You’re right about Soi 88, I lived near the railway and Baan Khun Por end but have now moved to Condo 88 and love the area. If I’m right Bakery 88 have a small pop up stall outside Lotus’s in soi Bonkai near the entrance to Baan Khun Por selling the cinnamon rolls and other delights. It’s just by Amazon and Many’s the expat shop, so closer to town than the actual cafe.

The views and so much to see on the mountain ! I like that Hua Hin and Thailand is "rough around the edges" and so much to explore ! I live in a very upscale area and rules and regulations keep it looking new and kept, but I prefer what you saw on the mountain and the history and questions those buildings stir up :) Great Video ! A+

No, you don't want an electric gate. Opinions vary, but they can me more trouble than they are worth. My neighbour got rid of their's for that reason. Gaudy furniture? You're in Thailand, get used to it. Pay a lot more and you can rise above that, but for a rental property that probably won't be well loooked after? Anyway, good luck, but if you want to learn more, go to the local expat forum and ask those who have lived here for years and know all the pitfalls.

Pretty sure it is Market Village and you will find the Villa Market not far from there where there is plenty of Western food for sale. By the way your mum did not chose the wrong dish , if you have never been there before then even the stall you went to with the "large" lady could have been disastrous , it is just pot luck that your better half chose what you both consider a good stall.

The other restaurant just next to it up the road a bit is better

The food courts at Thai shoppings centre are incredibly good value, had one of the best Pad Thai's I’ve ever had in a shopping centre there. Great video.

I always feel like I can bring minimal clothing/items bc so much is more affordable in SE asia. I hardly shop/have clothes at home bc it’s so expensive to shop in Canada. I can’t imagine going thru all of our belongings and deciding what to store or bring tho, stressful but worth it for the freedom + adventure 👌

I dont know how long you have been living there at the moment but you were not respectfull toward the lady when you complaint everything streight to her face. She was smiling but you made her lost her face. You can make a video and show what is wrong and then tell her politely that you think the house is not suitable for you, thank her and leave. It seems you dont know nothing about cultural diffrencies there!!

I really appreciate this video. Amazingly informative. I have 1st hand knowledge of what its like looking for a place (to buy) in Hua Hin to the point where watching this was almost triggering😅. I'll add a few perspectives. We looked at Bangkok, Pattaya & Hua Hin as potential places to move & buy property. Hua Hin is by far the slowest. If you're coming from the West I highly suggest everyone consider quality of lifestyle as a main factor. As noted lot's of these developments are located in the middle of nowhere. It's about a 5-7 minute drive through the center Hua Hin & that's the only part thats walkable with shops, restaurants, bars & markets close by. Other than that you'd be lucky to find a 7-11 in walking distance of most these developments. One of the biggest advantages to Hua Hin is beach life. Hua Hin's beaches are cleaner and more beautiful than Pattaya (IMO). If you want to live the slow, relaxed life, I believe by the beach is how you do it. Basically if you aren't in the center of town or at the beach, you better love your home because you'll be spending a lot of time there. There's a fairly nice mall (Blueport) and great night markets (Cicada especially). Be sure to check the availability of Bolt & Grab (rideshare & delivery service) before renting or buying property. Also ask about transfer fees, flood zones, sinking funds, taxes and visa requirements as the last two are subject to change or be reinterpreted by the government. I know this was long but these were all things I wish I knew before going. All the best!

If you want to buy a house in Thailand, as a foreigner, then you are out of luck. You can't own land so it's condos only unless you want to set up a shady Thai company to own the land, but even that will still have to have majority Thai control and such companies are actively being cracked down on now. Buy a condo, or buy house and land in your Thai wife/Thai kids name. Should note that even condo buildings can only sell up to 49% of the units to foreigners. A long term lease on a house is possible for those that don't have a wife/child that can legally own land

Been and tried it, not too bad but wouldn't rave about it. There's an Indian Restaurant in Hin Lek Fai called "Atcha", be interested to hear your feedback on that if you ever get round to trying it out. Great Pizza at an italian called Dorigo, again in Hin Lek Fai.
