@@richg1331 Ortofon om5e cartridge/stylus. But what transformed the sound quality is the heavy mass wooden plinth.

@@ianunes25 Hello! I give up, this is complicated for me. I opened the turntable and there are many parts that need to be removed to get to the arm.With Akai it was much easier :-) Thank you very much for your reply.Kind regards

@@progrock70s92 yeah can be a bit complicated if you not used to refurbish turntables. The easiest I saw so far was the Pioneer PL-512/514/516

@@progrock70s92 this turntable doesn't have buttons for speed. You are probably confused with the Rotel rp-855

@@ianunes25 I'm sorry, you're right. I confused with Rotel RP-855. I have RP-855 but all along thought my turntable is RP 830 😀 I'll try to do the same thing you did with your RP 855. Before I did it with Akai AP-B20. Your work is more than wonderful👍👍 Thank you very much for your reply.

@@michaelvincent8306 the Rega for what it costs it's an amazing sounding tonearm but I prefer the SME, the quality, the looks and you can set-up pretty much everything.

I'm not aware of a turntable that doesn't need an amplifier.

It definitely is... originally was piano black but it became very scratchy so I replaced the vinyl

I never see an Audio Technica cartridge with inserted threads. But if yours have, drill them out may be a solution.

@@ianunes25 thanks for your answer, it was my fault. The new at vm 95 has inserted threads, I ordered a old at95, and it works just great on my thorens. What an upgrade to my dual 510! Greetings

It’s a record clamp, basically a weight that stabilises the record and reduces vibrations ( in my experience they don’t make much difference but that’s just my gear and own opinion)

It's really impressive how a £15 cartridge with a conical stylus sounds so good indeed.

It's from the video although having the speakers so close to the turntable is a bad idea because the stylus can catch the vibrations and cause distortion.

Yes you need speakers and a amplifier with phono input or if the amplifier doesn't have phono input then you'll need a Pre-amplifier in between. I don't know where you from but here in UK worths around £100.

I sold some and got different one's. At the moment I have 12 turntables on my collection. One for each month of the year 😂

@@jimsregaturntableshifijukebox the Duals CS505-2 and CS505-3 I made the wooden plinths was my favourite projects. Sound quality improved considerably regret selling those I might built a new one soon.

Yes a service all my turntables myself. This one had a new drive belt, centre spindle cleaned and lubricated, polished the platter, replaced the plinth black vinyl for mahogany, motor was cleaned and lubricated and replaced the capacitors.

Dual CS 505 even the mark 1 is good. Very underrated turntables

@ianunes25 how does it compare to the other turntables in your video, especially the thorens.... I sold a thorens td 125 with sme 3009 tone arm and was thoroughly ripped off! You don't want to know how cheap I sold it for! I was young and very bloody dumb!

@@Dee.J.Mogfry this is a entry level turntable. Thorens are not. It's a different level and yours with sme tonearm even better I would say a £500 turntable with that arm. This Dual compared with Pro-ject is way better IMHO. I modified 2 Duals with custom made wooden plinth and the sound improved a lot. Check in my channel. I'm just finishing another Dual CS 505-1 with custom wooden plinth 🙂

@ianunes25 yeah...the thorens 125 is good...lol.. I'm 50 and my father retired 5 years ago and specialised in patenting hifi for 30 years...i kinda know my stuff... The projects are good but I've always thought the dual is slightly better... The ortofon cart is good...not the audiotechnica....not a fan of them carts...

Any metal polish will do the trick. I use Autosol

Find weird people relate with a Pioneer PL-12D. Quality is poorly in this turntable compared with a PL-12D. Thanks for the info Mark

Dual is not plastic, only the plinth chassi is metal. Rega have a much better tonearm. thanks
