Porsche Club of America race at New Jersey Motorsports Park/Thunderbolt Raceway. Running a 2016 GT3 Cup in the Spec GTC6 class. Overall wins in every race and fastest lap of the weekend. First time racing in 4 years and in a 'brand new' car.... lots of cobwebs to shake off but still an entertaining video.

NJMP Thunderbolt Lap Record for PCA 1:22.931 Ended up P1 in GTC4, P3 overall. Aiming for low 22, high 21's next time.

PCA Summit Point 2013, Sprint #2 Started P1 in GTC4, P3 overall. Finished P1 in GTC4, P2 overall. Close call at 15min with a GTA2 car spinning in front of me, then have to battle it out with the lap record holder (Derek Schwarz) in a GT3R Classed car. Keep an eye in my center rear view at around 17min, the last 10 min of the race were very close.

Trying to run with the big HP guys, car gets hot, had a good gap on the others in my class so I backed off and just tried to finish the race.

Started 1st in class, had a bad start and got passed by two other cars in class. Regained 1st coming into 'the heel of the boot'. Put a gap on the other GTC4 cars and had some fun trying to chase the big HP guys. Car started to get hot from chasing them towards the end so I just took it easy and finished the race. Great weekend for the first time driving this type of car.

Very first lap of our, new to us, 996 GT3 track car. PCA practice session for the Grand-Am support race at NJMP 2011.
What tires were you running?
Pirelli DH slicks (just their hard compound… unfortunately can’t put mediums on the front for this class)
Now that's flying! What was your fastest lap? 1:20?
Thanks! This was the maiden voyage of the car for us & we used the weekend more of a shakedown/test day. Data showed mid :19’s to low :20’s… but I just couldn’t put it all together on the same lap! 🙄. 4 years of not driving surely didn’t help! 😂 Plus a very oily and green track with lots of traffic only allowed for :22’s Had a mid :21 the day before without as much traffic… but that was only based off the TrackAddict app, and it was having GPS signal problems from cloud cover. In my book that’s not really a confirmed lap unfortunately. I need to stick a Solo2 or something else similar in there. We’ll be back soon to crack the 1:20’s if weather holds up… I’m aiming for consistent :19’s but that might be a little overly ambitious. Biggest issue that needs fixin’ is the nut behind the wheel! The 991 is amazing and surely feels like it can run in the :19s without much fuss!

Tim H Love it. I "play" at NJMP in an Elise but picked up an 07 Cayman over the winter. Will try it in June with Schattenbaum. Just joined JSR PCA so maybe I will see you down there. Actually learned both tracks by watching vids like yours.

Thanks! Summit is a really fun track in the 997 Cup. My suspension is stock with penske 2-ways and Im running Michelin slicks 24/64 front, 27/68 rear.
watching this is great - I have to go to summit in a few weeks in my 997 cup. I will use this to try to get ready. nice driving. wonder what your suspension and tire choices are.
