The Model Shipwright, Paul Lester
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 พ.ย. 2013
My channel is mainly about model boat building, although you will find some other stuff loosely related, like yachting, as I am a member of our local yacht club and it is another of my pastimes. With the model building I try to bring info and techniques to help others, as well as showing the interesting hobby and the build journey. Hope you enjoy.

Thank you so much. I am a 39 year old. Where I was growing up. If your dad didn’t know or grandad didn’t forget it. No one would show you. You are keeping this going appreciate you. There’s doing the rigging and then there is tying it 💯👌
lifesaver 😭😭
I tend to use sandpaper instead of blades if possible. Reduces risks including A&E
any chance that this build will continue ?
I’ve started using jewellery needles they are flexible and fine makes getting through the blocks so much easyer
Amazing build. Im doing the Mayflower from Artesia and they dont have premade stair rails in the the kit. Any hints on building from scratch?
Thanks very much just beginning

What is the make? I couldn't hear over the sound of the wind.

Good looking boat. Best of luck with your adventures. Hoping to get a boat of that size in the next couple of years.
Best of luck!
Well done, Sir, well done indeed.
Such ugly hairy ropes are a real shame, no matter what tools you use. Hairy ropes kill the model.
*PromoSM* 😋
I’m curious Paul. I did some research into ZHL who make this kit as I’m looking to do one myself. I encountered some amazingly emotive posts. I really like the half/half frame/planking. Overall now you have completed the project, any thoughts on the kit quality? Sorry, you may have answered this in another video. Regards.
I love watching this series. I'm building a YQ Bluenose and using you videos as a practicum. Could you please give me a link for the magnifying light seen on several videos Thank you
One of good Blessed City 👍
Thank you
Helpful video. Thanks 👍🏻😎
The wheelchair guy has a voice, and likely asked to be taken down to watch. It's a wheelchair with an adult, not a pram with a baby. Unwise, certainly, but we have the choice to go or not.
Great for helping me build the mayflower i had bought for me
Sound like Bettsie is back
Fantastic work.
Many thanks!
Nowt like a bit of sand to give you grip lol
Heck, never seen Scarborough like that! Apart from the odd sea fret, it's usually "cracking the flags" when we go.
Beauty work! Masterpiece!👌👍☺️✌️thanks for posting video! And everything good for you!!
Thank you very much!
Funny how wind and waves didn't need a name until the media were owned and instructed to instill fear.
Not so sure it's about fear but more about respect.
I enjoyed that. What a sea. And a terrific wind. My MiL waived the end of her life in a Scarborough nursing home and so we visited a few times, all in winter. I enjoyed seeing it again in adversity.
This is so interesting,I’m fascinated.
Wow! Thank you Paul, 😊 That was an amazing trip through Scarborough East harbour. Loved it! Born and brought up in Scarborough, been living in New Zealand for 50 years.
Glad you enjoyed it
Good job hanging in there and getting all that footage. Nice post! I subscribed. :) Cheers.
Thanks for the sub!
seen big a Waves in bsth
enjoy your bath, it must be a big one.
Seen you down there. The Storm was rough which I filmed
Pleased there wasn't more damage.
What's up with people? Thanks for posting your video. Its just raw video in lousy weather. Well done!
Thank you too!
Tailgating in those conditions ,,,stupid
Storm Stupid Name
Oh for heavens sake, I’m born and bred in the Northeast of England right by the rugged North Sea. Have a great view of the sea and lighthouse from my bedroom window. This is regular at this time of year and I’ve seen far worse than this in my 61 years, I just disregard it 😴😴😴
Thank you for your comment, I too was born here, however we have not seen a storm like this since beast from the east and north easterly gales are not as frequent as they once were. Also remember there are thousands of people who live inland and rarely get a chance to see this.
@@TheModelShipwrightPaulLester I didn’t even notice a storm, I was too busy working. The ‘beast from the east’ wasn’t wind it was below zero temperatures and thick snow for weeks. My niece and her family live in the North of Scotland and often she will say “oh that’s normal weather for us” 👍🏼
It was actually Anticyclonic Harmut, dubed, Beast from the East, which brought bad weather to most of the UK including storm force winds of 70 mph to the east coast.
@@TheModelShipwrightPaulLester I hear what you’re saying, but I really barely noticed it 👍🏼
Always wonder what happened to PEG sailing yacht She was moored in harbour for years then gone probably sold on
Yes she was sold, Brian who owned her has retired from sailing.
no ferry to Whitby today then! ...we would only spill our beer anyway....
It's some bad weather... So what? Just because they give it a name, it doesn't make it the apocalypse.
Thank for your comment. No not quite the apocalypse but a rare sight for people who live inland.
I think the one standing has already read the other one's Will 😂👍 Looks like someone has bit of cleaning up to do ?? Definitely some wild weather. Great weather to inside in front of the fire.
Want an ice cream now I've seen the harbour bar !!. Rest of scarborough looks the same just a little more weathered.
Apparently it was completely flattened and it caused Tens of pounds worth of damage.
Like many UK seaside "resorts", pretty grim looking place in my opinion. Suspect not just an off-season look either. Impressive footage of the storm.
EEE By Gum, Belting Day for a 12hour fishing trip, lol
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMMENTS, SOME NICER THAN OTHERS BUT THAT'S LIFE, I HAVE REPLIED TO MOST, BUT TOO MANY TO REPLY TO ALL,
Along time ago, i remember a bad high tide crashing waves on the marine drive that reached the base of the castle.
I remember that too.
Nice seafront promenade - far west Cornwall managed to avoid the worst this week, although there was a very, very high HIGH TIDE last Monday, with sea coming over the sea wall, but nothing too out of the ordinary for Penzance
I lived in Porthleven for a couple of years and was with the Navy down there, it has it's share of rough weather.
@@TheModelShipwrightPaulLester absolutely yes
Incredibly dangerous but one of the most impressive things you can see - the power of the sea! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching and comment.
Yes but you must admit with the planet warming up you could feel the heat coming in off the sea.
Can't say I got close enough.
That's the result of a low pressure system. Not of a warming planet. I'm guessing you watch a lot of the msm. Turn that brainwashing tool off and here's some real science. 🔍 Tony Heller twice as fast
After spending summer holidays there a few years ago, its always interesting to see what resorts are like out of season in bad weather.
It changes very quickly, today (Sunday) you wouldn't have known it happened, we even had a yacht race and the speed boats were out.
