Sometimes you just need to scream “LET ME OUT!”
The music of The Smashing Pumpkins is nothing short of iconic
Interwoven with that music are lyrics that vary from being so bare boned and honest they tear your heart open, other times poignant and effortlessly speaking to a universal truth, and still others deeply ensconced in the metaphorical, or seeming to select words for the way they feel on the tongue or the interplay between them more than the nuts and bolts of black and white definition
And sass, there’s never a shortage of sass
Cherub Rock definitely hits some universal truths.
Feeding that little flame inside even the quietest of us, reminding us that life is invariably made up of choices, whether we like them or not
And Cherub Rock has more than just a sprinkling of sass
I hope for all our sakes that songs from our teen years hit a little differently now that we’re the ones in charge of our lives, but I don’t think we ever need to stop enjoying belting them out with abandon at concerts
For younger fans living their own journey, Have At It 🤘
(But please stop smooshing me at concerts, I bruise easily)
