1 Triad Pair Trick = So Many Sounds!
มุมมอง 1.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Today we're exploring one simple triad pair from several different angles, which creates several different amazing modal effects when you move it around. Triad pairs are so useful for breaking out of just playing licks, and also as a means to travel around the fretboard. Guitar Shopping In Chongqing, China
มุมมอง 16K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I needed to make a little road trip this week to buy a guitar case, so I thought I'd film the experience so you can see what instrument stores are like in central China. Lower quality than usual, I'm afraid - Chongqing is a really noisy city, and my shaky phone camera footage isn't great, to say the least! Quartal Harmony

Quartal harmony can seem pretty vague and useless when you first learn it, but its actually a really powerful concept for implying different colours in both chord playing and soloing. Musical Uses For Diminished Triad Pairs
มุมมอง 7724 ปีที่แล้ว
Triad pairs from the diminished scale can sound great in blues or jazz, but also as an interesting composing mechanism. Even when triad pairs are drawn from weirder scales, like this one, they always have a strong feeling of melody due to the familiarity of simple triads. Chord Inversions - Make Your Guitar Practice More Musical // More Ray Charles

Ways to practice several skills at the same time, in a more musical way. Inversions don't just help with comping and rhythm playing - they help you visualise target notes for soloing and inspire new ideas. Ina guitar store in Qingdoa they point blank refused to remove the shrink wrap from a guitar I was probably going to buy. my Chinese wife was there with me and explained I needed to play it before parting with my money. They still refused. So they lost a sale . And other stores usually have paper wrapped aroung the neck and very reluctant to remove it . if you are lucky to find a store that the guitars are not wrapped they will never be in tune or even close to in tune and the strings will be shite.

This is great and eye-opening. Kinda wish it was based on an A chord (rather than Bb). It's a more familiar key for blues and rock players and the "out" notes are easier to visualize in contrast to the notes we're used to. Not a criticism, just a thought for future videos. Great job!

Chongqing used to be written as Chungking, famous as capital of Nationalist China during WWII after the Japanese raped Nanjing or Nanking in 1937. Chongqing was bombed by the Japanese with great loss of civilian life. Prices in any store in China are simply suggestions of relative value of one item to another, bargaining is mandatory with much protestations and complaints at the attempt to starve their children and rob them of the fat in their bones, in the end they always make a huge profit.
