      @dog2484 no one can put up a horse video these days without attracting a hater desperate to get attention off of others. I'm sure you are an advanced classical dressage rider who is perfectly qualified to comment about horse training, but most probably not, because you spend most of your time on TH-cam or FB being a keyboard warrior trying to show off your superior knowledge and self righteous beliefs, pretending that all this anger and bitterness is because of your love of animals. Take that time and energy and go and do something productive with your life instead of snarking at others.

      @britneymoonpiestarstableon3960 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      spurs\\\are to give the horse a better understanding of what is being asked * a clear knowledge. curbs are not cruel or severe, they are called a leverage bit--meaning: they put pressure on poll to help keep head down and steady. ALSO is used again for more clear instructions. actually: both of these twos are to give a more clear instruction to the horse.

    • @Bekahsassy
      @Bekahsassy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BS! If you can't gain control of the horse on the ground, hence why you need all that crap to force it, otherwise it goes out of control and you end up on the ground. Spurs is to push the horse because there was no ground work done with the horse, so it does NOT respect you. Bits makes you believe your controlling the horse, but it is a means of communication, not control. This horse is being forced to do what the human want it to do vs the horse wanting doing it on it's own through cues.

    • @rohansrider
      @rohansrider 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why then is the froth often flecked with blood in the horses' mouths . Look at old films of Christine Stukleberger on Granat and Anky Van Grunsven on Parcival to name two and then tell me that is NOT severe Half-halts by the former were bordering on damn cruel. Both Olympic riders who were very severe and should know better .

      Keith Bartlam It's called Rollkur and well spotted. Horses that froth all over themselves are not enjoying their ride. Check out Juan Manuel, from Spain, and his Andalusin number 12. With this team, rider and trainer are one and there's no Rollkur, regardless of his stallion's neck.

    I like that he uses more legs than any Dressage ride I've come across, instead of just leaning on the reins. I'm a Western Pleasure rider myself, but that does not mean I'm going to hate any other riding sport there is. I use my legs quite a lot too, and use the reins for head position and lifting shoulders - which I assume He (and a lot of you out there) does as well? One thing I'm curious about is the purpose of the two reins (I'm not criticizing)? One is a snaffle and the other a correction - right?

    • @SibaldydeMonboois
      @SibaldydeMonboois 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's a good idea to use the bit as a correction. So I really don't think this is the purpose of one of the bits, besides it's obligatory to ride with a bridle so with two bits.

    • @equestriannnnnn
      @equestriannnnnn 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, its a double bridle. One is a snaffle (the bradoon) and the other one is a weymouth which is a curb. high level dressage horses always go in a double bridle

    • @lynnkelley784
      @lynnkelley784 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The curb is used to aid in the high level of collection needed at this level of dressage. The use of the curb, however, does depend on how well the horse has been trained. In some rides you will see the outside edge of the curb nearly parallel to the ground when being engaged..this means the rider is using a lot of pressure on the curb to get the collection. The idea is to get the horse so responsive and light that the curb is barely used but some riders use it as a crutch. Many of these upper level horses are schooled only in snaffles.

    • @keithbartlam4733
      @keithbartlam4733 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lynn Kelley The Curb Rein's ONLY use is to ask for a "dropping at the poll" (not the curling down and under as seen in this video), and also a correct neck extension, otherwise it isn't used. A correct neck extension is when one wants to stretch the neck OUT and with an OPEN poll, with the neck no lower then horizontal to the ground. That is correct classical French Riding....which bye the way the Cadre Noir no longer practice as I witnessed at Saumur last weeek!!!
