I had a major conversion many years ago. It’s been very hard for me to follow Jesus faithfully. This book, right after my conversion was helpful. Now 30 years later I’m reading it again. I think Jesus is turning me into a saint.

rode it sunday, still hurts

Sitting here with MY three year old Anthony who wants to be a priest (and a soldier and cotton candy man) now also wants to go on a roller coaster.

It's been a long time since I rode Apollo's Chariot, but honestly, I consider it the least impressive coaster in the park. It is essentially just a bunch of steep hills. The main "thrill" is the first drop, which almost seems like 90 degrees down vertically when you experience it (but actually isn't), but after that this is just a fast ride of rising up and down lesser hills. No loops. No corkscrews. It is not suspended, etc. I am not saying it is a bad coaster, but if you are intent to ride every coast at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, this one should be at the bottom of your list. There are way better coasters at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Of course, this is just my .02.

Tempesto being plopped there ruins much of the majesty of the Charriot. I wish tempesto would be gone.

Just finished this book. Starting “The End of the Affair” next. The encouraging point of this story is that the Whisky priest never gave up. Even when the sacrament of confession was not available to him. We must always adopt the understanding that living a faithful sacramental life is not optional, it is necessary.

Thank. You Father. The power and Glory is the most important novel I have ever read. It is a great redemption story written by a deeply complicated man. A whiskey priest, an adulterer, who when many others have renounced their faith, or escaped across the border. He, like a true hound of god makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect and redeem a strangers soul.

I read this book several years ago but lost my copy. I am currently re-reading it, having also just read, The End of the Affair, also by Graham Greene. It is an excellent novel.

Father this book has deepened my Eucharistic faith more than I thought possible. It's so powerful

I loved this book and is too one of my favorites.

The Power and the Glory has this spectacularly memorable passage: "At the centre of his own faith there always stood the convincing mystery - that we were made in God’s image. God was the parent, but He was also the policeman, the criminal, the priest, the maniac, and the judge…He would sit in the confessional and hear the complicated dirty ingenuities which God’s image had thought out, and God’s image shook now, up and down the mule’s back, with the yellow teeth sticking out over the lower lip, and God’s image did its despairing act of rebellion with Maria in the hut among the rats."

I really, really loved it. I'll be going on a 4 day silent retreat in two weeks time and l want to read the book again to remind myself of some of things she wrote about. Found your channel because l typed in Poustinia in the search. Subscribed and now off to read mor of your posts. BTW one of the books most instrumental in my conversion was Brother Lawrence - such a practical, down-to-earth man

Father, I just finished reading this book today and then found your video. I was very moved by the character of the Whisky Priest. Like so many of us, he continues to beat himself up for his sins while ignoring the good deeds he does daily-saying mass for people, risking his life to hear a murderer’s last confession. Excellent book.
