use but you got them backwards on your mainline hard on the mainline next time time the mainline breaks flip them so open side with the pin is facing the skidder lot less wear on the mainline
Ic you call them bells
Yes they ended up backwards, the day before we changed the mainline and didn’t realize they were directional. Found out the hard way… They’re on the right way now so no more have broken. If a tree gets stuck behind a stump or rock the chokers just snap now lol
Some of those logs might have came to me
Yes they very well could have lol
Just did my new xmr in fluid film figured cant hurt
Nice, I like fluid film. That will definitely help protect your bike from rust
Good ole spread footings. Guaranteed to crack. Nice work.
I was hoping for some epic crashing through the ice, but I'm sure the branches softened the fall. What did you do with the wood? Turn it into lumber?
Yes someone with a saw mill took the wood
That looked like the best tree on the property, why cut it down? Was it blocking light from reaching the house?
They built a new deck and installed glass panels for the railing. When the wind would blow, pine gum would get all over the deck and glass panels
@inson9741 To each their own, but I'd rather have a nice tree and wind break.
Interesting situation and cool to see your approach
Our original plan didn’t work but we tried this and it ended up working out well. Having a block on the loader like that with the loader all the way up, and pulling sideways with the truck has the potential to flip the tractor, but with the light loads we were pulling I never felt unsafe.
That ice anchor was brilliant ... in the summer it would have had to have been a boat :)@@ericbrinson9741

Hey eric, I remember watching your original video. Looks like it’s holding up great. I’m in Kawartha lakes would you mind sharing where you got it galvanized? Interested to do the same.
Hey Dylan, sub zero sandblasting is in Colborne and they blasted and did the paint work, then Land B Welding in Brighton sent the frame to get dipped. Their shops are only 5 min apart, and sub zero was kind enough to drop the trailer off to L and B to save me 2 hrs of driving

No wire ?
Do you mean wire mesh? The concrete has fiberglass fibers mixed in and it’s supposed to do the same thing as mesh
Get it running
Not homemade per say but has a few transplants. The actual skidder it's self is an old Franklin they were pretty common here in NY back in the 60s to the 80s most pulpwood guys had them. Usually by the 80s you'd find them with any engine that ran in them, I've had them with automatic and standard trans my last one had 2 4 spd standards in it. I'd actually like to get my hands on another one but over the years they've been scrapped during the scrap rushes we've had.
Thanks for the info, I had no idea it was a production unit. I’ve never seen one like it before
