I love to ponder on the example; How Qarun or even Firon were given abundance and some prophets were not. Verse 9:85 makes these statements clearer. Other statements we should not turn our faces away from those who believe and are in low money or wealth. And let neither their wealth nor children impress you ˹O Prophet˺. Allah only intends to torment them through these things in this world, and ˹then˺ their souls will depart while they are disbelievers." 9:85 - Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran May Allah guide me and may Allah guide you.

Lecture Notes on Non-Financial Rights of a Wife Upon Her Husband Introduction The lecture addresses the non-financial rights of a wife over her husband, emphasizing that these rights are as important as financial rights like dowry (Mahr) and financial support. 1. Living with Goodness Quranic Reference: Allah (SWT) commands in the Quran: Surah An-Nisa (4:19): Arabic: وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ Translation: "Live with them in goodness." This verse highlights the importance of treating one's spouse kindly, even in challenging times. Concept: The husband must exhibit patience and kindness, even if there are difficulties in the marriage. The potential for positive outcomes from challenging situations is emphasized. 2. Patience and Forbearance Prophetic Guidance: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) instructed men to be patient with their wives: Hadith: "Take care of the women, for indeed women are created from a rib." This indicates the need for understanding the inherent differences between men and women and acting with kindness rather than resorting to harshness. Implication: If a wife acts foolishly or causes conflict, the husband should exercise self-control and refrain from seeking divorce hastily. 3. Kindness and Playfulness Importance of Joy: The relationship should include moments of joy, laughter, and playfulness. The Prophet (SAW) encouraged men to marry someone with whom they can engage in playful interaction: Hadith: "Marry someone young so that she can play with you and you can play with her." 4. Avoiding Harm No Hitting or Humiliation: The rights of the wife include being free from physical harm or humiliation. Prophetic Advice: "Do not hit the face." Principle: Resorting to harm should only be a last option, and the husband should strive to avoid actions that humiliate his wife. 5. Mutual Respect in Speech Avoiding Negative Speech: Both spouses should avoid derogatory language or insults. Hadith: "A man should not revile his wife." Respectful communication is essential for maintaining a healthy relationship. 6. Teaching and Religious Education Right to Learn: The husband should facilitate his wife's learning about Islam and her religious obligations. Prophetic Guidance: Women should not be prevented from attending the Masjid to learn their religion. This emphasizes the importance of mutual growth in religious knowledge. 7. Moderation in Jealousy Jealousy as a Natural Emotion: The Prophet (SAW) stated that jealousy can be of two types: Good Jealousy: When it stems from legitimate concerns for one’s spouse. Bad Jealousy: Arising without cause, which should be avoided. Balance: The husband should maintain a moderate attitude towards jealousy, ensuring it does not lead to unnecessary conflict. 8. Just Treatment in Polygamous Situations If the husband has multiple wives, he must treat each fairly and justly regarding time and resources. Prophetic Warning: A man who shows favoritism will be marked on the Day of Judgment for his unfairness. 9. Avoiding Suspicion and Spying Prophetic Guidance: The Prophet (SAW) forbade men from spying on their wives, as trust is a cornerstone of the marital relationship. Summary The non-financial rights of a wife are deeply rooted in kindness, respect, education, and moderation. The teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) emphasize the importance of treating wives with goodness, patience, and understanding while also ensuring that both partners work towards a harmonious and loving relationship. This lecture serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with marriage and the importance of nurturing a respectful and loving environment for both partners.

Here are detailed notes on the rights of the wife over her husband, based on the lecture covering from “The rights of the wife over her husband” on page 51 until "Maintenance" on page 52. The notes include relevant Hadiths and Quranic verses in both Arabic and English. Rights of the Wife Over Her Husband 1. Financial Rights Mahr (Dowry) Definition: The Mahr is the wealth or money that a husband must provide to his wife at the time of marriage, serving as her property. English: "And [prohibited to you are] married women, except those your right hands possess. This is the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, so long as you seek them with [money] and desire chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [them] as secret lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers." Hadith Reference: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The most blessed marriage is the one with the least burden.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, 1845) Maintenance Definition: The husband is responsible for providing the necessary maintenance for his wife, which includes food, shelter, clothing, and any other needs she may have. English: "Mothers may breastfeed their children two complete years for whoever wishes to complete the nursing [period]. Upon the father is their provision and their clothing according to what is acceptable, and no person is charged with more than his capacity." Hadith Reference: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “It is enough sin for a man that he neglects those whom he is responsible for.” (Sunan Abu Dawood, 2928) 2. Non-Financial Rights Respect and Kind Treatment Definition: The husband must treat his wife with kindness, respect, and compassion. English: "O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]." Hadith Reference: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The best of you are those who are best to their wives.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, 1856) 3. Emotional and Spiritual Support Definition: The husband should support his wife emotionally and spiritually, providing a safe and loving environment. Hadith Reference: The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: “He who does not show mercy to our young and does not respect our elders is not one of us.” (Sunan Abu Dawood, 4943) Summary The rights of the wife over her husband encompass both financial and non-financial aspects, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect, kindness, and support. The Quran and Hadith underscore these obligations, reinforcing the significance of upholding these rights to foster a harmonious and loving marital relationship.

Notes for Seerah - Lecture 16 | Shaykh Assim Al-Hakeem | Zad Academy English The Battle of Uhud Context and Prelude After the Battle of Badr, where the Quraysh lost many of their key figures (such as Abu Jahl), the Quraysh sought revenge. A year later, under the leadership of Abu Sufyan, they began gathering resources to attack the Muslims in Madinah. The Quraysh gathered an army of 3,000 warriors and marched towards Madinah. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) received news of their approach and, as was his practice, consulted with his companions about the strategy. Consultation and Preparation The elders of the companions advised the Prophet (ﷺ) to remain inside Madinah and fight defensively, as Madinah was naturally fortified by mountains, making it difficult for the Quraysh to invade. They also suggested street fighting where women could assist by throwing objects from rooftops. However, the younger companions, eager to gain the honor of fighting and possibly achieving martyrdom, advocated for meeting the Quraysh outside the city. The Prophet (ﷺ), although inclined towards staying in Madinah, eventually agreed to march out after the younger companions insisted. Once he donned his armor, he declared that it was not befitting for a Prophet to remove his armor after it had been worn in preparation for battle. The Muslims’ Army The Muslim army initially consisted of 1,000 men. However, Abdullah ibn Ubayy, the leader of the hypocrites, withdrew with 300 of his men, leaving only 700 Muslim warriors to face the Quraysh. Positioning at Uhud The Prophet (ﷺ) positioned the army near Mount Uhud and placed 50 archers on the mountain with strict instructions to not leave their positions under any circumstances, whether they saw victory or defeat. The leader of the archers was Abdullah ibn Jubair (رضي الله عنه), and he was tasked with ensuring that the archers maintained their posts. Initial Success and the Fatal Mistake The Muslims began the battle and quickly gained the upper hand. The Quraysh started retreating, leaving behind spoils of war. Seeing the Quraysh flee, many of the archers disobeyed the Prophet's (ﷺ) command and left their posts to collect the spoils. Despite Abdullah ibn Jubair’s (رضي الله عنه) reminders of the Prophet's (ﷺ) orders, the archers descended, leaving their position exposed. The Quraysh Counterattack Khalid ibn al-Walid (رضي الله عنه), who had not yet embraced Islam, was leading the cavalry of the Quraysh. When he saw the archers abandon their posts, he seized the opportunity and attacked the Muslims from behind, causing chaos in the ranks. The Prophet (ﷺ) was physically injured in this battle: his tooth was broken, his cheeks were wounded, and a ring from his armor became lodged in his skull. Martyrdom of Hamzah (رضي الله عنه) Hamzah ibn Abdul Muttalib (رضي الله عنه), the Prophet’s (ﷺ) uncle, was killed during the battle. The flagbearer of the Muslims was also killed, along with 70 other companions who were martyred. Regrouping and Victory Despite the confusion and near defeat, the Prophet (ﷺ) managed to regroup some 30 companions, and they successfully fought back, forcing the Quraysh to retreat. Abu Sufyan, realizing the unexpected resilience of the Muslims, ordered the Quraysh army to flee back to Makkah. Lessons from Uhud The Battle of Uhud teaches the importance of following the instructions of the Prophet (ﷺ) without question. The disobedience of the archers had devastating consequences, nearly leading to a total defeat. The battle also highlights the significance of unity and discipline within the Muslim community. A small error by a few can have a profound impact on the entire Ummah. Quranic Verses and Hadiths Mentioned Quranic Verse on Obedience: Arabic: "وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَاصْبِرُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ" Translation: "And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient." Translation: "Whoever obeys me has obeyed Allah, and whoever disobeys me has disobeyed Allah. Whoever obeys my leader has obeyed me, and whoever disobeys my leader has disobeyed me." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Notes for "The Battle of Badr" Lecture (Page 67 - 69) The Battle of Badr The Battle of Badr, fought in the 2nd year of Hijrah, was one of the most significant battles in Islamic history. This lecture covers important aspects of the battle and its lessons for Muslims, highlighting its divine support and the obedience to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Context of the Battle The Quraysh, the polytheists of Makkah, had amassed a large army to attack the Muslims in Madinah. The Muslims, though smaller in number, were confident in Allah’s help. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had 313 soldiers, whereas the Quraysh had around 1,000 fighters. Quranic Support for the Believers Allah reassured the Muslims of victory and divine assistance through various verses of the Quran. Allah says: Quran (Al-Anfal, 8:9): "Remember when you sought help of your Lord, and He answered you, 'Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another.'" This verse clearly shows that Allah sent angels to support the Muslims during the battle. Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on Divine Assistance The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had also received revelation about the assistance of the angels. In a narration by Umar ibn al-Khattab, he describes how he saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the day of Badr: Hadith (Sahih Muslim): "I saw the Prophet, peace be upon him, standing in the tent, invoking Allah continuously for the victory and divine assistance." The hadith highlights the Prophet’s reliance on Allah and his constant prayers for the success of the believers. The Miracles of the Battle During the battle, the Muslims witnessed many miracles that reaffirmed their faith in Allah. One notable incident was how a few Muslims were able to defeat multiple enemies. Another significant moment was the appearance of angels on the battlefield, helping the Muslims in the fight against the polytheists. Quran (Al-Anfal, 8:12): "When your Lord inspired to the angels, 'Indeed, I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike them upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip.'" This verse highlights how the angels were commanded to support the believers and fight alongside them. Lessons and Takeaways Reliance on Allah: The Battle of Badr was a clear sign of Allah’s support for His true believers. Despite their small numbers, the Muslims won because of their complete trust in Allah. Obedience to the Prophet: The Muslims followed the commands of the Prophet (peace be upon him) without hesitation, which was a significant factor in their victory. Unity: The battle showed the importance of unity among Muslims. They fought together as one body, with their hearts attached to Allah’s command. The Role of Dua (Supplication) The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) made intense supplications to Allah before the battle began, showcasing the importance of dua in times of difficulty. His dua is well-documented: Hadith (Sahih Bukhari): "The Prophet raised his hands and continued making supplication to his Lord, saying: 'O Allah, grant me the victory that You promised me. O Allah, if this small group of Muslims is defeated, You will not be worshipped on Earth after this.'" This hadith highlights the profound reliance on Allah for victory in the face of overwhelming odds. The Aftermath of the Battle The Muslim army was victorious, capturing 70 of the Quraysh and killing another 70. This victory was seen as a turning point in the Islamic movement, increasing the morale of the Muslims and shaking the confidence of the Quraysh. Quran (Al-Imran, 3:123): "And already had Allah given you victory at Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful." This verse reminds the believers of the victory that was granted to them at Badr and encourages them to remain grateful and conscious of Allah. Conclusion The Battle of Badr serves as an eternal lesson of reliance on Allah, unity, and obedience to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Despite being outnumbered, the Muslim army emerged victorious due to their firm faith and the divine support they received. It stands as a timeless example for all Muslims to have trust in Allah, especially in the face of adversity.
