DIY Smart Lights - Home Assistant
Hey. How's it going?
You're probably here because you just watched a 15 minute video about home automation yet it gave you exactly zero clue on how to replicate it. May I interest you in some links to other 15 minute videos?
Step 1: Buy a raspberry pi and install home assistant.
www.home-assistant.io/installation/raspberrypi
Step 2: Watch a better youtuber than me.
th-cam.com/video/sVqyDtEjudk/w-d-xo.html
Step 3: Follow these two videos to a T. I skipped around and regretted it later.
th-cam.com/video/F57zx3qQXuY/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/OGiDPIx_mVQ/w-d-xo.html
Step 4: Install ESPHome on your ESP8266. I found these to be helpful.
smartsolutions4home.com/ss4h-go-smart-garage-door-opener/#software
esphome.io/cookbook/sonoff-basic-light-switch.html
Step 5: I think I watched this too
th-cam.com/video/4kKiQWl44VU/w-d-xo.html
Step 6: If you insist on copying my code
github.com/smit1988/SmartLight/blob/main/README.md
I'd link to the parts I used but I would seriously not recommend them. Everything broke. It's not worth it, just go get a Sonoff Basic. Go pause on the video when I show the modules if you insist.
Other than that I didn't do anything too revolutionary. I can provide the 3D models if you would like them, but they're very specific to my setup. The github goes into a bit more detail about the Home Assistant configurations. The Konami code bit was actually legit so I would recommend taking a look at the github above for more information on that. Oh yeah I had to edit it out for time and I'm not sure if it's mentioned in any of the above links; to send a Google Nest voice command to trigger a Home Assistant script, use the Google Home app. Set up a routine. If you followed the above videos correctly, all your scripts should be synced and available to trigger using the app. Simply set your phrase and have it trigger a script. Boom that's 99% of the video.

Touch Screen TV Board Game Table

Welcome to the description for this video. DIY your own 65" touch screen for ~$700. The code I used can be found in the github below. It requires Construct 2 to run. It's also super buggy. Good luck. github.com/smit1988/TabletopGame Here's a BOM without links because links are mortal beings and will die one day Minis Forum Z83-F (amazon) 65" IR Touch Screen Frame Overlay (aliexpress) Plexiglass...
Lazer maze for your living room
มุมมอง 4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
A tutorial on what not to do! Build a laser maze in your own home for the low cost of a few bucks if you already own hundreds of dollars of tools. Also have weekends to spare. DIY in a nutshell. I have prepared absolutely nothing for distribution. If you want the schematics, electronics used, 3D print files, code, or anything else - leave a comment.

You sir are the funniest thing I've seen on youtube for a while. Thanks for the laughs and you have so few subscribers (how?) that you will reply back to me and I will get all excited and say "hey you know that youtuber I told you about" "Who" (girlfriend) "The guy, the one I told you about with the game table that I was going to make but now aren't going to make after watching the video", "What, guy, what game table?" "Seriously F*******K YOU!!!, Well anyway he replied to me and that makes me feel good inside, can't you just be happy for me?? Why can't you just be happy for me" Literally how it will go down.

1:42. THIS. I don't understand why forums still act like it's the mid 90s. SEO is a thing and text based pages like forums have it in bucketloads.

dude you are so funny. are you writing or creating anything these days ? also I'm building a similar mission impossible laser maze. i like your setup more than the others with the auto light calibration, the timer/game aspect and mirror reflectors. can you please share the 3d print files and code?

I wish there was a way to get the infinity table software i feel like the hardware is not too bad but the software seems to be the killer.

Nooooooo! I had this idea ages ago (even down to the idea of using separate devices for private hands of cards etc.) and thought I was so clever. Earlier this year I decided to start trying to turn my idea into reality. I found your video while looking for reviews on using those infrared touchscreen overlays to turn a big TV into a big touchscreen. And after doing a quick search I can see now that there are a whole bunch of people who have had this idea before haha... Oh well. I'll still go ahead with my idea as although the hardware implementation will be quite similar, I plan to use very different software and I have quite a few other ideas for how I want mine to function. I thoroughly enjoyed the family review sketch!

Let me know how it turns out! I'm not married to the software I made. I was hoping for something a little more off the shelf but couldn't find anything suitable.

@@noahsmithelectrocuteshimse1564 Sooo- I can save you a bunch of time and headache on at least 3 common tabletop games. Hasbro released the Family game night for PC back around 2008 and it includes Monopoly, Yahtzee, Life, as well as a couple others. The game pack is now free and hosted on retro websites (a quick Google search) and these games work remarkably well on touchscreen. You still will have the orientation issue with anyone on the opposite side of the screen, but I normally opt to sit there to not cause issues. I modified a 32" Infinity Game Table and it now runs full Windows 10. I also find the 1998 PC version of Sorry! to work excellent. All in all, these are the best touchscreen versions of these games I have played and I 100% prefer these versions to the physical game board counterpart. It's worth a look!

I know this is a super late comment but do you know what caused the input delay on the monitor? Is it the infrared sensor, computer, monitor, or a combination of all 3?

    • @noahsmithelectrocuteshimse1564
      @noahsmithelectrocuteshimse1564 ปีที่แล้ว

Boy, to be honest I don't remember. My best guess is just rewatching this video. I know the software had no lag. I used it with mouse and keyboard just fine. The TV probably had a few milliseconds because it wasn't set to "game mode" or anything. But I remember using it as a computer monitor during development...so it couldn't have been too bad.
