The Origin Mark Dex - The No Mark Update
The Origin Mark Dex Challenge inspired by Bird Keeper Toby's Master Dex Challenge where the main goal is to collect a living Pokédex from nearly every generation from RBY to Pokémon GO to Scarlet and Violet.
In this update we go over "No Origin Mark" Pokémon collected from Gens3-5. That's 14 games AND some side games. We experiment with some save file manipulation, event injection, and DNS exploits.

Is this all pokemon with every mark that they can obtain like bulbasaur from vc, no mark, lgpe,sv, etc? Is there even enough space in home for that
There is not lol! I calculate it being 6300+ Pokemon in total. So some Pokemon will stay in their games, like scarlet violet, sword and shield, and bdsp to save enough space

Almost everything. Side game stuff and past event stuff are the only things I’ll cheese in some way. Very occasional use of save states. But I always mention it when I do! Everything else legit! 💪🏻
Speaking of Hayley’s trades, that required modding a Wii and hacking in the Pokemon ranch game since you can’t buy it anymore. (even though I did purchase it back in the day) Forgot to mention that
@@mrtylersquared I still have that game. 🥰 I'm gonna start speedrunning through FireRed and LeafGreen again today so I can all mons from official hardware only. Once I hit Gen 4 I can get my first ever legit Mew again.

@@mrtylersquared I used to have one back in 2007 or 2008, but when I wanted to restart my White game (I didn't had them all yet) I tried to send that Mew to Bank, but the program said this Pokémon was tempered with. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to that Mew (while saying to myself 'it's a game' to make it easier). You got your Hayley Mew successfully in Home, didn't you? I watched your other vids on the Origin Mark Dex but I don't recall if I've seen it or not.

when you open pack(s) and stars pops up it means it has a guaranteed 1 star card inside or higher. If no stars pops up, it doesnt mean you wont get any 1 star or higher card. You can still get them but its not guaranteed. I got my immersive Mewtwo Ex without the stars popping out after I opened the pack.
@@Spidermarv that’s true! When I streamed this I thought they were rare packs, but that’s a whole different thing I believe and way rarer
I started my living form dex last year. My intent is to catch/evolve the Pokemon in the region they originated from, all with the same trainer name, and all caught in Pokeballs if possible. I'm at 95% completion after playing on and off for a year. I modded my 3DS XL so I can play gens 1-7 on one console. I will admit I did cheese some things. For Pokemon like Deoxys or Shaymin that have multiple forms I saved before doing their event, backed up the save, caught them, exported them to PSKM, and loaded the save before I caught them. So each one is unique and I still had to go through the process of legitimately catching them. It just saved me a ton of time.
@@vinny9500 ohhhh congrats! I thought about doing something with the pokeball, but ended up cutting that. I might go back for that as a stretch goal or something. I do a bit of a similar thing in certain cases with save states too. I’ll cover those cases when I get to them of course. I feel like that’s an ok use of pksm and save states 👍🏻
@@mrtylersquared Thank you. The main ones I am missing are all the Unknown, and the legendaries from SV and PLA. I have to play PLA twice, replay Scarlet, and do my first Violet playthrough. So I've been procrastinating on that lol. I was going to cheap out and get all the Unknown through PLA because "they are tied to Arceus so it's not cheating right?" But against my better judgement, I am going back and getting them in gen 2 and 3.

When they say ‘first featured games’ they might be alluding to future games adopting a similar reward. Seems a little late in the game to do anything for Sword and Shield or LGPE

Not really too late. We still have yet to get shiny Keldeo and shiny Victini for example.
@@Leto85 I’m not saying they won’t debut Shiny Victini or Keldeo, just that it seems unlikely that the method will be completion for past games. I would think giving that much attention to Sword and Shield or so could run the risk of cannibalizing some attention from their newer game, which might be an unsound business strategy. But I’m not speaking to anything with certainty, there was no Shiny Meloetta a week ago so who knows?

@@mrtylersquared This happened yesterday. i think I just turned the game off at the wrong time. Although, I have the theory is that it also matters what pc boxes I choose and what location you choose the cloning trick, because I was doing this trick at the 3rd town, and the cloning just REFUSED to work. Mind you, this is on original hardware too
@@hisaceinthehole3426ok that’s interesting. I’ve never had an issue with cloning, but I always do it the same way. Starting with an empty box1, depositing the cloning target then changing to box 2 ( which I have Pokemon stored in ) I suppose with any glitch there are always risks. @@mrtylersquared thats not your fault. I've only seen warnings of pokes getting deleted every once in a while in comments. As it turns out, thats true. For full disclosure I ways deposit into box 13 and change into box 14, just in case anything goes wrong. For some reason, things work better that way, its really weird. BUT, just got a shiny cleffa, igglybuff, and elekid out of this.

I know it’s a bit of a late message but I was wondering if you could transfer them up. I have done the clone a few times, 10 to be precise. I was going to clone a lot of the eggs to do a hunt but when I was trying to transfer a few non shiny baby mons I wasn’t able to actually transfer them
@@PokeArtistAce depends if you’re playing on an original gen 2 cartridge or virtual console 3DS. 3ds -> use poke transporter and pokebank. (While servers last) Cartridge -> you would need to rip your save using a cart dumper -> inject it into the virtual console 3DS -> use poketransporter/pokebank TLDR: yes you can! :)
@@mrtylersquared I have tried, but when I go to transfer the hatched pokemon transporter says they cannot be sent. So I don't know if there needs to be another step afterwards
@@PokeArtistAceoh! Yes! You’re right. I believe you have to delete dizzy punch for them to transfer through correctly. Good point!

I did something similar but only focused on getting all the Pokémon from their original game and if there were remakes get the pre evolved forms, Fire Red Bulbasaur > Let's Go Ivysaur > Red Venasaur

hi! you were talking about getting a gameboy mark dunsparce, and I saw this on bulbapedia and thought it may be helpful! Since Natures were determined via personality value prior to Generation V (which itself is indistinct from encryption constants prior to Generation VI), a Hardy Nature Dunsparce with the Ability Serene Grace that is transferred from Generation III or IV to Generation IX will have a 50% chance of evolving into Three-Segment Form Dudunsparce all the best for this living dex quest!!

So, what mark to Pokémon tranfered up from gens 4-5 have? Since GBA games also would have the GB mark? I've genuinely been curious about this. Thank you for sharing and best of luck!
Good question. Gen3-5 pokemon do not have an origin mark. It’s just a blank space where other origin marks would normally be. I refer to these pokemon as NOMs (no origin mark). Pokemon HOME calls them “no origin mark” as well I believe.
I am trying to do a similar challenge in the games I own which are the Gen 3 Kanto remakes, the Gen 4 Sinnoh games, and Black and White. I know they don’t have origin marks, but I still like that they have unique met locations. I may have missed this in the video, but what are you doing about Pokemon that are not catchable in a game? For example, you apparently can’t catch Rattata in X and Y. Are you just transferring Rattata into those games and breeding them? I was considering doing that, but I’m hoping that’s some faster way since that’ll take a long time!
So for the rattata example, I could technically catch one from dexnav in Oras for the pentagon mark. The region won’t match, but there is no kanto for gen6. For me personally I would prefer to catch as many mons as possible, but I’ve kinda changed over to transferring and breeding now. EVENTUALLY I may go back for gen 3/4/5 and get them from their own regions so it matches (Kanto mons born/caught in firered or sinnoh mons born/caught in sinnoh for example) Hope that all made sense! Good luck on your challenge! Gen3-5 is still a good achievement to work towards!

Nope! In crystal as soon as you get to goldenrod you can do this. Before the 2nd badge.
I've read that Bank will still be available after April. I hope that is true.

@@mrtylersquaredwas able to get all 3 starters and 2 shiny magby and 1 shiny cleffa. Whiffed the glitch and lost a shiny pichu and another ahiny cleffa. Do you know by any chance if you can lose a pokemon forever if you try cloning Mons in your party and you get the timing wrong, despite saving in front of the pc?
