Jump in with Pastor Douglas for a quick swim in the day's scripture reading.
The Daily Plunge is just that. A quick plunge into a scripture reading taken from the daily lectionary.
We suggest you read the passage for yourself before you listen to the teaching from Rev. Dr. Douglas Schoelles.
We hope this will help you to increase your understanding of scripture and deepen your connection with the LORD.
Pastor Douglas works his ways through books of the Bible in bite size pieces which can be found on the playlist.
You are invited to join us for worship at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana or check out our church youtube channel.

You don’t even get into it lol… that’s a prophecy that is yet to be fulfilled…. 66:17 is literally saying those who eat abominations will be destroyed when Jesus comes back. Period. No eating pork
The Daily Plunge is intentionally short at 4 minutes long. How much can I cover in that time? Every sinner will be destroyed when Christ returns. But what is the gospel that God promises?

Where he mentions Apostle Peter quoting from an OT Prophet, he is quoting from "Amos", and in Amos' time he wrote that Sovereign Lord said there were days coming when "the ploughman will overtake the harvester", but this was only after a severe famine that the Lord said He would bring upon the land, a famine not for bread, but a famine for hearing the Word of God !!!
Oh that people were desperate for the Word of God. But sadly even so many Christians are not eager for God's Word. With the bible in our hands the only reason to have a famine is the lack of listening to the Holy Spirit.

There was an expression "The fathers eat sour grapes but the children's teeth get set on edge." The men of Israel at that time were making people believe that God was punishing them for their father's sin, but God set them straight on it and they were not allowed to say it anymore because it was not true. Generational sin starts occurring when many fall into sin and their children follow them in their sin, but each is judged individually for their own sin. God expects children to obey their parents, but from the Torah to the NT and then the Quran etc..... There are provided teachings for children to know how not to repeat their parents sins.
As Ezekiel proclaims each generation will be judged for its own sin - which was the case before as well. Even though fathers are called to teach their children how to walk in God's ways throughout all the scripture, ultimately no amount of sin management will suffice. Every generation will be judged as sinners. Our only hope is the salvation found in Christ. THANKS for watching the Daily Plunge. THANKS for your comment.
