In my view, the Ukwuani nation and people should stick to and maintain its uniqueness. Uniqueness is what defines who a people are. We should maintain and promote our age long 'OKPARA UKWU system. Hurriedly adopting a foreign system does not serve the purpose of originality or preserving our unique heritage; one of the reasons for our fall outs with the igbos recently. What we need to adjust or refine is perhaps the council of 'one otu ukwu' system. Its selection , its composition etc. We can bring in more people, more achieved people. People from all works of life including politicians . lawyers, doctors , professors . lecturers , industrialists, seasoned elders who always speak up for the ukwuani nation, people that have the interest of the ukwuani nation at heart , philantropists etc. These are the ways to further define and promote who we truly are. Adopting other peoples systems is not a thing of pride at all neither is it a way to promote or preserve your heritage. Adopting other peoples systems is degrading your uniqueness if you look at it deeply. We are trying to copy or adopt what others do because they have preserved and very well promoted that system for centuries to thousands of years. If we promote our own systems very well someday some people will likewise desire to copy our system.
