Hello Jim, thank you for the comment. We now add the locations and lock names in the top left of the video as we pass through them, on our more recent videos . However, we’ve been looking at integrating a map into the videos, to give a bit more location information. Once we’ve figured it out, we will be sure to add in more useful information. Thank you for asking. We didn’t have any issue with the noise from the railway line. Although I should say it was quite quiet when we stayed there.

@@needlemindtravels3857 thank you for that, I'm looking at a mooring spot there but I can see that a lot of canal routes follow the railways I just haven't managed to find out if it bothers any boaters. Thanks for the reply

If it’s your first time on a canal, I would recommend the Mon & Brec (canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-network/monmouthshire-and-brecon-canal) - it’s a small but beautiful canal, well worth a visit. We travelled along it a few years ago (sadly we didn’t film it), and enjoyed every minute. It’s disconnected from the rest of the network, which means it’s a little bit quieter, it’s not too long, and there are a small number of locks to complete. An alternative, if you’re interested in more of a challenge, is the Llangollen Canal. It’s truly stunning, and travelling over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is breathtaking. But, it is often very, very busy. I wish you all the best with your trip, please let us know where you decide to go.

We have got another little video about the books and maps… Episode 020 - Tips For Planning A Narrowboat Holiday 2021 - they’re a combination of Pearson’s Guides, Nicholson’s Guides, and Heron Maps. We picked them all up on Amazon, but quite often you can buy them at the canal marinas.
