❤
I was in Collingwood 34 mess in 1963/4. Sad to look at our mast that I trod first when we were brought over from the annex. Scared whit less going over the devils elbow that first time but we got over that and spent our leisure time clambering about on it. Too old for that stuff now!
Nice view of Ganges. I was there in 72
1965 Rodney 14
July 1971. Rodney 44 mess across from parade ground and the mast. Climbed it that summer. Stood and saluted, held onto the spike like with slightly bended knees. 50 years ago. Best year. Best times. England should be ashamed. But there you go.
Nice, it is amazing how the river reflects the sky so well, mud or water. I checked your video out before doing my own and it gave me some great ideas. Thanks.
I'm welling up here, just seeing the demise of the mast, shocking, should be restored as a national monument to all who started their naval careers there. "Jos" Jones, '63 recruitment, Exmouth 43 Mess.
beautiful place. Hope to be there soon
gorgeous
that was wonderful and great music. shame they left it go to rack and ruin.
The Button is hanging from a wire, great if it could be saved.
It is a pity that a mast fund was not set up. I am sure many of the ex Ganges boys would have contributed and possibly the UK Lottery. Sad.
Hi Peter, I am working on a television programme at the moment about George Michael and am interested in possibly licensing some of your footage of the Goring if you are amenable to this - can you contact me at derek.ham@kingofsunshineproductions.com and I can talk to you more about this. Regards Derek
My Brother Gerald Evison went to HMS Ganges in 1963.
I was there Sept 1974 aged 16. Such a sad sight now, and it looks so much smaller. The state of the mast is a national disgrace.
How lovely!!
DJI spark?
Old phantom 3 advanced 👍
I went there for 5 days and it’s amazing I loved watching people on the rapids because they went upside down and I loved all the other activity’s too thank you so much xxx
Do you know the maximum weight they can take the boreds
Красота! Это наверное дорогой город
My late father done his time there
Such a sad sight (site). Countless times I heard 'Parade, Parade - HO! on that now-neglected Parade Ground. Not ATTENTION as someone, ill-informed, wrote in a dodgy book about Ganges
Hello again-got the book. As you say so many memories- stand easy young man Mick p/073017
The music makes it seem like a establishing shot from wii sports
Nice one Rob
Is that a 4K camera on your craft
Peter Eliott hi it was an old 1080p phantom, thanks for looking
Looks like my old mess, Hawke One mess adjacent to the quaterdeck is nothing but weeds. Fantastic Video, thank you for sharing it,
So is mine.
The Stopps family sail again :)
Fantastic I see GEORGE MICHAEL house
gunsplanet GM brought me here.... what number?
hh yy it doesn’t have a number it’s next to the river though

Shotley Pier - the long straight one opposite the Bristol Arms, is up for sale and the local community group is in advanced plans to buy it and restore it for use as a working pier and leisure use. If you would like to know more, visit the Shotley Pier channel on TH-cam, or visit www.shotleyheritage.co.uk or www.shotleypier.co.uk Happy New Year
A mere glimpse of Shotley Pier at 6.02
Great view of Shotley Pier from 5.18 to 6.00
Shotley Pier in the distance on the other side of the river !
hi Peter, you may have heard that a local comunity group is aiming to buy and restore Shotley Pier - the long straight one opposite Bristol Arms. Do you have any footage of it at all ? cheers Sally
Hi Sally, Thank you for your interest, although I don't have any specific footage of the pier I would be happy to take some footage of the pier and surrounding area for you. I fly the drone commercially so would need to put some paperwork in place first, this isn't a big deal and would enable you to use the footage legally with no comeback from the CAA or other authorities. Please send me an email with your contact details to peter@scenicaerialimages.com and I will give you a call to discuss the project in more detail. regards Peter
Excellent video but very sad at the same time. I was a HMS Ganges boy sailor, joining having just attained the age of 15yrs (Aug 65) I was in Collingwood mess and a JRO. I absolutely loved my time there and cannot think of anything bad ever happening to me or my collegues, worked hard, studied hard and played hard. Everything that is missing in todays world.
That was amazing peter was that an actual website if so what are your plans for it thanks for cheering me up ging14
Nice video
HMS Ganges Served Britain well Set a lot of Kids up for Life So sad to see its Demise EX JI Collingwood 35 mess 67 Rec March 1964
1970 febuary enterd the anex after a few weeks we marched over to the main remeber how proud I was with marines band playing hearts of oak, placed in anson division had to polish everything on friday night including inside of dustbin ready for captains rounds saturday.fond memories,

+NMSCENS2 weirdo!!!
Heartbreaking to see the decline
Thanks for the fabulous footage of the mast. I was at Ganges as a boy sailor in 1972. I was in Anson division at the bottom of the long covered way all of which has now gone. Shame they didnt take the mast to another establishment as a bit of nostalgia. Eee!!! by eck they dont train em like they use too. Slinger Wood.
+Mike Wood Thanks - Hopefully they will return the mast to its forma glory very soon.
I was there today and near some steps was some writing in pencil on a piece of concrete - Dave and Don mess ?1 1972
