Revisit pop culture history as former People Magazine reporter Michael Small decides the fate of the treasures he’s saved for decades. The wonders of never-heard celebrity interviews, rare memorabilia, and maybe a little junk get shared as Michael and guests try to convince co-host Sally Libby to let them keep their stuff. Will it be an epic case of Swedish Death Cleaning? Or an epic fail? Listen to I Couldn't Throw It Out, and find out.
Swedish Death Cleaning challenge: Two violins
What happens when you inherit something that was loved by the person who gave it -- but you don't feel the same way about it?
That's what happened when I inherited two violins from my dad -- along with instructions that one of them had to be played?
If I practice Swedish Death Cleaning, I should probably get them to people who will enjoy them more. But can I do that?

We'll Be Fine, a new play by Michael Small, Act 1: The Violin
มุมมอง 29วันที่ผ่านมา
We'll Be Fine, a new three-act play by Michael W. Small, is about the strongly felt wishes that divide and unite an American family. In Act 1, a factory manager gives his 9-year-old son a violin, wanting it to be the best gift ever. But instead of bringing beautiful music into his home, he finds himself conducting a virtual symphony of misunderstanding and disharmony with his wife and son. Zoom...
A violin prayer for my dad
มุมมอง 1414 วันที่ผ่านมา
To honor my father David Small on the anniversary of his death, I played the melody of a prayer that was taught to me by my violin teacher Craig Judelman. This performance is definitely not ready for a concert hall, as confirmed by the sounds of trucks and birds in the background. But at least it comes from the heart.
Listen up! A Violin Lesson With Strings Attached

Inheriting a violin is wonderful. But what if it comes with instructions that it must be played? And you resorted to violence as a kid to get out of playing? Then what? If you’re lucky enough to inherit something from someone you really love, that’s usually a good thing. But everyone once in a while, it’s not so simple. What happens when you inherit something that was loved by the person who ga...

Hear the rapper and actor talk about crime, Hollywood, racism, and more before he was a Law & Order SVU detective and just after he created the metal band Body Count In 1991, Ice-T had just appeared in the movie New Jack City and his rap albums were defining what was then an unusual style of west coast gangsta rap. That’s why I chose him as one of the top five rappers to lead off my book about ...
Scary! Stephen King and Peter Straub's lost interview
มุมมอง 1585 หลายเดือนก่อน
When I interviewed Stephen King and Peter Straub in 1984 about their fantasy novel The Talisman, their book was breaking records for hardcover sales. But the fame of their collaboration has faded over the years. Most people recognize King's famous titles Carrie, The Shining, The Dead Zone, It, Pet Sematary. And they may be familiar with Straub's 1979 bestseller Ghost Story. But far fewer know a...

This is youtube gold. Wow, thank you for this.
I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. Thank you for listening!
Thank you for posting this interview. It means the world to me. ❤
Thanks for your note! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it.
I cannot thank you enough. For almost 30 years now, I have searched and searched for rare or more candid material of Eazy. Most of his interviews, he is in character and answering either promotional or surface level questions. You rarely get to hear him as a man with his personal thoughts on deeper subjects. Here you get a portrayal of the person behind the character, you get to hear his personality, it's absolutely gold. He really comes off as genuine and pretty down to Earth about who he is as a person, an artist, and an entrepreneur. Eerie to hear him say that he thought he might have died at an early age in a previous life and came back to make others around him happy and to make them money. so then also we get a glimpse at his spirituality. I get chills thinking that you got a chance to experience him in the flesh and it is a testament to your skills as a journalist that you could get so much out of him.
Thank you so much for listening and for the encouragement. I feel lucky that I got to meet Eazy-E, and I'm really glad that you enjoyed the interview.
I thought I’ve heard every interview and song from 2pac. This was a treat. Thank you for uploading. 👍🏿
Thank you for the support! I really appreciate it.
Thanks bro for the upload 🎉🎉
40:17 Shit Touched My Soul💯
There is not much Peter Straub content on TH-cam. Thanks for sharing.
Any more videos sir?
I don't have more about Eazy-E. But I recently posted an interview with Ice-T and I'll post interviews with other rappers within the year. Thanks for asking!
That was 🔥 he been this way his whole life a real one 💯 this is why he's the GOAT 💯 his music was the real good or bad if you can't understand f u
Funniest movie for sure!
It was a pleasure I got to be around during 2 Pac existence he was just 3 and a half yrs older. He had potential of being a leader and or president.
Great interview
Do you have the picture of you and Eazy E?
These days, I wish I had a photo of Eazy and me. But when I was interviewing him and others, I wanted to make it clear that I was there as a journalist, not as a fan. So I took photos only when someone I was interviewing suggested it. I have a great photo of me with Grandmaster Flash -- which I keep right next to my desk. But I don't have many others. Thanks for asking, though!
Which liquor store y’all stop at? What street?
The store wasn't labeled clearly. And Eazy was driving, so I wasn't sure what street we were on. So unfortunately I don't have an answer. Sorry about that!
2pac was the one who told truth in his rhymes to the world.plus he drew to the people everyday just imagine today.
"2PAC" should have been told on the serious that the power of life and death ☠️💀 is in the power of the tongue 👅 RIP TUPAC my brother's and Sisters please respect the life You have and live life abundantly.SELAH
Well when it comes to 2PAC He was born for a reason let me tell You that it is written in "Jeremiah 29:11 " before I formed You in Your mother's womb I know the plans I have for You plans for welfare not harm " my Brother's and Sister's let's live a"GODLY life all lives Matter because "GOD" so love the World 🌎 that "HE" gave "HIS" only be gotten " SON" that who believe in " HIM" should not perish.

R.I.P King of compton Eazy "motherfuckingg" E you were done by foul play but the world and hip hop wont forget what you did especially for youre boys but you put game on to generations of dudes that wouldnt of had that opportunity if you didnt kick the door down!!💯💪 R.I.P Godfather of gangsta rap

Classic Interview R.I.P Eazy-E 🙏Compton OG
Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏾
I liked the interview, but they got the chain story backwards
My mom is 75 and I have fondest memories spinning and dancing to CANDLES IN THE RAIN and this has been our bounding song all these years. We both have plans and wish to have that song played when we depart just to leave a beautiful message behind for our loved ones. LEFTOVER WINE is another great, there were none that were not inspiring 😊 Thank you Melanie , I hope one day to meet you too
Also, Warren G was going to bail out Tupac but Suge got there first
I disagree. He wasnt talking about the whole east coast. Every single person who was around them 2 said completely opposite. Treach form naughty by nature from new jersey was a very very good friend of Pac and it wasnt an east coast, west coast thing. That is super irresponsible content. Go back and look at every interview from the people who were actually there. His whole crew.... the outlaws were from new jersey. It was against badboy record label. And a few other new york artists that spoke on him and he didnt like them or them speaking on him. Stop it. The media still portraying east coast and west coast beef. Stop it!!!!!
That makes sense. So it was label vs. label and artist vs. artist (who happened to be on different coasts), rather than east vs. west. Thank you for taking the time to clarify that @10xfelon !
I’m still grieving over the loss of Melanie even though I never met her. Thank you so much for this video. my favorite song of hers was from her album, Stone, Ground words,Do You Believe. I loved that whole album! I listened to it night and day when I was 21 and a young mother. Thank you for introducing me to songs I’ve not heard of before. She once said There were no more belters except Melissa Etheridge anymore. She really belted at the end of every song to give the audience that special something that she only had. I especially love her belting in tuning my guitar. I miss her so much. aloha from Brooklyn girl living in Hawaii for 50 years
I've haven't listened for a while to Do You Believe and Tuning My Guitar. So I"m gonna do that today. Thank you, Marilyn!
My favorite singer ever!
He was intelligent and a historian
Did U hear what he said U gotta feed the police right and U got to train them right ❤. Changes we gotta change the way we think, we gotta change how we treat each other that the way we gonna make this world a better place. 2pac.
We are all embodiment of love divinity resides in all of us.2pac ❤
We miss this guy so much 🙏 Thank you for sharing Even though you guys got some things wrong, I still appreciate you are talking about him. He was the most amazing activist and revolutionary leader in our life time !
Melanie was the love of my life, I was so blessed to have her and her music in my life. Lay Down was the song that introduced me to this beautiful woman. Meeting her back in the late 70's was surreal, hugging her I almost melted in her arms. Her stage presence was like no other, the audience was almost under a trance with her presence. When she sang you could hear a pin drop, she had the audience's total attention. Love her so much, may she rest in peace.
Thanks so much for this. It was beautiful. Rest in power, dear Melanie 🧨
❤🌻🌠
Something that's not been mentioned is how spectacularly pretty she was & her stage presence was heads 'n shoulders above every other performer. It was her humble, non-pretentious demeanor that capped it all off. I'll love her forever. 💖💖💖💖
Great interview!
Loved this! I was a guest in her home a couple of times and was invited to a birthday concert for Peter. He was a gem to me. I asked the universe to allow me to meet her after hearing her composition “Chart Song”. She sang it for me twice, sitting across from her at the dining room table. She loved movies. I used to own theaters and book/buy for them. She told me what her favorite film was and I shared some information about it. Our friendship was sealed that night.
What a great story. It's another example of how wonderful Melanie and Peter were to the people around them. I was hoping that the treasures Maddy and I saved would bring back memories for other people too. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you SO very much for this, I enjoyed every minute and have shared it in the Melanie Safka Appreciation Society (5.5K members) on Facebook, with the following introduction: MUST SEE/HEAR! A truly wonderful new tribute to Melanie appeared on TH-cam today, featuring Melanie's long-time close friend, photographer Maddy Miller. The entire hour is heart-warming, uplifting, and an extremely worthy, appropriate tribute, the very best there's been to date! Impeccably researched and put together ... an absolutely excellent tribute in memory and honour of our beloved Melanie. THANK YOU AGAIN!
Wow -- Ian -- I so appreciate your note, and I'm sure Maddy and Sally will too. Thank you! Thank you!
Fire videp Gemini Personality Pac was wayyyyy ahead of his time
When you read his rap sheets, law suits, and movie roles you can only see the surface level. I didn’t know him personally but hearing people label him as a criminal or stating his sexual assault case without context fees like a personal shot to me. Listen to the lyrics of his songs, watch his interviews listen to how people that knew him talked to him.
He was only 20 years old here, can you f*cking believe this! When I was 20 I was too busy smoking weed and partying 😂
I mean That's what he was doing
Pac talking like this in his 20s before the fame!!!
This girl said it backwards lol it was Orlando (nephew of keefieD) who took the chain from Tupacs affiliate that’s why he got jumped at the MGM lobby.
Thank you for your note! It isn't possible to edit a TH-cam video after it launches. But we added a note about this in the video description. Plus, we were able to make an adjustment in the version of the podcast on our site and on all podcast services.
This is truly amazing! To hear both of you speak about each others worlds and perspectives with respect for the others views is what we all need!! Love 2Pac and thought I had heard all of his interviews but this one is the best due to how early it was in his career and how articulate and honest he was. Thank you thank you for posting this and being a very respectful level headed interviewer it was great!!!!! Please keep this and get it into a 2Pac museum!! Awesome awesome work sir and thank you again!!
It's truly generous and kind of you to write that note. I want to print it out and frame it -- but I'm supposed to be reducing my possessions. So I'll just enjoy it where you wrote it. Thank you!
What a treasure and a find for me ! Eternal E !!! Thank you so much for sharing this video. And I am more so glad that the “Dr.Dre” that you interviewed was the one whom you did.The other one has blood on his hands, in my opinion. Looking forward to part two of this interview. Long live Eric Wright ! Im’ma be a nigga foe life to Eazy ! ☝🏻
Thank you very much for the support and encouragement! But oops -- I think you meant to write this comment on another one of our podcast videos. If you want to share it with Eazy-E fans, you might want to post it on the Eazy-E video here: th-cam.com/video/efFNF1ESs1w/w-d-xo.html
