Thank you and yes a challenge today with suicide rate. In our culture suicide was never an option. Feeling sorry for oneself a real Irish sin. Get slapped upside head for thinking so much of myself. And suicide non optional choice in years before 2000, media propagated theory that only a lower would kill themselves. Much different than today's marketing of suicide an option to pick, when life surely at its end or tired of the fighting. I was taught to March on. No matter what to have an attitude of go get em more when chips really down. My question is how does one find meaning if they have no children or family.? Thank you appreciate your wonderful presentation.

I found the lack of more interesting interview questions to be a total shame. Time we can't get back. it's easiest to lable alcoholism a disease for the ones who are too wet brained to understand anything else. take what you need and leave the rest. and always help a fellow alcoholic if you can. #28 and counting.

Currently re-reading Frankl's great book which has been very helpful! Needless to say, a real gem of a book, i.e. philosophical /psychological and spiritual teachings! What an incredible life experience he had! "We're spiritual beings having a human experience"..the late Dr. Wayne Dyer, may they both rest in peace~ Thank you for this podcast~ L'chaim! To life! 📚♥

🍻for grandfathers. My grandfather used to put his chappati in his pocket and bring it to his many grankids, and even though what share one got from the piece was so tiny he was casting his kindness to the future which is us that is how we all remember him. I give money to kids in my family and friends when they least expect it. Legacy matters.

I "met' Victor Frankl and 'Man's Search For Meaning' when I was in my first year of graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania 1970. He gave me my first real building block as a clinical social worker: Love! He stood at that fence in Auschwitz not knowing if his wife and children were dead or alive. At the root of everything, it didn't truly matter because the energy of LOVE connected him to them no matter what. He touched me profoundly because I had already "met my own Auschwitz." I stood at my fence and was able to choose LOVE...and pass it on in my own practice.

  • @oooodaxteroooo

I think the essence of saying "Everyone has their own Auschwitz" is that suffering is the relation of circumstances and ressources. For someone who has just one leg, climbing a hill is a feat, while physically unchallenged people will say: Hey, its JUST a hill. The extent of trauma relies on the ressources you have to shield.

I can really relate with the idea that you discussed regarding feeling like your talents are not being utilized at the job. I work for the state, and for all the civil service test that I’ve taken, I ended up in education finance which is hilarious for anybody that knows me. I’ve worked in several areas over the years and I always find that when I’m working on something that interests me, I obviously do a better job and I’m more thoughtful about my process. I believe it was Jim Collins who wrote in his book Good to Great, - and I’m paraphrasing - Get the right people on the bus and get them in the right seats.

I especially appreciated the explanation with examples of attention, awareness, and mindfulness. The segment on self-scan and reflection was also really helpful! I have this book on pre-order and am looking forward to receiving it! Thanks for posting this interview with the author.

“Fearvana” author, Akshay Nanavati, is a man who has definitely survived impossible things. The extraordinariness of this man... what he’s survived and what he’s accomplished is an exceptional teaching addressed to your “Books to Business” audience. In a life of ordinary daily business and personal life requirements (respond, fulfill, meet, learn, acquire, achieve, share, serve, assist), Akshay addresses the fact that we too can create a world of extraordinary. If we consciously look beyond our pre-programmed ordinary mindset of emotional fear in the unpracticed, unpredictable or unknown, and instead self-direct ourselves to live a life where we expect to expand from the ordinary to extraordinary in our actions and decisions we’ll inevitably create a domino effect that can change the world. Gracias 🙂

Exceptional podcast offering study on the power of habits. Individuals mustn’t relinquish their circles of control (our own thoughts, the decisions we make, our general attitudes), nor neglect their circles of influence (results of our work, our selection of friends, the impressions we make on others by our character and values). An intentional selection of our inner ⭕️’s is essential in all areas of our lives; making allowances for negative influencers in lieu of mindfully making positive choices can alter our world! 🤔 Oxford’s definition of “sensible”: of a statement or course of action chosen in accordance with wisdom or prudence; likely to be of benefit. Gracias... for being legitimately rightful influencers 🙂
