Strathspey railway by drone
In this video we see some arial views of the strathspey railway located in Aviemore.
The line runs from Aviemore - Broomhill which is part of an older railway that extended up through to Forres but was closed in 1960.
The Railway is now privately owned and has frequent steam hauled services to Broomhill and back for tourists and locals to enjoy the amazing railway once more.
Here we see some drone shots of the strathspey railway's class 37 (37674) and LMS 5025. We also see depot views of the area.

Those are really great videos. At the moment, for 2024. There has been a load of different stuff going on, from charter to freight/ civil engineering train and regular (with 158719 in Levenmouth Rail Link livery) and for route proving and light locos too 😁

@@Zander_Trains That will maybe the 6K03 (operated by Colas). It happened last time that Colas did a civil engineering train up north of Inverness, using two class 37's 🙂
@@brandonstone9326 yes, I traced the working back and found out that it’s going to be operated by 37405, and 37610

Thanks, there definitely have been a few times the weather has not been on my side. When I filmed the video of the steam train at the viaduct I was soaked head to toe!
I think that I got the tour operator for 37403 is wrong, that tour was organised by Branch line society
Taking the train in the late 60s from Mallaig, hauled by a class 27, as the train departed, there was much sounding the horn and reving of the engine, so I looked out to see a sheep cowering against the rock face (as at 9'30"). The sheep, frightend to run away, was obviously not going to move, so the driver got out and pulled the sheep by the fleece with two hands and shepherded it out of the way, before proceeding to Fort Bill.

The stoneblower at 03:34 is DR80210 and it always runs under 6U30. every track machine has its own headcode it runs under no matter when or where it is running. good video mate

@@Zander_Trains just wait until you can see it on the strathspey railway they change the class 66 out for a heritage diesel for the trip to and from Boat Of Garten and then once it arrives back in aviemore the 66 then takes it back

Hmm must be an interesting tale about the sleeper through Forres!
Quite often it comes through due to engineer works, but some of the times there have been some quite interesting reasons

Me too, I would always keep a lookout for it when I was younger as it would regularly pass my house. It is still probably one of my favourite trains
