    By the way, what was the seed ratio you used? 50-50 or what proportion? I’m planning to use a ratio of 70% dichondra and 30% Dutch white clover

    • @HoustonGardeningNovice
      @HoustonGardeningNovice 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@oscardelarosa7198 I initally did a 50:50 ratio but dichondra is a much more aggressive grower than clover once established even though it starts off slower. In areas where I need to reseed I now use more clover maybe 60:40 or 70:30

    How often do you mow the lawn? I'm going to plant Dichondra repens. I hadn't thought about combining it with another seed, but after watching your video, I'm now considering it. Still, I think I'll start with Dichondra alone to see how it goes.

    • @HoustonGardeningNovice
      @HoustonGardeningNovice 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@oscardelarosa7198 Dichondra alone doesnt really require mowing since it grows very low to the ground and only gets leggy (3-5 inches) in shady areas. Because I have mixed in clover and grass, I mow every 2-3 weeks in the Spring and Summer and less often in the Fall and Winter

    • @HoustonGardeningNovice
      @HoustonGardeningNovice 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, you can plant once there's one root, which emerges after ~2 weeks. The second "root" (if it's lighter in color, it may look pink) is not a root, it will become the stem and it emerges later after another 1 or 2 weeks.

    Indeed, looks great. Same as for me, it didn't take over everywhere and the turf persists. I seeded two differ dwarf varieties, white and red flowers. Not sure if one will fight with the other, I suspect that the red will be less resilient. Can't wait for a decent lawn again.

    • @HoustonGardeningNovice
      @HoustonGardeningNovice 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the grass definitely persists but its much healthier with the ongoing supply of nitrogen from the clover. I imagine the white clover will be more prominent than the red variety

    I've started to reseed 500 sq metres with clover, just had two weeks of 35 C temperatures, all the cherries dropped and burnt an area, burnt patches from cat pee, and I'm sick of watering and mowing twice a week. Started to appear in just a few days, will seed more in September.

      You can definitely do it! I took my time and did it slowly over ~2weeks. Each quickrete 80lb bag was about $4.50 and I used 20 bags for both pathways, so including the other materials it was probably around $150 for this project.
