Man, haven’t watched this since before i began my dci career. What an inspiration for what i was able to do. Thank you Ben for this. One of the best to do it. (SCV 18,19)
Thanks Aidan! ❤️💚
This sounds fantastic!
March 2021 n i still love this video
YES!!!
Dude! You did great! I really enjoyed your performance :)
Thanks!
yeah!
You sound great, bud! Nice video editing skills too :)
Thanks man, it's been a good change of pace during quarantine. thanks for moving the low horn challenge forward!
This is the year I came to USA to study, I went to Indiana for DCI final immediately after everything settled. And I am very fortunate to see this show, this is really my favorite in that year.

Lips gone at the end...feel your pain as a fellow Mello Screamer. Very very nice vid!
Mello Love!
Amazing! 😆 I love this show SOOOO MUCH!
Hi, I'm a junior in high school and first chair in my section and I'm planning on trying out for Spirit of Atlanta this year and I'd like to know if you had any advice on certain things I should focus on the most before auditions. Thanks!
So... did you get in?
@@bazingabot2311 I got call backs 3 separate times, unfortunately I couldn’t ever afford to do it. $3,000-$4,000 isn’t an amount my family could throw out.
@@johnwitherspoon1723 after 3 years thats a quick reply. Also, I understand that. I was planning on auditioning for some corps this year, but the fact that the season is gonna be the way it is means it probably wouldn't be worth the money. I hope you'll be able to do it in the future!
@@bazingabot2311 you should definitely try out, it’s an amazing experience even if you don’t make it. I’m gonna try out one last time for next season, because it’s the last chance I’ll get before I age out.
@@bazingabot2311 and yeah haha it was pretty fast, to be honest I forget I even commented on this
mello god L O C A T E D
This has to be one of the most Mello pov's perfect
Dude I've been looking for this for a long time... One of my favorite shows in DCI and I'm even a mello player too at my high school... Love the intro and the sound!
@Lucas Garner you get several pairs of gloves while on tour. You ration out what you need for shows which you can use repetitively, after those gets somewhat dirty you demote them to field rehearsals, or you can simply open one of your new packages of gloves and use those lol. #scvalumni
I really wish someone would've posted a baritone cam too. That baritone feature before Jupiter is sickkkk
Ian Fullen yessss dude
Out-Freaking-Standing! Thanks Much!
Great vid! It took me back to my drum corps days (Star '89)
That lick in Mars is outrageous
Was there anyone in your section 2012 or 2013 that used a french horn mouthpiece and an adapter?
7:02 made me wonder about life lol
imagine they playing it in the middle of the dessert, just them and a sky full of stars
stated just like our tech who used to march SCV. :)
i ductaped this digital camera to my head the morning of this run. lolz
blow warm air down the center of the leadpipe and let he air make the vibrations happen.
i think it's much easer. remember, the mello is a mellophone and not a french horn so why are you using french horn mouthpieces? that's retorical becaues i know a band director or a private teacher said, "this is not a french horn"which they are right! they know how to tell the difference between shapes. similarly you wouldn't use a trombone mouthpiece in a trumpet just because you played trombone before. so why would you do the same on mello. keep french horn out of the picture. it's a mello.
practice being a professional in everything you do. If you are looking for specific practicing exercises for scv you can buy an audition packet at scv.org. The packet contains exercises and pedagogy that our staff uses all summer long.
just some mello section stuff we bought at walmart to be silly.
i'm not sure if this is a troll or not? hahhahah
yeah i did, it's labeled: contour cam- ben
3:50 what's up with the pink and white?
google it ,JK its a sports camera that you can attach to your helmet/head or head wear
I like the mello soloist for 13 better. He didn't tick the end of the opener. #sarcasm Did you get a POV cam for 13, by the way?
This "perspective" video totally brings back memories! Wow. Great idea.
And this video proves that, yes, Mellophones can't see over their bell. xD
Just what I needed to get pumped for the season.
haha it feels like im playing a fps
this video makes me want to march drum corps
Trumpets sound like lasers at 7:12...badass.
EXCELLENCE !!!
DREAM SOLO
ZOMG PINK SOCK MELLOS
You have really pretty tone...you make this mello happy^_^
:) miss marching
The opener is just so beautiful!!!!! I'm in love with it!!!! ❤❤❤
There's an adjustment period, but if you're looking to get the most of a mellophone, the mello piece is the way to go, especially if your drill is semi-serious.
Is it harder using a mellophone mouthpiece? We use our french horn mouhpieces with an adapter.
