ChatGPT fools my co-workers (ft. @heyBrandonB)
I pitched some AI-generated video ideas to my team at @heyBrandonB and... everyone was fooled.
I used GTP-3 (the precursor to ChatGPT) to train a custom model to generate some video ideas specific to our style and brand. The results were... interesting, to say the least.
Thanks to Lewis for the inspiration for this months-long prank!

Have you ever come across a book, or a video, or a song, that you were meant to make? Its idea was already in your head, an idea you've been thinking about for years. I enjoyed the film as well as your video guide here! Great density of info and techniques. For some weird reason, my scanner detects certain geometry as a page edge, and so it will sometimes scan one object as if it were 5 or 6 pages. I don't fix it because it just causes the scanner to produce more interesting imagery. I had an idea to get a camera that does Panorama mode and then try doing scanography techniques on an entire environment. Maybe I could make extra-wide wobbly trees? :D

    • @MarengiOmnisystems
      @MarengiOmnisystems หลายเดือนก่อน

      I figured out that my scanner has an option called "Scan pages as separate files" which, when disabled, makes the scanner only produce 1 image per scan. So that's solved. Scanography is great! I got a new scanner for Christmas and was up way too late making experimental imagery with it.

    Really cool you mentioned Brakhage, I definitely agree in considering him a predecessor, or at least an important reference, for these approaches. I think looking into Structural Film, especially the work of Michael Snow, Ernie Gher, Takashi Ito and Toshio Matsumoto is also crucial in this context. Thank you for your wonderful video! :))

    There are a small posibility that this fuction do not work if you have a late vertion of after effects? Im running a old vertion and actually the simples expretions like loop.Out() the need to be write in a diferent way. I am beein very carefull how to name the layers and this expretion and its not wortking. z = thisComp.layer(¨Controls¨).effect(¨Z-dist¨)(¨Slider¨); [position[0],position[1],z*(index-3)]

    I am not convinced that there’s a lot more going on with the process for the McLaughlin brothers and others. In many instances they are drawing from existing time lapse or video footage, as well as satellite imagery and pre-indexed material. This is more than ripe for macros or iterative programming, and as others have pointed out, AI. I say this because the work itself just clearly is far too complex and well-aligned to have been entirely handmade. It might be the case that they have custom written image analysis software or even a background in computer science. What’s certain is that these videos are extraordinarily technically impressive; and it’s not just a matter of brute force.
