A favorite hymn from my childhood onward, and that has been a lot of years! I recognized even at a tender age the sublime beauty of this music both in lyrics and melody.

The beauty about this song is it's only 4 chords: D - A - Bm - G. The Edge used an infinite sustain guitar to ride out those chords but then used delay and a bunch of other effects to create this incredible sound. Like most U2 songs, it's very simple, but it's the adding of all these incredible layers and sounds that really makes this a fantastic song.
