Beautiful scenes. Thank you for sharing, my friend.
Such a depth of colors!
Yeees, it iiiiiiis!
Beautiful lake, with such an importance in Japanese history. Thank you!
Mike, thank you for watching and nice comment.
Very nice.
Thank you, Tommy
Love this! Reminds me of my hometown, near the Erie Canal, and cruising through the locks… Thank you!
Lovely time at home, doing the most important work for autumn. Thank you for this! Now we will prepare our own persimmons...
Thank you, Mike. Do you taste dried persimmons in the US?
@ They grow them in the US, but I never tried them until I came to beautiful Takizawa (Iwate).
The Great Sky!
Yeeees!
I’ve always appreciated the subtle colors of Japanese traditional buildings, ceramics, and paintings. But when I see such bright colors at a Buddhist temple, at 3:00, I am very surprised! Why do they use such striking colors? Is it because of special festivals?
I think you are referring to those brightly colored banners. I think they are not displayed on special days, but are hung like that every day. Those kinds of flashy banners and decorations can be seen in some temples. In Japan, Shinto and Buddhism are mixed, and temples originally had shrines on their grounds to ward off evil spirits, and this tendency is still seen today. Shrines are flashy buildings with a vermilion base color. I have no way of knowing about deep research or consideration, but I think the beautiful and flashy world of Shinto and the sober spiritual world of Buddhism have merged to this day. There was a line in a popular song in the past that went, "At Harimaya Bridge in Kochi, Tosa, a monk (with a shaved head) bought a Kanzashi (an ornament for a woman's hair). I find it very interesting that a colorful or free breeze is blowing into the sober spiritual world of Buddhism.
@@明野日記-l6v Thanks so much for your detailed reply! Such interesting insight. I especially like that song, and will sing it as my hair grows thinner on my head.
So great to see your sailing videos.
Thank you, Mike. How are you enjoying with your dinghy.
@@明野日記-l6v It’s getting cold up here, but hoping to get in one or two more “cruises” during 紅葉 before the snow and ice. Thanks, and hoping you and Midori-chan are well.
Such a talent! And that necktie makes it perfect!
Thank you, Mike.
Ah, the magic of clouds...
Mike,
Beautiful. The sky reminds me of paintings by Turner. Thank you!
@@mikeu5380 Thank you, Mike. How are you doing? I am reluxed at my home now.
@@明野日記-l6v I am working very hard at “のんびり”…
??? But maybe I understand of your days.
@@明野日記-l6v ”のんびり” is truly a full-time job!
Yeeeeees! Me too.
A stroll in the forest, flowers, Midori-chan... Wonderful video! Welcome to September!
Thank you, Mike. How are you doing in Iwate?
@@明野日記-l6v Very well, now that the heat and the rains have stopped! Off to the lake with S. for a canoeing day.
Very Nice!
I think stairways up and pagodas are so important to religious sites. Steeples in Christian religions, too. Tall domes and minarets in Islam.
I certainly believe that the style of religious buildings is important. And although I am not a religious person, I am moved when I see them because they express not only architectural beauty but also religious spirituality and beauty.
Wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely mountain flowers. Thank you!
Thank you, Mike. How are you doing these hot fays?
@@明野日記-l6v VERY hot and humid on Ishigakijima. But heading back to Iwate promises weather just as hot. Hope you and Midori-chan are finding cool places to hide!
I went to the shopping mall yesterday to escape the summer heat. It was crowded and there were quite a lot of old people there. They probably came to the mall to take a walk, just like me, because it was too hot outside to go for a walk. In the evening, I had a drink on the balcony of my house while watching the sunset. It was a wonderful moment in the cool breeze.
Flowers, clouds... Very nice imagery today. Thank you!
I'm very glad to hear you.
Amazing quality!
Thank you.
I love this one!
As you get older, your tastes change.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching my video.
I enjoy such geometrical space, but I also like the asymmetrical Japanese gardens.
I think this is proof that the Japanese people of the time made Buddhism, which was introduced from the continent, their own unique style. In particular, I think it demonstrates the uniquely Japanese sense of beauty.
Lovely sailing! (But much more work than on my tiny boat...) Thank you!
In fact, the previous owner had once urged me to buy that boat, but I declined because I thought I would not be able to operate it by myself.
I prefer dinghy-size boats the size of Charleston.
やさし lifestyle... : )
How are you doing, Mike?
@@明野日記-l6v Very well! Busy with 陶芸 and 日本酒。And you?
I am worried about being overweight. I love to EAT.
@@明野日記-l6v Eat "healthy" and you'll have no worries...
That's amazing! Thanks for sharing. At first I thought it was a real bird.
The terrain here is complex, so various clouds appear. Looking at them is refreshing, but it can be hard to keep your head up.
@@明野日記-l6v I usually lie down in my canoe and look up!
You are nice!
Lovely colors, like a Turner painting.
Thank you for your nice comment, Mike.
Beautiful images! As for "スパイ", I guess we are all spies on the world (some of us are "respectful spies"), and TH-cam lets us spy on places we couldn't see for ourselves. Cheers from 石垣島 again... We are spying apartments for the winter... ; )
Ha Ha Ha.
That's one of the funniest videos I've seen in a while. Glad Midori-chan has expert staff!
Oh yes, but too old staff.
@@明野日記-l6v Well-aged, like a good wine...
Enjoying the sakura blooming here in the US now, and thinking of Japan...
I'm very sorry for my late response. It's not sure but Midori-chan and I are going to visit the Sandaimaruyama Johmon Remains, Aomori Pref. coming May. will you be in Iwate?
We will be here after May 20th. : )
"Here" means the US, I think. I do hope your happy days there.
@@明野日記-l6v In Iwate after May 21...
Very interesting! I love "reading the sky"... Thank you.
I like watching competent people at work, especially Japanese carpenters. Such a big project, with a delightful outcome--Lunch on the deck! (We put a roof over our deck, so we can stay out there in the rain.) Thank you!
It looks like you are enjoying life in the winter resort. Very nice.
Thank you! Now enjoying non-Iwate weather on Ishigakijima for the month.
Mike, you are taking a break from the winter with Susan on Ishigakijima for the month. How nice!
I want to 消しするwinter from my life from now on...
It seems that you do hate cold. Please enjoy the southern island.
I really like the traditional construction methods of Japanese temples.
I also really like that meyhod and feeling.
I also really like that meyhod and feeling.
Nearly ready for spring...
Yeeeeeeees!
Lovely autumn colors (and Midori-san's piano is superb... ; )
Thank you, Mike. But the piano is not by Midori−chan. She is still a bigginer.
I love this video! BTW, I hope you and your family and friends are safe the earthquake.
Thank you. Tommy. My house is over 100km away from the epicenter of that earthquake, so it only shook a little.
Beautiful. It reminds of that haiku by Shiki: “The sparrow hops along the veranda, with wet feet.”
I finally found that Shiki's haiku. How cute!
@@明野日記-l6v I looked all over the Internet and my own library, but couldn't find it in Japanese. Thank you, Sherlock!
But you are so nice!
So nice!
Thank you, Mike.
Gorgeous.
A great gift from nature
It's odd in that we always think of spring as the most colorful season, but I think the autumn colors are the best display of the year. Can the same be said of youth and our later years?
Great point! And I thought I should live the rest of my life more beautifully
@@明野日記-l6v They say, "The time of youth is wasted on the young." ; )
Surely. Not a day goes by that I don't remember the regrets I felt when I was younger.
Very beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing.
That could be an Olympic sport eventーMidori-san gets a gold medal. ... Your 渋柿 are ready now? Ours will be in a few weeks, I think.
I have already taken the dried persimmons into my stock room and enjoy them every day. I love persimmons and have often eaten dried persimmons since I was a child. I am grateful for this nostalgic taste every year.
Is that a じぞwearing glasses?!
Yes, he does and is cute.
Here, too. Snow tires are on, and winterizing the house. Guess it's time to cover up the BBQ... : (
There is a saying that goes, "Every season." I believe that you are acting according to the passing seasons, and that you are nostalgic for the passing seasons and have various thoughts about the coming seasons. The moon shining behind the passing clouds creates a turmoil in your heart, inducing a feeling of carelessness in the flow of life, and you suddenly realize that you are surrendering to infinite purity.
Bravo! Makes me wish I could see more Charleston sailing videos-- as I am sure you wish for, too. But such a powerful voice to carry this love song to Charleston!
The pianist gave me the OK, and I was finally able to publish it. It may take some time, but I would like to make a video of sailing in Charleston with this song as background music. I've tried it several times, but I haven't finished it yet, probably because I'm so attached to it.
Such vast, unusual imagery in Japan, where most hill and mountain scenes have trees. Ah, a のんびりlife is good!
There are quite a few places with spectacular views in Japan, and I'm glad that they can be reached in 2-3 hours by car.
@@明野日記-l6v Yes, our favorite nearby places are Hachimantai and Gandou-ko.
