STELLAR GAIN CELL DAC VS AYRE K5XE-MP, BATTLE OF THE PREAMPLIFIER'S PART 2!!
Preamp can compensate for the power amp people they think if they have a very strong amplifier it means it gets louder that's correct but at the same time it helps with the harmony study about it you will understand😊
I suppose, although in my experience a preemplifier has and much larger impact on sound quality than a Poweramp. You could take a single power amp and a set of speakers and hook it up to five different preamps and every time it will sound different, I know I've done it
Nice looking thing, if you like that kind of thing... :) Do you have any views on the high end clones from China? All the best.
I don't
What should i set the weight to on the tone arm
You shouldn't have to, the turntable itself comes pre-calibrated and is absolutely fine as it is. If you do however change the cartridge it might need to be updated however that's fairly straightforward to do. There is a grub screw on the counterweight that you loosen and you can adjust it from there. It is important to point out that you will require some sort of scale to measure proper tracking force
My kef c35 also having same problem tweeter is not working I want to know which tweeter add
Here is a link to some tweeters that you can used to replace the Tweeter that's on the c35. Bear in mind though that these are basically raw tweeters, which means that it requires gluing and soldering and very careful disassembly to install these in the speakers. Another option that I've read people do is to take an external Tweeter which you can find simply by googling external Tweeter and disconnecting the Tweeter already present on the speaker and hooking the external Tweeter up. Of course doing so will change the sound quality and dynamics of the speaker and if you like the way that they did sound then it will definitely change it up. Sorry I couldn't be more of help but once these tweeters start to go it's unfortunately a lot of work to get them right again www.ebay.com/itm/154877634035?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=il5kKU0jSxS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Any platter wobble ? Or does it spin flat ?
Have you experienced any wobble in the platter?
my man 4 ohm speakers gonna be louder then 8 ohm speakers . And the reason they burned up is probably you run it too loud . Probably .They do heat up more then 8 ohm ones . So ...
Did you even watch the video? I 100% explained why they burned up in the video, I'm not some 20-year-old kid who blast music at concert levels, my typical listening volume is around 65 DB and it rarely goes above 75. These speakers used a magnetic Ferro fluid in the Tweeter, that ferofluid is a liquid which dries up over time. That fluid was designed to cool the tweeters and to prevent them from overheating, over time that fluid dries up and can no longer properly cool the tweeters. Because the tweeters can no longer properly cool themselves they burn up. It's not rocket science and if you had fully watched the video I explain everything that I just said. Also finally the ability for a speaker to play loudly has to do with its ohm rating, but it has to do with far more factors than just that. Amplifier power, amplifier design and the way that the power supply interacts with the load presented by the speaker. Room interaction, how the speaker couples to the room to generate sounds and pressure waves. Sound treatment of your room or lack thereof, all of these things come together to govern the loudness of a speaker. Do you can for example have the same speaker hooked up to the same amp in two different rooms and that speaker will be louder in one of those rooms at the same volume, because of the way the sound waves interact with the room itself. And by the way if you want to use a basic measurement 8 ohm speakers generally are easier to power so therefore will theoretically get louder.
@@Audiorevue well you do act like a kid cant we talk like grown ups , i have ferrofluid cooled highs as well , its not so uncommon but it is oversold in marketing , its just like a thermal paste on CPU to make better contact , even if it dries up should not be a problem . I have speakers that turned 18 year old , with ferrofluid cooling . Aint no problem there , and they in their time did even parties out door .PA stile ,to the limit , clipping . Still work . Behringer B20301A , when i purchased them they told it , dont do it , its a bad quality . What do they know . So the reason why it burned up , is probably high current , low resistance . Or a faulty unit , i dont know but there has to be a reason , cant be just ferrofluid , you were saying you did not crank them up , so it cant be that even if dry .
@@dedskin1 All you have to do is look on the internet for forum posts about this speaker and almost everybody talks about how the tweeters are bad. If you dig deeper into why that is almost everybody talks about the fact that the fluid dries up allowing the tweeters to overheat and ultimately damage themselves. I admit I'm not an expert but if I read a hundred different forum posts with 300 different people saying the same exact thing about these speakers, then there's got to be something to it, there's got to be some truth to it. And speaker design and fundamental operation isn't overly complicated, we're not talking about calculating evaporation characteristics of black holes due to Hawking radiation relative to their mass and momentum , we're talking about membranes that vibrate electrically and their associated properties, technically simple stuff. And as I said I'm not necessarily an expert but I've been doing this long enough to know when what I read about something is probably true and frankly everything I read about these speakers said that the fluid dries up and causes the tweeters to self-destruct. Other companies make products that probably are different that use similar tech, honestly you can't judge one brand versus another in this regard. Besides these speakers are quite literally 36 years old and as far as I could go researching were probably one of the earliest designs to feature this type of cooling fluid. So by that logic alone you can assume that these first generation type products will probably be the weakest designed Of the type. Forgive me, I don't mean to argue with you, I just simply understand what I've read and juxtapose that with what I know and what I understand is this speaker, in spite of it being a decent speaker, was also a mediocre speaker. It was very early tech For its design which ultimately doesn't hold up over time. There is a lot of stuff that has been designed over the years that simply just doesn't hold up over time, and it doesn't matter whether or not there is some sort of user error or otherwise, it just doesn't hold up And doesn't last over time. There's a price to pay for being an early adopter whether by design or engineering or on a consumer level as a purchaser, there is a price to pay, often coming down to durability and reliability, ask any engineer.
@@Audiorevue no don't apologize for your opinion , just as far as i go , all those on Forums are so Dumb its beyond belief , one time i asked how can i Stream Tidal without using my PC , playing VIA TV . They had all kinds of stupid things to say . Spend there , buy that . Then i said up on to them , how about Casting my phone to TV , that simple . The other guy was openly complaining about M Audio DAC interface that i know to be of absolute quality for i have it , he would randomly lose sound . He bashed it , i said up on to him , your speakers are on Auto Turn off and on , on signal . So stupid , beyond belief . There is nothing i can learn from those on Forums , if its not about electrical engineering . But , that being said . If dried up ferrofluid is a problem dont you think 1000s of others would not do the same . It would more likely be poor design , maybe too weak tweeter for the size of a speaker , plus low impedance , and what not . General bad design . Good speaker but until it works i would say. I like it for its Coaxial design , good stereo image . But there are better , dont know how much that one costs . If you want sound like that , you don't have to get the same speakers , coaxial design in general will give such sound , or as close to it as one can expect since every box and speaker sound different .
Did u have and dirty screen effect iv ordered one but worried about it

Your thought made me think I have no idea what having to think about a thought even means... never mind sounds like.
Funny, be honest with you. It’s just sort of what popped into my head when it came to thinking about how to describe these two preamps.
@@Audiorevue It’s a difficult task, putting subjective impressions into words. I appreciate you being a good sport!
I purchased the 65" U7N during the pre black Friday sales. Its a good set. Far better than the Hisense H9E plus i bought in 2018. Brighter colors and darker blacks. I did have trouble with our 4k dvd player and the sound dropping out. A better hdmi cable and changes to some sound output settings on the LG 4k player fixed that.
Great glad you like it, you'd be surprised how many reviews I've read over the last month on different televisions and people leaving bad reviews for a product but if you really look at what they're saying you'll see that it's some setting that they didn't change or some other small tweak that could have been done to fix the problem.
@Audiorevue the deal with the settings is the picture presets are good except the HDReco one the set is in out of the box. Once you switch another the picture improves significantly. Another thing is they dont use eco modes on the store display models.
The past was much better. End of. The 1980's were fantastic in comparison to today, and there's no need for rose tinted glasses.
I think you misunderstand, my whole point wasn't whether or not the past was better or today sucks or anything like that, it was that if younger people constantly sit around thinking the past was better then it ultimately leads to a situation where there's no hope for the future in their minds, and that's a scary thing if you think about it.
People in the 80's weren't pining for the time's back in the 40's, because the 40's sucked! People who were alive in the 80's and people who weren't even alive during that time can clearly see that everything was way better then, than it is now.
I think you misunderstand, my whole point is not whether or not the '70s sucked or the '80 sucked or anything. My whole point is that if younger people sit around constantly thinking the past was better it ultimately leads to no hope for the future, which is a scary thing if you really think about it.
@@Audiorevue👍💯👏This Part!!
Do you experience luminance overshoot in dark scenes? I recently notice it and dont know if it's an issue with my tv or the b4 line of tvs in general. It can be distracting as it causes a white outline on shadows.
No not while i had it i dont think. I dont have it anymore so
@Audiorevue why you returned it?
@@edwin99901well I had an issue when playing video games where they were in HDR and you'd open up a menu and then it would switch to SDR the screen would blacken. Initially it was only doing it for a split second but it started doing it where it would last 2 seconds or 3 seconds. This is obviously concerning and I got in touch with LG and they told me that that wasn't normal behavior and also that since the TV was so new I should simply return it to Best buy and exchange it. I ended up going to Best buy and unfortunately they didn't have any of the b4s in stock. They could order me one of course but that would also mean I would be out of a television and to be honest with you I'm impatient and I didn't want to do that. I could also get the B4 in the 55-in which would mean spending more money which I also didn't want to do. While looking around I decided to pick up the u7 in from Hisense. I did a video on that as well you should check out and in some ways I like it even better than the B4.
Wasn't U7 was a horrific down grade?
@@user-or9cj3vk6t no not really , remember we all like what we like and also a good philosophy in life is that not everything has to be constantly perfect and awesome all the time for you to enjoy it. You don't have to have the best car or the best house or the best wife or the best this or the best that, sometimes a downgrade is really an upgrade
I have the Hisense 65" U8N!!🧐😉👌🏾
Color temp looks much warmer then on the Sony. Maybe that caused the eye strain?
Could be, one thing I noticed and I sort of mentioned it in this review a little bit or maybe I hinted at it, but my history with TVs has always been budget television's, TVs under $300. Now a lot of under $300 televisions can be good, but the one thing that they almost never do is get terribly bright. The one thing I learned with the u7n is that if I have the brightness all the way up it is unbearably bright, and it does cause eye strain. So I actually have the brightness set at about 40 and it's substantially better. I say that because I almost wonder if that was the issue with the x90l? When I got it I went off the ratings .com settings recommendations and thought it looked good apart from the eye strain, so I wonder if that was the issue? The other thing I noticed with a lot of these fancier TVs is they do HDR so much better than the budget models, of course that makes sense. But I also noticed when watching HDR content even with the brightness set lower I get eye strain issues, just because of the glaring contrast that HDR introduces between light and dark scenes and objects within those scenes. Anyway long story I know I'm sorry, but just thought I'd share my opinion and I'm happy with The u7n and absolutely thrilled. Although I may be getting another smaller TV for the bedroom in the future and I might do a review on that as well.
how have you liked this amp so far? there was no follow up video.
Well I don't have the amp anymore so that should tell you everything. At the end of the day I think it is a competent performer, particularly with digital but also with things like the phono stage and just the general performance is very satisfactory, but on a personal level while I liked the amplifier I didn't really love it. Like I said it's a good performer and very satisfactory and honestly I don't see how anybody wouldn't like it, but it doesn't really do anything that wows you. It's sort of like a Toyota Corolla very competent and will stand the test of time and just hum along perfectly acceptably but it also doesn't do anything to sort of stand out. One particular thing that's a real standout feature is of course the built-in blue OS, it absolutely is phenomenal and works phenomenally and basically just gives you access to every song ever made, so definitely is worth it from that perspective. Don't take that as a criticism, if I went to a store and this was all they had to purchase, I would probably buy it. Also bear in mind some products I get, I just get for review porpoises, I don't actually intend on keeping them per se, I'm just getting them to review and that type of thing. Anyway thanks for watching and thanks for commenting
@@Audiorevue Dang a corolla?! not even like a Camry Hybrid or something lol. Corolla for me is like the Wiim amp or something. If you needed airplay, a/b speaker hookups, optical IN, ethernet port, subout, and close to audiophile sound and power, what integrated would you recommend? i've searched and the closest thing i found was the Cambridge evo 150 but that is almost 60% more expensive.
Well first off I think you misunderstand what I'm saying, personally I'm very fond of the Corolla, I think it's a fantastic car but at the same time it also doesn't wow me. But just because something doesn't blow my socks off doesn't mean I don't like it, not everything in life has to constantly be amazing for it to be good . I think at the end of the day a lot of this hobby is all personal preference, I don't know how many reviews I've read over the years of products and ended up purchasing that product and then I thought it was trash, but to hear the reviewer talk about it it was the best thing ever. If I was you and you're really interested in the amp, I would buy it and see how you like it. It might be everything you want and then some, although you're never going to know unless you actually buy it and listen to it for yourself. There's a lot of places online and possibly local dealers as well that will let you buy something and if you don't like it you can return it, music direct comes to mind as well as upscale audio and of course crutchfield too.
@@Audiorevue thanks. all valid points. I've tried so many budget amps. currently i have the wiim amp (3 actually aroudn the house), and will be replacing one of the wiim's with this NAD integrated. i'm sure it will be more than sufficient! i'm not an experienced listener like you. i have listened to music for the last 25+ years and have always looked for the best sound, but my ears are not really educated like an audiophile. for me, un-distorted (at high volumes too), neutral, and non-fatiguing output is what i'm looking for which i realize can be related to your source material, speakers, room acoustics, etc. i want something that will be versatile. honestly, the wiim has been surprisingly good, especially with all of the features and the app is legit. the "auto-sensing line in" is an awesome feature on the wiim amp. anyway, thanks for your input.
Nice video. I picked up a 75” U7N in November and I’ve also been loving it. I’ve been recommending it to people left and right, it truly is the best value for the money on the market right now. Black levels are impressive and gaming has been great. And I love how many settings there are to toggle with. Also, interesting message at the start of this vid, more young people definitely need to hear that 👍🏾
@@mwood341 awesome, I’m glad you like the video and I’m glad you’re enjoying your television, so am I. Yeah, you know with the whole living in the past thing I really think the Internet has made it worse. Because no time in history, could somebody honestly look at the past so directly and so much. Like I said in the video, it’s kind of a sad thing if you think about it, because when I was a kid and I’m sure probably when you were a kid too you didn’t worry about the past, you lived to make today as good as it could be, and that also made your future as good as it could be. Anyway, thanks for watching and thanks for commenting
Nice review, like the Olympics album too :)
I bought this two weeks ago and it was ok for about a week and then the skipping just got worse and worse. I ruled out everything, needle, record, vibration, and had to admit this unit just skips way too much. Returned and got the 120 and the same records that were skipping like crazy have no problems whatsoever.
Well that's a shame to hear, sounds like you got to bum unit. Do you mean it was just skipping all by itself, or was it susceptible to footfalls and general vibration? I did notice the atlp 70 was A bit more susceptible to vibration than some other turntables, however at its price point most turntables are this way, so didn't think to really mention it. A lot A turntable's ability to deal with external vibration is obviously its design but also how we set it up and isolate it as well. Imagine building a home on the earthquake fault line in California and not building it to compensate for the potential for earthquake and then complaining when the house fell down when an earthquake happened, you see what I mean.
@@Audiorevue I ruled out: vibration, levelness, dust, scratches. It was as if the tracking force was too low.
@@EricScherrer oh yeah, definitely sounds like you got a bum unit. As I said I didn't experience any of that with mine, otherwise I would have mentioned it in the review. Yeah my assessment wasn't a criticism just more of making a light-hearted poke. But honestly the at120 is as I understand fantastic. I reviewed its higher end brother the lp5 and was very impressed so I don't think you can go wrong.
Picked up a LP70X in mid December as a Christmas gift, i am noticing an increasing occurrence of skipping with it. i am trying to investigate and troubleshoot the issue, appears it is fairly common with recent comments...
Hello Sir, i like this dongle and think about buying it but I’m still using an older iPhone with lightning port, do you think the OTG that came with this dongle will work great on lightning port and I’ll not missing out on sound quality and power output , sorry for the long question 😅
Yes it should work just fine, and no I think this is a great product so far since I've been using it and would definitely improve the sound coming from an iPhone
Yes I realize there's some noise from the mic, unfortunately I didn't realize it until after I had recorded the video, so please forgive it.
I never bought the whole thing of automatic tables causing interference / noise with playback, the only time the full automatic mechanism is even in operation is when the tonearm is not even in play, its done operating by the time the tonearm is lowered at start of play and doesnt make any sound at records end until the last song is long over. Full auto is so convenient if you happen to fall asleep before the record ends, it lifts the tonearm and stops the record so the needle isnt grinding away in the runout groove
@@yambo59 But I agree with you, I have had many automatic turntables over the years and have always enjoyed them, matter of fact the atlp70 also from Audio Technica is a great budget turntable and definitely my main recommendation at the price point and it's fully automatic. I think it's a perception thing, I think it started probably back in the late '70s, some British companies and others got rid of their automatic features. They of course did it because they said it created better sound or allowed for better sound, and then within just a couple of years other companies followed suit. Denon for example on their highest end models during the late '70s and into the '80s was not an automatic table, matter of fact you had to go down the range to get an automatic, but their top models were fully manual. Such a shame because they created some of the best automatic tables on the market at the time.
I would definitely consider replacing the elliptical stylus with either a multilinear or Shibata stylus. Sounds like a defective stylus to me, just as you hinted at.
This could be down to the tonearm wiring loom...it's being stressed at certain points on it's travel across the record...had exactly this problem on a Rega RB300 arm some years ago...just a thought.
Let me guess, you snagged the Samsung S90C for that incredible deal of $999 as your new TV?
Got something else, check it out. th-cam.com/video/08KGGAbQe6w/w-d-xo.html
I have a Sony receiver as well and I'm wondering what is the difference between running the CD player directly to the receiver as opposed to having it connected to this little DAC? I wonder if there would be a noticeable difference if you made a before and after video because I know a lot of detail can't be picked up with phone microphones
Well, the answer to your question is it all depends. I’m a firm believer in the idea that better isn’t always better. Meaning just because 5000 people say that something is better doesn’t necessarily mean that it is, in this case having an external dac between your CD player and your receiver. Honestly, I’ve had so much gear over the years that I don’t know how many times I’ve hooked up something thinking it would be better, but straight away ended up reverting back to the way it was because it sounded better to me. Alot of what is better sound wise is personal preference and at the end of the day its up to your ears whether or not you like it. If you want my opinion id tell you to buy it. They’re not that expensive on amazon and if you dont like it then its easy to return.
This is new, I usually see eyestrain with OLEDs and PWM. Not led or full array
You know it's funny when I went back to take the x90l out back to Best buy I wanted to exchange it out for something else, looking around they have obviously the x90l on display and I almost wonder if I got a faulty TV because the one on display I didn't notice an eye strain problem. Doesn't matter though because I found a better TV and I'll be doing a video on that soon enough
@@Audiorevue Could be because stores usually have very bright lighting, almost like sunny daylight conditions, so it was on full brightness, which usually means PWM is a lot less. It is not only the frequency that matters with PWM, but also on-off time.
Are you one of those people that has everything on a high level, like brightness, sharpness, contrast. I noticed a lot of people with their phones have it so bright it can almost burn my eyes out.
No not really, I generally have my phone around half brightness and I did Jack up the brightness on the TV initially to kind of test its brightness, obviously that's one of the hallmarks and the talking points of the television so why not try out that feature, although I didn't use it that way exclusively. And by the way if you're suggesting that the reason I had eye strain issues was because of that, well as I said I had it around 25 to 30 brightness setting and still experienced the issue, it was unrelated to the brightness. But rest assured I found a much better offering and I'll be making a video on that soon enough. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting
I believe you.
😂😂 why do you say it like that, I get the impression that you truly don't believe me at all.
Bang&Olufson was not a budget brand. their stereo products , in the 90s they could probably cost quite a lot. But where different you could say they had, for example, a wall stereo. so you had it on the wall
Well sorry for making that insinuation, however my point was that these turntables can regularly be picked up for under $150, or at least you could when I made the video. Now they generally didn't come with the cartridge and that was where it was expensive, replacement cartridges are outrageous. Yes I understand bang and Olufsen back in the '70s and '80s and '90s as well and of course even today, produce high-end luxury audio components, because they are high-end luxury Audio components the price is commiserate with that. Again however that wasn't my point. My point was that a lot of their vintage gear you can pick up nowadays relatively cheap, far cheaper than it was when it was new, and the same can't be said for other brands.
Thank you for this, I have the A15 Amp, along with the CD player and the Streamer for a few weeks now and thanks to your video, I can change the names of the outputs 😎 Thanks again!
No, it is not. It is just ok.
Well first off we all hear differently, second off I never said it was the best thing in the world, what I pretty much said was that given its price point and the fact that it's often on sale for far less, it offers fantastic performance for that. The other thing is that of all the Chinese dacs that I've heard, this is the only one that has truly impressed me with such a smooth organic natural quality of sound.
Thank you for this. Their own website, Amazon listing, and even the back of the box you showed make zero mention of the lighting adapter. You’d think they would advertise it for the people who need it if they’re including it in the box. This confirms it for me. I just needed to know since I have an iPhone 13 and don’t want to buy a dongle that is lightning only from somewhere and then need to replace it later if I get a newer iPhone when my 13 dies. Hopefully not for a few more years.
Yeah no problem, happy to be of assistance

Taste bad to me
Well at the end of the day it all comes down to taste right, I think I taste the difference, which is why I made the video. You might not taste the difference and consider all of it to be just utter crap, which is fine
Imagining things are we?
How am I imagining things? Like what exactly do you mean?
How would it sound compared to an old smsl su8s dac
I honestly can't say. Truthfully this is one of the first Chinese Dacs that I've heard. I've actually tried to shy away from doing them because everything I've read and heard, review wise, has been that they tend to have similar sounds, so I always thought what was the point of checking one out. As a matter of fact the only reason I checked out this one was because when I got it they had it on sale for like 40 bucks. But I do know I was very surprised about the quality of it and was truly impressed
and put the cover back on the heads, it acts as shield
Don't tell me what to do. I know everything you mentioned, but I don't care. Besides that tension arm just acts as a power switch it does not need to be on there, why don't you go read the manual . Also if you've ever used one of these you will know how exceedingly tedious it is to thread tape across the heads with that shield in place, you don't need the head cover. Yes it does act as a shield but I'm not swinging baseball bats around near my tape machine, and as I said it's far easier to thread tape which I'm constantly having to do with it removed. Why don't you go do something else instead of being an armchair expert, although thanks for watching
@@Audiorevue the shield is not for baseball bats, it's for rf
@@sempertern Right, but it's not a concern in my case. Why don't you leave me alone, it's my tape machine and I can use it however the hell I want. Matter of fact I will use it however the hell I want. What's with it nowadays and everybody constantly telling people online how something should be? I mean I know how it should be but back in the day a lot of people used to leave these covers off because it is exceedingly difficult to thread tape across the heads with that shield in place, matter of fact some tape machines had quick releases on their head covers so that they can be removed on the fly easily. Let me reiterate one more time that I don't care what it's supposed to do or how it's supposed to be, I'm going to use it how I want to use it and that's it.
the tension bar on the right must be pulled up by the tape
You can buy one of them for like $8,500 on lots of money
eBay
Yes I know they're very expensive, the preamp and amplifier don't often go for much or let's say they're not that expensive. As I said in the video the main piece of this system is that sd1100. The only problem with a lot of these old Scopes is once they start to dim it means the tube powering the scope is going out, and in spite of this one looking quite bright, trust me when I say it was dimming. Which means of course that once that thing does finally go it's basically a paperweight and the only way to repair it would be to have a second unit that you use for parts.
Nice Song
You're right it is, I'm a big fan of Wes Anderson films and in the film The Life aquatic with Steve zizu, one of the characters just so happens to be a real life musician who also covers David Bowie songs in Portuguese for the film, and I always find them absolutely fantastic
Don’t k ow if this is the same as the A15 but mine is very thin from cold. Give it 30 mins or so and it comes alive. Mine is partnered with AE509s
