somewhat raw & aged, brooding midi noise file packet. enjoy the excruciation;]
That section from 5:47 to 6:06 is just some wonderfully melodic stuff for just doing improv
The is the absolute pinnacle of guitar playing. It will never be matched.
This is the real deal. Bye Satch and Vai. Lol.
Almost cried, Shawn Lane is my all time guitar hero.
Master of taste. Master of haste. What a talent.
this reminds me why I'm not a big fan of him. The tune has a nice riff that could become a catchy pop song with a singer, but rhythmically it feel stiff and unexciting and the shredding at the end while incredibly fast seems quite forgettable in terms of phrasing and completely unnecessary, like "ok I'm a shredder I have to shred".
Bro is the audience actually cumming at the end? I mean i would be too
The shows he did in TX in '93 have equally impressive versions of Get You Back
Ah, now I see; that's why the guitar was invented.
Imagine being a kid student watching this in 93 and teacher is like ok guys for class today we are going to watch this guy Shaun lane band, and then watching this for a couple hours then never in your entire life ever seeing anyone come close to this on guitar ever again and you have to just go home like what did I just see
This is the stuff that is worth living for… no other guitar player like Shawn had me to tears. This perfomance is literally otherwordly, and impossibile to describe. Thanks for posting 🥲❤️🙏🏻
I think the lick at 6:32 is the crown jewel of this piece. It's a plaintive cry amidst the ferocity
It's a prefect moment in time, he never played it the same twice. This specific recording is magical.
Who is the Brazilian yelling at the end ??
Shawn is truly 1 of 1. Nobody’s music has touched me like yours thank you for everything. The greatest
Hay-yah! !
Shawn Lane, the Master of Improvisation.... great guitar man...in memorian
Just listen to this...
Shawn was such a technical monster, as well as a melodic virtuoso. Everything about Shawn was prolifically perfect. His chops, modal progressions, composition, melodic direction, and everywhere else his music could go before touching us in heart and soul! It is sad that his few live performances were recorded in such poor quality, fuzzy videos.
At least the audio quality is there :)
Different levels of dexterity. Oh my gosh. Speeches
Still awesome, RIP 🙏
I randomly (by accident mostly) come back to this video in every couple of years and be mesmerized by the sheer mind-bending performance by Lane. You must be on a different level, not just as an artist but as a human - to be able to play like this.
What an absolute inspiration
The Grand Master at his best is still relevant in 2024.
Bass line 2:26 🔥
Super nice, never noticed before
Shawn is sometimes underrepresented in this era of TH-cam virtuosos.
I graduated from MI back in 1991. Wish I could have seen this.
The new breed such as Mateus Asato and Matteo Mancuso are great in their own way and certainly Guthrie Govan who is extraordinary particularly at improvising but Shawn Lane surprises me every time I watch him. He seemed to have this ability since his teenage years coupled with a musicality that sets him still above most for me.
He was a god.
He was way better than god . Did you ever heard of the string theory? Ha ha
Maybe in about 300 years time musicians will look back and say “Hey, that bloke there from the year 2275, he was almost as good as Shawn Lane”…but somehow I doubt it…
This is definitely the best guitarist i have seen
Yes, he was the best anyone has ever seen or will ever see again.
Magical
Allan Holdsworth
All I can hope is that the people in attendance that day had the slightest idea of the sheer greatness they were witnessing and that no one in the history of the world would come even remotely close to this level of expressiveness ever again. Also the bend at 5:49 is undoubtedly the most amazing bend ever bended, it made me legitimately cry
and such a long lick on from it
RIP Shawn Lane I wish you could know your music has reached deep into the hearts of musicians even today
Simply the best. ❤
I still wonder why Shawn didn't get enough recognition.
1:33 wow that might be one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.
The greatest guitar performance known to man.
That guitar smoked 2 cigs afterthat work out.....
00:40-02:20 Imagine how it must feel to be able to express yourself so freely and easily. Shawn never ceases to amaze me. There aren't many people that have ever had such a gift.
Love the behind stepped timing at 6:23
Hell yes
The scream at the end tells you everything.
Is he playing a 750XL there?
yeah
Fun fact. I still hear the noice in my head after fixed the audio.
❤
spine tingling
I see what his secret is. It's so obvious that if I told you, you wouldn't believe me because you'd have to unlearn years of bad habits built into your muscle memory over time.
Watch and groove
@@Finewhether aww, someone needs attention so bad they just wrote a random response?

Wah. Do you play guitar.
@@Finewhether Yep
This is my first time checking out Shawn Lane (not really into shredders much) and I blown away. Even without the ludicrous technical ability, his expression, touch and note choices are just exceptional, just beautiful. The word underrated is thrown around a lot, but this guy is criminally underrated. Wow.
Matteo Mancuso.
Myself and friends of mine have been trying to understand whether this man was even human for like 15 years now
@@Yaas_ok123 Matteo is quite incredible :)
El nivel de precisión es letal 😮 y fuera de lo normal 😂😂😢😢😢
I first found Shawn when he started recording with Jonas Hellborg. At first I wasn't sure what to think as I was buying Hellborg for his compositions and didn't much care about the guitar player. By the time Personae came out I knew he was special and by the time he did Icon and the Paris DVD I knew this was someone far beyond the Shredder label and just a pure musician. I remember the day he died and I wrote on the white board at work 'Shawn Lane is Dead' and no one knew who he was but I felt it and goddamn I was going to let everyone know. I still miss him and the excitement I used to have for a new Hellborg album. Luckily they still sound awesome so go buy them all on CD and listen to them on repeat. Cheers.
26:00 to 26:32 is a realy out this world.
