Philosophy, theology, and the connection between philosophy and theology
Aristotle's Ethics - "Nicomachean Ethics" (Books I and II)
This builds on the last video, but also goes into his actual arguments and examples. Aristotle is against both the Utilitarians and Deontologists, and his human-centered ethics irons out kinks that he thinks exists on either side of the modern debate. I hope this helps with anyone that needs the lecture explained better!

Bunkum . Just try mapping “ rational self-interest “ as the moral foundation of human life, rejecting altruism and emphasizing the pursuit of one’s own happiness as a parent . And see what monsters you will create if you don’t destroy your children first .
@@Jide-bq9yf "Capitalism as Ethics" is likely a more honest title for what she's doing.
@ ok , thanks .
Very high quality video. Love the images used. Thank you.
@@JohnathanSalome Thank you!
What a great video, clear funny and concise. Thank you!
@@JohnathanSalome thank you!
Ethics was made obsolete by game theory. Talking about ethics in this day is not productive.
@@bocckoka That is a first order moral skepticism comment, but not a second order one :)
Thanks for the thought provoking presentation. An interesting chap, to say the least.. At first blush seeing the term, 'non-cognitivism', followed by the quote, "morality is imaginary", my first reaction was, "totally.. So is thought, right? Uh.... I think? No scratch that.. bah never mind". Anyhoo.. cool vid. Thanks again.
@@Koenshakuable Thank you! P.S. The next video will be a kind of counter to the moral skeptic, and you might like that one too as a follow up.
Professor, can you tell me what is rational about being ethical in a world where your politicians are corrupted into plutocratically serving big business, keeping the minimum wage at poverty levels, allowing child care costs to soar to absurd prices, keeping housing supply artificially low so prices, and the equity of homeowners, can continue to grow...? Among other things
That is what the world has always been. Ethics is the only thing that makes you better than them.
Would Kant in today's society be accused of using double-speak and gaslighting?
@@richardboldbrooker6327 No. He thinks lying is wrong on all accounts and in all scenarios.
I hope you're doing well! Your Video is very interesting, I like your content! But your channel is not well-optimised, Video "SEO" score is very low. That's why your channel rank is very low in Subscribers and video views. If you fix the "SEO" area in your Video, you get huge audiences.
@@RobiulIslam-p2s Thanks for the advice! I'm not 100% sure I know what I'm doing, so I appreciate the advice and the compliments both :)
The part about fallacies was helpful
