    Hi Jess! Thank you so much for this video, I hope I'm not bothering too much with a quick question. I have used your video before and everything was perfect. All of a sudden things went wonky (probably a Windows update, I swear it borks your audio every time!) So I went back to the beginning, factory reset etc, only this time obs is only showing microphone options (secondary and chat) but no speaker options so I can't pick output options for the new audio input sources. This never happened before and I'm clueless how to fix it. Thank you ever so much in advance if you can help at all!

      Hmm, I've not had that happen before, so I'm not quite sure what the reason could be. Have you had a look under System -> Sound -> More Sound Settings -> Playback, just to make sure that your Rodecaster is set as the default playback device? I'm on my laptop now so I can't see exactly how my own is setup, but that may be the issue.

    I sent my Duo back. I'm a single PC streamer with no Podcasts and it was pretty much overkill for anything I wanted to do. I really would have liked if it could have been used with multiple virtual devices so you could control the mix on the PC with physical sliders. At one point I was using Unity as well as the Duo and it was just not a good solution. I'm sure it's great for podcasters but for just streaming it's not the right tool.

      @@zeeble The virtual channels thing is something that they are working on introducing, as their team on the Discord have been letting us know, but there's a lot of backend things they need to put in place first for it to work properly. So it is something we'll get eventually, but I totally understand why people aren't happy to wait. Unity isn't developed for the Duo or the Pro. It's specifically for their Streamer X device, but it just doesn't have all the physical sliders of the Duo, so I didn't even really see it as an option. I hope you manage to find something that works for you! 🙂

    Hello! I have a question! I recently upgraded to a Rodecaster Pro 2 for my gaming setup. I was wondering if you could answer a quick question I have on it? So, normally when I use OBS I would listen to videogame audio and everything through the audio mixer’s “monitor and output” so I could adjust as I game, I use an Elgato HD60 S and that was the best way I could hear the game audio and record it without causing an echo. However, now I listen to everything through the Rodecaster and for some reason it won’t pick up the audio monitoring through OBS. I was wondering how you have yours setup and how you hear game and stream audio through yours or how you have your setup working? Thank you so much for your time, any information would be greatly appreciated!

    • @cleosaurus
      @cleosaurus 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! So I still have my setup in the exact way that I did it in the video and I've had, fingers crossed, no real issues with it. I don't listen back to stream audio because I trust that the levels in OBS are accurate (following the red, yellow, green colour coding in the audio mixer). This is going off of memory as I don't have OBS on my laptop, but I will have my mic audio in the yellow/amber area in OBS, and any game/music audio in the upper (though not too close to the amber) part of the green range. I just make sure to test a game's audio in OBS before I do the livestream, to make sure it's not accidentally jumping into the yellow, as that means the game will be louder than you are. If your audio isn't monitoring on OBS (like above), it could be an issue with the setup as sometimes the Rodecaster just doesn't like configuring in OBS properly, which is why I ended up making this guide video as I had no end of issues with it. I'm guessing this might be the issue you're having, but it's a bit difficult to say without seeing how you've set your Rodecaster up. Sorry if this isn't much help, but feel free to ask anymore questions if you need to. :)

    I bought it this week and I'm having a problem that I can't solve, I'm leaving it here in case someone can help me. When it comes to monitoring myself, I hear double all the time. I can't find the middle ground no matter how much I mute channels during routing.

      @cleosaurus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, are you hearing double when using the settings I did in the video? It's a bit difficult to help without having an idea of your baseline settings. If you're really struggling, I'd recommend joining the Rode Discord server and you can open a query on there. That way you can post screenshots of your settings and someone will be able to help.

    • @cleosaurus
      @cleosaurus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Shivil Hmm, there's a couple of things that I can think of at least that may cause that, such as the green button below the microphone slider. If that's enabled, that may cause you to hear double (though I'm not at my desktop so I can't test to see if that's the case). There is a feedback setting so that you can purposefully hear yourself back, but that shouldn't cause you to hear your voice twice over. It may be worth checking to make sure you don't have 'Listen' enabled in your windows Sound Control Panel. So go to Sound, More Sound Settings, Recording, Double-click the mic you're using, and just check to make sure 'listen' isn't activated on there. Otherwise, like I mentioned, the Rode Discord may be the best place to go so you can provide screenshots of your settings. Sorry I can't be of more help, it's been a long while since I messed around with my Rode settings and I don't quite remember if I had an issue with hearing double at any point.

      Ok, here I leave what ended up working for me in case someone who watches this video is useful. What was happening to me is that the microphone was coupling with the sound of my headphones because it was extremely sensitive: this sensitivity came from the gain that Windows itself was giving it internally. The solution has been to lower that gain (within the Windows Sound settings, in Record), and deactivate the 'Allow applications to take absolute control of the devices' option. I hope it helps someone.

      Hi! Yes, I still use the Rodecaster Duo and it is my main/only piece of kit for this sort of thing. I've only really had one or two very minor issues with it since I did the setup in the video, so I didn't really see the need to swap it out for anything else. Whilst getting it setup wasn't exactly perfect or ideal, it's done the job I needed it to and still is. :)

      @@cleosaurus Thanks for the quick reply, glad to hear that you're personally enjoying the duo, I noticed in your video that your mic quality sounded perfect, I recently got my own duo and realised that I had quite a lot environmental noise and when messing around with the noise gate while I did cut off the noise I was then having a problem with how sharp each end of my sentence was, are you currently using the pre-set for the nt1 cause if so it might just be the quality of my mic

    • @cleosaurus
      @cleosaurus 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @crafttobaffto Yeah, I use the NT1 preset, but I also use a filter in OBS to help with some of the lower level background noise. I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head unfortunately. Also, I do have sound absorption panels in my office space, though I can't remember if I had them at the time I recorded the video. But that may be another reason you're noticing a quality difference.

    I have my audio set up but when I have all my faders at unity it sounds great but coming out of my headphones but obs to my stream or recordings it sounds so loud it clips all audio sources I have to lower them so much with the faders that I can’t even hear my self or audio in my headset

    • @cleosaurus
      @cleosaurus 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your mic is clipping, I imagine it's not set up quite right on the Rodecaster. I don't use Unify as its not really meant to be used with the Duo or the Pro, so I can't really speak for the settings you have on there. My mic is set to 33db on the Rodecaster and then I lower the volume in OBS to about midway and that works for me, but it may vary depending on your microphone. I imagine you have the right dB set up in Unify but maybe not actually on the Rodecaster, so when the audio is going into OBS raw from the Rodecaster, it's just not got the right settings. I may be completely off base though. If that's not the case, then I'm honestly not sure as it's not an issue I ran into at all.

    Idk why but for routing I haven’t seen anyone people use Unify where it has 4-5 virtual audios, like the goXLR does , maybe it don’t work for this rode interface or something

    • @cleosaurus
      @cleosaurus 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unify was made for the Rode Streamer X. You can use it with the Rodecaster to some degree, but the virtual channels can only be used in the software, not with the physical sliders. The whole reason I wanted physical sliders is so that I don't have to click out of the software I'm recording and also not to have a whole other window open when I'm streaming. So Unify will work for some people, but it's really not made for the Duo or Pro and can't be configured in their Rode Central app. Having Virtual Channels that can be programmed to the physical sliders is the big thing a lot of people are waiting for.

    • @Editedbyzenzo
      @Editedbyzenzo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cleosaurus I didn’t know you couldn’t use the sliders that’s dumb, yeah I’m tryna find a replacement for the goXLR, the only thing is straying me away from this is not having 4 audio sources I love the fact I can’t have separate audio from my game and my discord and whatnot.

    • @cleosaurus
      @cleosaurus 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Editedbyzenzo Yeah, it's because the software is made more with the Streamer X in mind and not the Rodecasters. It's something they are working on, it just is taking a while as they have other updates they need to do to set the stage so to speak. There's no lead time on how long it'll be until they have virtual channels for the Rodecasters unfortunately. I don't know enough about the Streamer X to say whether that's a good alternative, I just don't like the fact it only has one physical 'slider' so to speak.

    For mix minus, I realised most people without some sort of audio background just stuggle with the "mix" notion. Once they get it clear, they tend to handle it fine. A mix is just all your inputs (audio source) all together.Then you use your Mix to output it somewhere. So the "outputs" page is this: I select the output at the top, and I select what I want to go there at the bottom (the mix) . The reason for Mix Minus is because some "inputs" are also "outputs", so you want to tell the mixer, for this output I selected, take everything in, but ITSELF. This is enough in most scenarios, to prevent your listeners to hear themselves (echo). Custom is relevant when you want to use more complexe setup with two chats/applications and you don't want to get everyone in the sauce
