I kinda wondered why Sonic couldn’t just use his super speed to take the map and escape (like he kinda did at the bar scene with Tom in the first movie). Current logic/reason; Probably was concern for Tails and he wasn’t thinking straight due to the “Pivonka” atmosphere.
