...Rousing finale to this, wonderfully crafted production. Based on the life and times of itinerant workers who settled In Hastings, on what became known as the America Ground. (following a dispute with the 'authorities'), the musical draws a parallel with the settlers plight and contemporary issues.

The annual, Fun-Run to Hastings, for special needs children, their carer's and family. Following the free ride's, kindly provided by Flamingo Park, exploring the Hastings Aquarium and the Old town. The 'Day-Out' continued in the grounds of the beautiful, Powder Mills Hotel, in the heart of 1066 country.

Just seen video 4 year's late,,,,,Hastings seems to have a cool laid back vibe, ,hope it is similar nowdays...
I, and the rest of the cast, had a great time and feel privileged and proud to have been part of it. Not to much blood, but a lot off sweat, a tear or two, quite a bit of anxiety and the result was brilliant.
Yes, Bob and the cast put on a Fantastic! show.

I lived in Hasting when Priory Meadows was being build. I'm feeling old lol
Priory Meadow failed to improve the towns financial future. Burtons gone. Evans gone. It's a just a corridor with a roof now, and has nothing to offer in the way of retail. A waste of money for the most part. Hastings remains a town with numerous charity outlets and boarded up shop fronts. Wages are low, unemployment high. Seemingly it has gone beyond financial rejuvenation!
I agree Hastings has, become rundown, there was, talk many years ago about the regeneration of the town. The council is having to cut back. On expensives.
Love these guys, this year they had a whole family of penguins , we also made a fun video visiting the centre this December,, hats off to these great singing penguins . thanks for the video ☺🙏🏻

Sat here idle this evening an I thought I wonder if I can find my collection of air raid sirens on the internet anywhere. Of course I can ha ha.
The original structure looked like it used a lot more iron, whereas the refurb seems like exclusively wooden frames and facades. SO much wood. Everything, wood. I'd like to see some 90's footage when it still had the coin-op arcade machines and Quasar. I suppose VHS cameras were still too bulky and expensive then. Does anyone know where Quasar (which became a nightclub) was actually located? I can't tell if it was above the ballroom or in the upper section in front of it. Thanks for the upload
That is a pity it would be fascinating to see the original arcade machines on the pier! I believe the quasar bit was just in front of the ballroom, there is actually a brief bit of footage of it in a Hastings documentary from the 90s! And you can see a brief glimpse of an arcade on the pier in the video for oh labour by Dollar which was all filmed at the pier in the 1980s
Quazar was above the bar area of the ball room. many an afternoon in there spent saving the universe.....I have said if i ever win "Big" on the lottery I will buy the pier and build a ball room back on the end of it.....the Plank of wood it currently is although "looks" pretty to posh people has no chance of making any money to make sure it is there for the future....yes with me in charge you aill get bands back on the pier...Bexhill college parties will return and most importantly......the 10p drop machines! I would also set it up as a centre for performing arts with practice rooms/recording studios on there for young upcoming Hastings talent

Thanks for your consideration. I was there taking photo's (published in the local paper), my brother, did the video, unfortunately we both missed the war memorial, so Steve has 'improvised', I think the added music compensates pretty well.

Wow I'm in this and had no idea we had been filmed after all these years 😮 Am 1 of the first 10 people right at the front of the crowd to set foot in there. Was an hour late getting to college but was worth the free goody bag the first few of us were given and don't think I'll get in any trouble for jacking the first hour at hcat after all this time 😅

Love these type of videos, seeing things back then, and comparing them to now. I'm from Hastings, but have lived in Birmingham for around the past 15 years, went to college then got housing up here and made a life for myself. Hastings, will always have a special place in my heart, my parents still live there, and I go down to see them now and then and vice versa. Priory Meadow is still there, its kind of small to what I have now in Birmingham, but it's all I had at the time. I still have, fond memories shopping in, electronics boutique back in the day and smiths. Woolworths, was always down the other end near McDonalds. Nice video.
