About to start making videos again. Will try to use as many hand tools as possible, because I enjoy them. However, I will occasionally use power tools and even a CNC Router.

Please start making your videos again, and when you do, treat us to an explanation of your choice of wood (and style of cut) and especially of your hand tools. I especially enjoy watching you craft the Arts and Crafts style products.@@builditnotes7551

The morise and the tenon shoulders would have to be angled. That is a little tricky but definitely doable.

I can see that may be a reasonable alternative.

I used a tenon saw. Sometimes also use a carcass saw. Most of my nicer saws were from Lie Nielsen. I did use loose tenon, made by a Festool domino, on the rails. Have also just cut tenons instead on some step stools.

Yeah, its a Festool Domino, a relatively pricey tool. Dowels or biscuits might work.

Quarter sawn oak is still available in many places. However, it has become much more expensive. Locally, I get it from the North Carolina Hardwood Store and quartersawnoak.com . Hope that helps!

Thanks for that detail. I used a plastic boot tray. Shallow as not to waste the Evaporust but long enough to hold a blade. Dowels should work if you use two of them to prevent rotation of the rails. Instead of a domino joiner, I have also hand cut the tenons as I do in the plans on Etsy. Here is a video on hand cutting tenons th-cam.com/video/KXoCV_fyUiY/w-d-xo.html . It was my first video, so no music and I was brief. But I do enjoy hand cutting them and then using a shoulder plane or rabbet plane to trim them to the size of the mortise.

Definitely easier with those tools. I have built a very similar version with my Festool Domino and table saw. However, I also enjoy trying to test the limits of what I can do when only using hand tools sometimes.

Also, currently working on a mission-style bench video where I use a Festool Domino. It saves tons of time. Should have that edited in a few weeks.
