Elk on the Trail near Grand Canyon Village #wildlife #seasonalwork #nomad #grandcanyon
Always a surprise in store on the trails near Grand Canyon. Usually you will not see too many people on the trails near Mather Campground and GC Village. There was an elk jam on the main road though. Traffic came to a halt for a while, and many people pulled over to the shoulder to catch a glimpse and take photos

1-2 Weeks of Vacation Time is Unacceptable (the US System) | Walk on Playa Langosta Beach, Mexico
มุมมอง 544 หลายเดือนก่อน
1-2 Weeks of Vacation is Unacceptable! It seems common in the US, that many employers only offer 1 week of vacation for most jobs. You need to work at the place for like a year before you (in theory) get to take your vacation. Often, they will describe this possibility as if it's an incredible perk of the job. Wow, one whole week! In my opinion, this is completely insane and totally unacceptabl...

Everyone I know these days is broke. Most people in the country don't have $400 for an emergency. Most emergencies are probably going to be much more expensive than that. Much of the country is living paycheck to paycheck. Wages are pretty low overall, for most people, and inflation, the cost of living is sky high right now. When these prices go up, they usually don't go back down very much. So...

Some great tips Jim Have a great new year 🤠🙏🏼 Simon
Thanks for tuning in and commenting, Simon! Wish you a very Happy New Year as well! 🎉
I like the list.. except the skipping meals.. Unless you enjoy it for health benefits.. Eating well is a pleasure in life you should have even as a minimalist.. I assume the seasonal jobs provide cafeteria meals sometimes? that is a nice perk...
I usually feel better and have more energy if I stick to intermittent fasting. OMAD is a little more of a challenge. I kind of cycle in and out of these things though, and definitely agree eating is one of the great pleasures of life! Lol...Yes, at seasonal jobs food is sometimes provided, or part of the contract, and some places will at least give you a discount on meals and groceries. Definitely a nice perk with the high cost of food these days. Thanks for watching and commenting. Wish you a very Happy New Year! 🎉

Sounds like you have a plan and sound a balanced way to retire/ work less as you age Jim As for me well state retirement is now 68 min if you not wealthy (so it’s a similar approach to you I feel) Best wishes and have a great Christmas 🎄 Simon
It's similar here, full retirement is 67, and they are always talking about raising the age. Thanks for your comments, Simon. Hope you have a great Christmas as well! 🎄❄☃
People think retirement means you stop working and stop and do nothing. or just travel.. If the work keeps you engaged and into it you can work beyond the quote retirement years. Maybe you can keep working the seasonal jobs..
I agree, if you enjoy what you're doing, why not keep going. It's good to have hobbies, things to motivate you, and working a low stress job for a few hours a week might work for some people. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice footage Jim 👌🏻 about as close as I’d want to get to this magnificent bear 🐻 I had a close call in the Tatry mountains with a brown bear 🐻 Best wishes my friend Simon 👍🤠
Hey Simon! I hear you, it was about as close as I want to get with a grizzly as well! I was always on high alert and carried bear spray when hiking in Yellowstone. Were you hiking when you came across the bear at the Tatry Mountains? Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great weekend!
@ yes we where hiking up to the start point of a climb up Rysy 🏔️ the Tatry have a lot of bears the most in one region in Europe
Time for that bear to go to his den !
Hopefully the bear is sound asleep in the den now! Lol...This footage was taken at some point in the summer of 2023. Thanks for watching and commenting
Nice! Thanks for sharing this has been the first place I have been wanting to go to when I start seasonal work!
No worries, glad you enjoyed! I think it's a great choice! :) Wish you all the best when you start seasonal work. Would love to hear how it goes, keep us posted. Thanks for watching!
Arizona has many beautiful places! I did some meditating in Monument Valley during the pandemic. Was very quiet and peaceful!
That is awesome, Monument Valley sounds like the perfect place to be during the pandemic. I know for people who lived in GC Village during that time when the park was closed, they pretty much had the canyon all to themselves lol...I agree Arizona has some amazing places for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Everyone I know who tells me they're going to Las Vegas, I always recommend this place.
It's an awesome place to get out into the desert and escape the city for a while. I will definitely be back some time. Vegas really is surrounded with great places. 2 hours to Zion, a couple hours to a few other national parks. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for doing this video. I’m a retired RN….

Thank you for the sub as well! I really appreciate it
That for 200 bucks is a steal, but I am just wondering, what do you plan to do at an older age? Is this type of lifestyle viable for elderly people?
Thanks for your comments! I think it is definitely viable for older people. When I have worked seasonal jobs in national parks, there are usually people of retirement age working for a few months during the summer. It's a great way to spend a lot of time outdoors in a national park. For people just visiting, it's hundreds of dollars just staying in a nearby hotel for a night or two
As for my older age, I guess I will just be winging it. I feel I have had a non-traditional work life so far, so I will likely have a non-traditional kind of retirement or semi-retirement. I'm working on projects to bring in some passive income, and work a few hours a week online as well. Hoping to keep building these projects in the coming years. Thanks again for tuning in. Have a wonderful week!
I will be going back to China soon.
Awesome! Which city are you going to? I'm hoping to be there at some point early next year as well. I wish you the all the best on your travels!
@@WanderingMonk55 I will be in Zhuhai and Guangzhou.
Nicely presented, well done.
Yes Jim it’s not getting any better any time soon I fear in the UK big business and right wing enablers have made life harder and for some very very hard 😢 Thanks for discussing this ! Regards Simon

I feel like the number of homeless people has increased a lot in the last few years. Our parks are full of tents and people living in cars. Rent and mortgages are far too high compared to wages.😢
It is the same here, it's really sad to see the decline of the US over the past few years. Getting harder just to afford a basic, simple life these days. Thank you for watching and commenting, my friend. Have a great week 🤗
I envy your life! Just wondering, do you have passive income? What about a "home base" such as a permanent home?
Thank you for watching and your kind comments. Believe me, my friend, my life is not that glamorous! Haha lol...Nothing to envy, anyone can do it. I do not have passive income right now, but I'm working towards that. I put together a small savings which is like a cushion (I plan to make a video about this topic soon too), and I can take several months off to travel when a seasonal job finishes. I also found some online work (like 15 hours weekly) which I've been doing recently, and is giving me more flexibility to travel and take time off. No home base, just living a nomadic kind of life, staying in seasonal housing and sometimes Airbnbs for a month at a time. I like the flexibility with this. How about you, are you considering seasonal work or maybe teaching English overseas?
@@WanderingMonk55 I'm not sure, this whole concept is so foreign to me, but I'm so sick of the 9 to 5 grind...humans were not meant to live like this! Your path sounds amazing.
I'm glad too see another youtuber talking about this. Timonthy Ward is the seasonal work king he is the first one Ive seen on TH-cam talk about it and his experience. I wish I would have found out about this sooner. This is a way out of the boring 9-5 hum drum existence of the masses and to be able to travel and save money.
Thanks for watching and your great comments! I'm a huge fan of Timothy Ward, he is an inspiration. I always say I wish I would've found out about seasonal work sooner too lol...I hear you it's a way out of the soul-crushing 9-5 existence for sure, at least this option is out there!

I agree costs have gone up. However, I believe most Americans have a spending problem and moreover aren't willing to sacrifice or do what's necessary to change their situation. They make excuses, I used to be one of them, but I realized you gotta do whatever takes to save money, give up some things for a while and boom your solid. Now enjoy life!

I think your comments about the impossibility of saving money and getting ahead are true in other parts of the world not just USA, my homeland. You really do have to do things differently if you want to break free from the slave system. Decide! Then choose a different path. Do your research and find your own path.❤
So true! Thanks so much for a very insightful comment ❤

Ive always wanted to see New Orleans. Ty❤
One of my favorite cities. It used to be known as a bohemian place, a lot of artists, and very affordable to live there. Now it's tough, rents are very high, and jobs there don't pay very much. Still a great and unique place to visit though
I told my grandson live at home and apprentice as a builder. Save up money working while living at home then buy land and build a small home that you can add on and enlarge as you need to. Never take out a bank loan. Your home is your biggest expense. Once you own your own place then follow your heart and do your dream work or travel.❤
That's great advice, I totally agree! Once you have that base, you are free to follow your heart! ❤
What is the point of working to have fancy things you never have time to enjoy?
Right?! That seems to be the situation many in the US are trapped in these days. Stuck on the hamster wheel. Thanks so much for watching and your great comments, I appreciate it! 🙏🏽❤
I have alweys strived to work either seasonally or only part time and live frugally so that at least some of my time is free to do what i love.
I've been doing the same over the last few years. Trying to find remote work recently, but also hope to just work the summer seasons in/near national parks here in the US, then spend the other months of the year traveling and working on my own projects of writing, music, and making videos. The trouble sometimes is finding work that pays well enough to save and not need to work for a period of time. What kind of seasonal or part time work do you do?
@@WanderingMonk55 I raised calves one year. I work two days a week now as a caregiver. The rest of my time i live life!
