If you find that tedious, try the modpack AutoFirmaCraft... The idea behind it is to make you travel through technology age, so you began with literraly mudhut as your first ever house. Don't expect to mine anything before putting at least 10 hours (if you know what you are doing) in it. I recommend it with friends.

It's not even realistic, irl you can find rocks in rivers and get any stick and fibrous plant and make an easy axe obviously processing would be needed like notches and sharpening

Don't forget if mobs walk on the wet bricks, they break. Better than Wolves is absolutely insane when it comes to difficultly. I've tried to play it, but my computer was the one who just couldn't. So I watched mud flaps play it. Crazy stuff that I'll hopefully one day get to experience myself
