It was the opening match of the Boks tour here. Waikato were fired up and a player called Don Clarke impressed the AB selectors to pick him in the 3rd and 4th tests which the ABs both won to clinch a first ever series win against their old foes.

As an Otago man as much as I love to be reminded of the 1998 final vs Waikato. I think it was foolish to include any Waikato moment from that match. Waikato fans don't want the memory of that final. Btw in 2018 I think the passion between Otago vs Waikato is well alive between both sets of fans. Long may it continue.
