Josh Bohmker and Tom Boykin have been prospecting for gold and adventure together since 2016. In 2024 we decided to start documenting our outings and some of the techniques we've learned along the way. There are plenty of YT channels on detecting for gold, panning, dredging, and prospecting, but very few show actual techniques and capture the true experience of searching for gold.

Sluice Box Prospecting for Gold Nuggets - 1500 LBS of Pay Dirt
มุมมอง 1.6Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Josh and Tom take a Keene A52 sluice box prospecting in Oregon for gold nuggets. They dump buckets of pay dirt and finish things off with gold panning. How much gold is in a half yard of dirt? Digging up treasure ain't easy but it's a good workout and fun to see shiny gold come out of the ground. #goldnugget #goldprospecting #goldpanning #sluice #sluicebox #keene #goldrush #gold

Merry Christmas! My catni from OMMO, we talked about cooperation before, are you still interested?
Nice pieces 👌. Do yourself a favour and put a dream mat in your sluice and geez, don't run the water through like a highbanker. Re run those tailings and I guarantee you'll recover much more. Cheers 🍻
I would think that the first thing you would have to do is find out who owns the land where you want to file a claim, right? How do you do that?
Gaia GPS, onyx hunt, and CalTopo all have land ownership layers. Yes making sure the land is open to mineral withdrawal is very important!
@@JTProspecting How about federal or state owned land? I live in the southeast US, so I'll probably be going to Georgia.
Good advice. Now stay off my claim! 😂
You should mention that people will need to speak to someone about a permit to use any water from sources along and around wetlands and live water sources inside the BLM, USDA or Forest Service administered lands. Sometimes these permits are required on private lands as well before any actions are started. In Montana a 310 water access permit is required for any actions that change the surface area in and around stream beds and channels. So no real surface disturbance can happen in those areas until after that permit is issued. Water use and who has the rights to its use is a big issue here in Montana. You will also need to check on water turbidity rules if discharging mining tailings into the river or stream. I am currently filing the paperwork for my 310 permit. You will also need a reclamation plan for your site if its with in the forest service boundaries. I learned all of these after I filed my claims.
Good info
Sir valley black sand have gold?
Yes, I’ve even found gold at my house after digging a deep hole
good info! Thanks.
Glad to help
This is Catni from OMMO and I wish you a nice day! I want to invite you to do some videos for our Underwater Metal Detector in TH-cam, will you be interested in trying it?
Does it detect gold?
Thanks for the info! I also have interest in the quartzville area. Did you know the 11rd is closed all winter due to an accident.
Could be awhile before they take care of the mess left behind by the truck up there.
My dogs name Is Angus too he’s a chocolate. Been detecting for gold for like 43 years I like big ones harder to hunt. Klamath is an interesting area I’m down on feather River Yuba but I’ve hunted all over.
Nice to meet you. Having a good dog out in the woods is priceless.
1500 lbs? Wouldn't that vary considerably dependent upon material? Nice Gold! Heavy Pans!!!
Tom Boykin here - my back says it was about 1500-1600. It's calibrated to concrete, which is slightly lighter than the material we were running.
Magnetic? I don't think so.
Oregonite is non-magnetic, and josephinite is highly magnetic. It's nickel and iron
Awesome Adventure Josh and Tom. Boot's on the ground exploring and making memories!! Beautiful Country, and the tarp at the top of the Sluice, great idea. Heavy Pans and Gold Fever Always Brothers.... Tony@TNT Mining&Prospecting, PEACE!!!
Love your stuff!
Thank you
nice video guys! Keep em coming! Nice chunky rough gold close to the source!
Thanks! Will do!

Perfect video
Thanks
Great production 🎥
Thanks!
Hello from Chico. New subscriber. Looking forward to seeing your work.
Thanks Toad. I’m jealous! Lots of good gold not too far from Chico.
Heck yea awesome stuff wish i had an angus mccurk thanks for sharing
Drop riffles are the best. No messing with miner's moss and they still catch the fines. Usually when I go out I try to half inch classify and slam about 30 gallons down at least. I think my best day was 60 gallons. Home made yabby pump is a game changer too.
I like your sluice and the also the way you take time to explain what you are doing and how it all works. That’s great info for the new prospectors. Nice gold and keep up the great work 💯
Thanks!
Great video
Thanks, it was good to get out
Nice! It all adds up! Keep those videos coming!
Will do. Work and life have taken priority but we will always make time for prospecting
Good too see you again online keep it up
It was good to get out and get some mud on my boots
Good job. Gonna be hitting up some canyons in Trinity County in a week. Hope I have a little luck with me.
A few hours in the woods is worth a day at home, even if you come back with an empty pocket.
Great day out there fam. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
🥴 been there done that!
I know where you are....
