I am White Company and Team UK fighter Jake, I enjoy a range of duels and group fights and have several video uploads from our travels as a team and myself as an individual.
I specifically enjoy 1v1s such as Sword and Buckler and Sword and Shield. I do take part in Longsword and Profights too but more as an extra activity. My favourite categories are 5v5 and 12v12 buhurt though I do 30v30 if available and I took part in the 150v150 at Smederevo in 2019.
I started the sport in 2016 and in late 2017 founded the club Armoured Combat Gloucester (ACG) before eventually transferring to White Company in 2023. I have competed in multiple IMCF World Championships, Battle of the Nations and the recent Buhurt League World Cup where I earned Silver in S&B, Silver in 5v5, Bronze in 12v12 and Bronze in 30v30. At this point I've travelled to many countries multiple times to compete, including France, Germany, USA, Russia, Israel, Italy, Serbia, Netherlands, Denmark, Czech Republic and Poland.

This is Buhurt - A modern take on an old, historical sport. At tourneys in Middle Ages people would compete in armoured sport, more famously jousting - Breaking lances or unhorsing your opponent in the lists. Also in duels and mass melees, in France called "béhourd' which means to "wallop".
Our modern take is similar - Blunted (but real) steel weapons used to batter and smash your opponent into submission. The rule in 3v3 (or bigger groups) is, once anything other than your feet touch the floor, you’re out for that round. For that reason, judo-style moves are often used to make takedowns in combination with full power strikes to cause pain or knockouts. Once the enemy team is down or you have a 3-to-1 advantage, the round is called. Winning team is first to two wins.
1v1 fights are based on points scoring, more like a boxing match, usually with 2 points for head and torso shots and 1 point anywhere else and ground work permitted.
There are stringent rules on no strike zones such as feet, groin and neck areas with mandatory double cervical spine protection and a ban on arm bars or the forcing of joints the wrong way. Injury rates are surprisingly low, with very rare cases of concussions (less than 1 incident per whole event) and no recorded deaths worldwide - due to armour being effective and enforced safety rules. Both rugby and even re-enactment both have a significantly higher injury/death rate.
This sport draws both male and female competitors from a wide variety of backgrounds and offers both physical fitness and cathartic release from the chaos of modern life - Building friendships and camaraderie during arduous fights where trust and reliance on team mates is key to not just winning but avoiding injury.

Hahaha... This is awesome. If you did this is the US guaranteed someone would pull a gun. 🤣🤣🤣 (I'm American, and I'm joking)
There are also many American teams :)
@@windsock395 Yeah, we've got a lot of dorks...lol...
not a fan of the modern stickers on weapon and shield, not a good look in my opinion. seems refs are assholes everywhere
Which part of this video leads you to believe any of the refs are assholes?
ONLY BLOOD AND STEEL REVEAL THE HEART OF MAN
After the game, everyone has a tablet computer in the background to record the points of your body sensors. The referee can judge based on the tablet records.
wtf PLAY LIKE BOY

You're welcome to use this footage for materials so long as you give credit
White company’s teamwork is fantastic! Their matches are a great source to learn from.
Wtf did I just watch?😂
The plywood adds a sense of authenticity...
...What the hell is this? I don't think anyone ever carried an axe or a mace into battle to just hold in their hand like a totem while they hug their opponents.
Valid question, now answered in description
"Blunted (but real) steel weapons used to batter and smash your opponent into submission." But that's not what they're doing in the video. They're just holding them in the video.@@windsock395
I used to anticipate these type of videos were going to show cool fights but then I learned that the rules necessitate grapling in armor. Always a huge disappointment.
What is the goal? How do you win? Is this by scoring some points?
Valid questions, answered now in description
there should bhe a referree i saw the guy get his spined chopped by the long axe in first round and he continue fighting haha
they just need to stay on their feet don't they?
Dang it! I want to get in on this but I gotta get the kit and prescription sports goggles. So many irons in the fire. Excellent video sir!
give me a big hug
wtf? Enjoy your CTE, I guess.
No, but thanks, I guess.
shame the arm blocked the view
...😀
Someone show Dana white this
Is it just me but i find it extremly stupid that the referee isnt protected at all. She could get hurt badly.
It's personal choice. Most use gauntlets and a shield as they need to put their hands into the 'mess' sometimes. Others choose to wear more protection, but worldwide from it's beginning until now, there has never been a real injury to a marshal from a strike - to my knowledge.
how do you attach the go-pro I'm going to be doing something similar.
had 5 pieces of stainless welded together to form a cube without a back plate and cut a hole out for the lense and straps. Sewed some fabric together with buckles and done.
@windsock395 I'd have to see it. But that is what I was think a armored box. I do SCA but blunt force is blunt force and camera expensive.
@@windsock395 did you cut a hole in your sir coat and put the camera beneath it?
@@ImperialMarque No I made the staps the same colour as the tabard and painted the steel the same colours. It sits just beneath my helmet's aventail but is nearly invisible.
@windsock395 alright that's where I was thinking is a safe spot.
💪
