Whiplash Fishing
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 มิ.ย. 2019
Hey guys welcome to WHIPLASH FISHING. We target a range of species around Bundaberg in Queensland, including coral trout, grass sweetlip, red emperor and a range of pelagics. We fish live baits, dead baits and lures to show off some of the amazing fishing we have in our region. While chasing some of these big fish with a great bunch of mates there is a definite emphasis on having a laugh and enjoying the opportunity to escape to the ocean. Feel free to ask a question or make a comment about any particular videos you enjoy. Cheers!
SPANISH MACKEREL, CORAL TROUT AND MORE - Successful Day Fishing off Bundaberg
Some nice pelagics and reef fish on a good day fishing out from Burnett Heads. The sharks gave us a hiding first up but we ended up with a box of quality fish.

Perfect Weather Perfect Fishing - The fishing turned it on with a great range of species caught

In this episode we headed out in some lumpy seas due to the early morning fog but once that cleared the weather really turned it on and so did the fishing. Mad Mike was once again the fish slayer landing the biggest fish of the day while Rizza and the Skipper did their best to fill the gaps in the esky around Mike's big fish.

In this video we got onto some fish early on and then decided to go wide! As the saying goes "you don't leave fish to find fish" and on this occasion it was true but we say "you gotta risk it for the biscuit", we took the punt, it didn't pay off, but we still managed to bag a few nice fish.

BULL SHARKNADO - Reef Fishing When Sharks Patrol These Waters
That was a pretty good sesh mate. Door did well and even the skipper 😮 did I give you my haloumi crumbed cobia recipe?
@@crikeymacca cheers Macca. Yeah we’ve had that a couple of times came up pretty good 👍🏽
How far out do you go roughly
@@WillLoudon-c2f we’re normally fishing between 18 and 25 miles out from Burnett Heads.
Where’s that at?
@@halespinfex about 20 miles out from Burnett Heads on our last trip. Waiting for some better weather to get back out again.
terez overhead and talica. best combo for bottom bashing
@@smithys3512-lg5yx yeah I’d have to agree. I like the Talica 8 with the lighter Game Type J rod but when the taxman is around it’s a bit under gunned.
You didn't answer last time. Why do you take the weight off as boating fish? Just curious!!! Bruce
It's mainly just to protect the fibreglass boat, don't want them swinging and banging around. Makes it easier to handle too as we run a fairly long leader from the weight to the hooks.
Nice haul again fellas. Hey what rod you running on your overhead John?
@@crikeymacca hey Macca I’m using a Shimano Terez 7’ 30-65 pound rod with a Talica 10. Good compromise between power and sensitivity when the fish are mucking around with the bait before committing.
@@WhiplashFishing78 yep I thought so. I’ve got one of the older white ones. Love it. Great rod
wow underrated
Noce catch down n bundy hope you celebrated the good day at the factory
Love it when days like this happen 👍
Why do you almost always take the lead off before dealing with the fish??
@@brucelester5316 swinging sinkers and fibreglass boats don’t mix well.
Looks like another fishing trip!
The more the merrier, just need some more good weather 👍
After that performance by Mad Mike he might have taken my spot permanently 😂
Perhaps a "fish off" is required to see who gets that spot 😉
I think Mick might be over-qualified for the red team 😉. Cheers for another great day on the water fellas.
@@geoffsimons8993 I reckon I’m on the same page. Cheers to you and cheers for the red team 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Holy moly that things a tank
I reckon the highlight for Mick would have been heading down the back of the boat to see the skippers little tool.
What weather app Do you guys use thanks awesome video
@@kathyjensen3336 we normally use Windfinder but it pays to look at a few different weather apps to get a general consensus. Cheers Kathy.
What nice weather finally 👍 and some awesome underwater footage looks great
Would have been nice to see some bigger fish on the underwater footage but we'll find them eventually
Nice one fellas. Good to see the sharks still leaving you alone.
We've been lucky recently and haven't found too many of them. Just a shame it can't be like that all year round 😆
We’re is this is it the Gregory patch or 25 mile fathom hole?
Red was caught about 25 miles NE of Burnett Heads. We normally fish from 18 mile and push a bit wider depending on the weather.
Awsome video mate! What hooksize are you using ?
On the twin hook rigs we run an 8/0 octopus/suicide as the front hook and a 6/0 live bait as the trail hook. Cheers.
That’s the dream
Nice result and looked like a fun trip. I noticed you fish out of a F360M, I'm seriously considering buying a F360S soon and even though they might be slightly different in size the layout looks virtually the same. How do you find everything with the boat. Is there enough fishing room at the stern? Most trips I have will be a max of 2 or 3 people. Anything else important about these boats that you think I should know. I'll be seeing one in the flesh in a couple of weeks.
Check out this video we did on the F360M th-cam.com/video/aceBeXGU2EU/w-d-xo.html The most people we fish with is 4, 1 on each back corner and 1 on each side about halfway along. Fire in any more questions you have after watching the video and the skipper will be more than happy to answer them.
Would be awesome to get a good population of mahi around bundaberg, great fish
Yeah would be great. I think the guys trolling out a bit wider see a few but wouldn’t be surprised if they frequent some of the wrecks that hold good bait schools at different times of the year.
2 good trips in a row fellas. Here’s hoping you get the trifecta
Cheers Macca. The weather has put the brakes on us pretty hard this year but hopefully things improve coming in to winter 🤞🏽
Great trip guys - approx how far out?
Hi Lex was pretty windy in the morning so didn’t push out too far. Fished from 18-21 miles on that trip. Cheers.
Nice box of fish lads 👌
It's been very helpful that the grey suits have left us alone for a bit recently 😂
What’s the fish on the drying rack for at the end mate
This method may seem a little controversial to some 😬 but because we are filleting and skinning so many fish we wash the fillets off in a salt water brine to remove scales, blood and slime. After they are washed we place them on the rack for a few minutes to drip dry a bit and then they are placed into a container and put on ice until we are finished. Then the containers are taken inside and the fillets are given a quick pat down with paper towels before they are divided up into lots and cryovaced. Some fillets are kept fresh as they get eaten in the first few days.
Nice work fellas. Ya reckon that’s wire weed in that second underwater shot?
There’s a fair bit of life there. Couldn’t say for sure we saw Japanese wire weed but on our last trip we had a fair bit of fine brown weed covering everything we dropped to the bottom. Saw it really bad about 4 years ago made fishing pretty difficult. When you heading up this way for a fish again?
@@WhiplashFishing78 the brown stuff is snot weed.
@@WhiplashFishing78 asap. The misso is hankering for some revenge on the sharks
Wow you guys has a great session to keep us entertained, What style and class that everything came up gold, I am looking forward to part 2 Cheers Garry
Sometimes we manage to turn it on for the viewers 👍
Good to see you fellas got some good fish ,Mike would have itchy feet 😂😂😂
We have to leave him at home sometimes we get sick of being outfished every time he comes out…
Looks shite. What was the catch of the day that day?
Luckily for us we didn't have to fish in that water. Think it went about 10 miles offshore but we fished much further than that.
Liked that one John. No red fish but great quality box. How fat were those bull sharks!!
It doesn't matter how fat they get it never seems to reduce their appetite for our fish nor does their size slow them down to give us a chance of getting our fish to the boat 🤣
Love the video how many mile do you roughly go out
For this trip the first place we fished was about 18 miles NE of Burnett Heads and the furthest spot was about 25 miles.
Breaksea obviously if you’re fishing in that depth hey?
Fishing around 20-25 miles NE of Burnett Heads. Breaksea spit is a LONG run will probably have a look one day…
@@WhiplashFishing78 yea righto though u had to go fisher for that sort of depth out of there
where do you launch from near Bundy mate great vid
Thanks Bruce. We launch from Burnett Heads all tide access with an 8 lane boat ramp. Cheers.
Great friend, very good fish catch, Very fun spot, friend...👍💪💪
Thanks 👍
I liked the video and the fella's on the boat seemed genuine, not like some possers you see, but I couldn't help noticing the constant sound of a sinker or something tapping away in background throughout the whole video
Thanks for that 👍 I'm thinking that tapping sound could be the Boga-Grips tapping on the side of the bait board. We have 2 of them, 1 on each side of the bait board. Otherwise it could be a rod in a rod holder moving from side to side. We'll check it out next time we're on the water and see if we can eliminate it.
What a cracker of a day weather wise haven’t seen that in a while. Even though you muted skipper I could still hear what he was saying 😂
Such a hot day, surface water temp was around 32 degrees 🥵
Grouper here. Beautiful fish
Definitely one of Australia’s best 👍🏽
This is seriously one of the most educational clips I’ve watched thanks so much - amazing pointers !! Will definitely be trying the jigging assist cord. Are you leaving the top hook loose (not snelling) and running to a solid ring - or ring and swivel… ? sorry couldnt quite see it.
We used to incorporate a solid ring but now we’ve simplified it a bit. We tie the leader straight to the 8/0 with a uni knot or equivalent. The assist cord then ties to the eye of the first hook (next to the leader knot) then tied to the eye of the trail hook. Use enough assist cord so there is some slack when the bait is rigged- this allows it to swim freely and present as naturally as possible 👍🏽
@@WhiplashFishing78 amazing will try thanks for the response - you rock !!
New subscriber here - really enjoying the content thanks !! What hooks are you using on the Livebait rigs ?
Hi Karl thx for subscribing. We generally run an 8/0 octopus as the front hook and 6/0 short shank/livebait hook that gets pinned through the back close to the dorsal fin. We go in to a bit more detail in our ‘How to Livebait’ video - take a look if you’re interested. Cheers.
@@WhiplashFishing78 cheers that’s awesome - will go check that video out !! Appreciate it legend

Great video of you guys fishing but a Master Class??? Where is the info. As a Mexican ( Vic ) it is great to learn about your fishing up there.
Fair point Lindsay. Lorne gave us a lesson that day but dunno if he’ll share all his secrets haha. There’s a how to video on live bait fishing that covers most of relevant info for this type of fishing on our channel if you wanna have a look. Cheers and thx for watching 👍🏽
Yeah what a shit trip 🙄 most would consider that a trip of a lifetime. Spoilt you buggers up there. Nearly time for another visit.
Yeah sorry Macca we set a high standard for ourselves that most people can probably only dream of 😂

Dead bait, would have been either a piece of squid or a fish fillet
