Yeah I think you're right. It's the hydrologic barrel lifters. I have a 02 Rodeo Sport V6 3.2 6VD1

all hose old SOHC motors do that. The lifters clatter like crazy in them once they get higher in miles. Also, the timing belt tensioners in these will make a noise but its usually louder.

Trust me 9out of 10 it's the timing belt tensioner belt slap could be lifter but my money is timing belt

It is most likely the timing belt tensioner which causes the chain to tap against the cover or the block.

Did you ever get it fixed? Mine's doing the same thing and I have no idea what it is.

hydraulic lifters should not tick. most likely the rocker shafts are worn. it's possible the litters are clogged but yeah. rocker arms. easy fix.

Every one of these i've seen does this. This is not a bad thing. They are hydraulic lifters. This is NORMAL.

I have a 1994 and mine does the same the 6 or 7 years all sound the same when produced.

Ya man it's the lifters mine dose it too. More often when it gets colder then goes away after warm up idle drops keep up on the oil and oil changes not really a problem unless the noise changes.

Hey I know on mine and other Isuzu 3.2 it was the Timing Belt Tensioner. Once they go bad it will make a knocking ticking noise.

I have 94 trooper 3.2. when ever I get low on oil it ticks similar to this. I add oil and it goes away. not sure what it is

thats common with that engine sometimes it will do it other times it wont if i remember right its something to do with the lifters
