Btw... If someone was so inclined, There is a federal program where roadside plaques can be purchased that denote the historical significance of demolished structures, landmarks highways etc. Most state Lt Govenors office would the information on Blue Star Highway plaques and a similar historical programs. They cost around $3-$5 thousand dollars each and are solid bronze.
It’s a shame someone couldn’t buy it and give a second life. Of course that’s easy to say. Much more difficult to do. Successfully
I still don't understand why they tore it down. It would have made great office space for the city or county, or even move the Board of Ed there.
I graduated from the old building in '03, we were told we would be the last graduating class.....that ended up not being true lol. I, like a few others, hated my time there then, but now as an adult I have a likeness for old buildings & I was sad to see it go when they tore it down, saw it first hand.
class of 04' last class of the school :(
Graduated in 1972. One day, while in the main hall at the corner of the auditorium wall, I watched as the tile half-wall peeled away from its mortar and, like a wave, collapsed as it came towards me. It left a real mess and an indelible memory. I think Principal Douglas wanted to blame me somehow. We were usually at odds about one thing or another.
