มุมมอง 26K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Thank you for joining me on the presute to Great BBQ Here is the first look and review of my new Old Country BBQ Pits Pecos smoker and how I seasoned it. Let me know what your throughts are.
I keep the firebox door to my Grand champ cracked open all the time. U should put the bottom plate u took out back in your firebox. .... Subscribed
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
Should got a brozo
I run mine door wide open and open stack
I ABSOLUTELY love how some of you people feel you can give an accurate review of something. My advise....STAY OFF your little home cameras. A few little gaps here & there IS NOT gonna hurt your cook BY ANY MEANS.
I got the same smoker. But I had to add something he probably don't know. Don't ever ever ever use treated wood like the 2x4 stud lying there. It has been treated with cancer chemicals. Don't even use it in your Fireplace. It's no good for nothing except building something. '''''DON'T
Under corrosion if not painted properly, could cause a big problem!! Just saying. Water is not good. My opinion only!
They have a cast iron charcoal tray that fits perfectly from Tractor supply for $24.95, I wouldn't put coals on direct bottom.
Spray and a hot grill down with the garden hoses lost on me can you can you explain?
Not sure if you read your comments but I just watched a video where a guy evened out the temperature range across the cooking area by adding some stove pipe to the stack, it has more draw now. So far 16 inches of stove pipe seems to work best but he still needs to experiment with it to see if that needs to be adjusted. I haven't bought one of these offsets but I'm seriously considering this model, thanks for the video.
Your firebox is way to close to the deck siding, that’s a fire hazard.
Do not burn your fire on the bottom of the smoke box.
Kingsford I see...
Smoke over fire.......I'm undecided on the country pecos or the Oklahoma joes highland. The highland is $299.00 the pecos is $399.00 , in your opinion which one is the better bang for the $BUCK. And which one would you choose, please comment back, thanks.
Old C is a better design
Yes i hav the pecos and loving it !!
I have the highland and love it but if I knew about the pecos before I bought it I would’ve chose the pecos
I was looking at Oklahoma Joe's vs Old Country at Academy, I am going with the Old Country, it seemed to be heavier and made better.
And the water hose.....NO NO NO!!!
Definitely don't burn your fire directly on the bottom of the firebox. You're gonna prematurely rust out the bottom.
Gotta make a vid soon, Calvin! About to go pick up this smoker this week. Have you done a brisket on it yet
Had the same thing with mine, just kicked door in a little bit
You get what you pay for. It has a horrible draw and wood tends to smolder if you don’t have the fire box wide open...uses way too much wood...still leaks with gasket
Now that you have had it for a while do you still like it? Have you did any briskets yet?
Very informative video ..! ThankYou..!
It creates more pull with the small hole on the inside
You are asking for rust real early
Why would you wash of the oil that you seasoned the smoker with
Exactly
Gonna cause warpage!
good video !! keep them coming, i just got the reverse flow longhorn
I noticed, you built your fire right in the bottom of your fire box. Not criticizing you but that's going to burn your fire box out pretty quickly. I would build the fire in a fire basket or a grate.
Definitely agree. There needs to be separation, both for proper air flow and to protect the bottom of the fire box.
itll be for sale on facebook within a year for 50 bucks cuz a rust hole in the firebox
I wouldn't worry about the door closing. Best way to burn wood is with a mostly closed door in the wind rain or cold. Hot days would be opened all the way. Nice smoker on your hands there.

I would be worried about that on a wood deck. One ember and house fire.
Heck that firebox will get got enough to light it up
Nice review. A LavaLock gasket will certainly help. 💨
Nice video
They will not ship a old country smoker too cali😤
I am dealing with the same problem. Any chance you found the Pecos somewhere else?
@@chriswhitaker3659 no luck.. maybe offer up or face book market
Academy sports & outdoors doesn't ship to California?
@@TheSpeedracer555 no i try so many times. Something about prop65
Wow! That sucks! Someone is selling a used one in Santa Rosa Craigslist
Enjoyed your videos, you should make more. Its not about perfection, ignore any negative comments. Its educational and entertaining for people to watch stuff like this, regardless of the outcome. Everyone has their methods of bbq. This looks great and im sure it tasted even better.
You still enjoying the smoker? I was looking at that one
Those small gaps around the damper and lid sometimes settle back the way they suppose to after you season the smoker. Mine did.
Nice video!!!
Enjoy it and hope you make many tasty meals.
That looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Great job man! That was a huge shoulder!! I just switched from foil to butchers paper! I think I like it much better! Looked delicious man! Great cook! Subbed ya!
Thanks for your support. I agree butcher paper is a much better option. It allows you to keep the moisture in without losing the bark.
great job on the pork butt! came out nice and tender. great video and great tips- just subscribed look forward to more cooks and watching your channel grow- cheers
Thanks for your feedback and support.
Smoked Over Fire no problem at all !
good video you will be a good youtuber
Thanks for your words of encouragement
Looking to purchase one soon. Thanks for the review.
Don't purchase this one if you haven't already, it's cheap garbage...... the char griller Grand Champion XD is a way better grill heavier metal 1/8 in.thick ,comes with a fire basket everything seals good and cooks and smokes amazing
@@trevorbraden5448 I bought it last year. I love it personally. I went and inspected every grill Academy had in stock. Had to go in the stock room off the floor models to find one I liked. I cook alot of briskets and roasts on mine and haven't looked back. The only issue I've had is the shedding of the metal which I was warned about. But I did what another TH-camr said to do. I scraped all the excess shedding off inside, then seasoned it again with Bacon grease, and it fixed that. Also, I keep it covered always.
@@washington8395 yes sit...... thats awesome,....... glad it is working well for you...... I almost was going to grab one,and I was looking at the gravity feed ones and then I seen the grand champion xd and I'm so glad I got that one......It is an amazing smoker...... Happy smokin and grillin man
@@trevorbraden5448 Smoke on brother!
Charbroil isn't on old country pecos level.....only charbroil top of the line even compares if that even does.
Very good
