Leaves Change Color in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina - Late October
This is a drive we took in the Fall of 2023 up the Black Mountains near Boone North Carolina. It was getting very close to Halloween and we wanted to be there at peak leaf color turning time, and we hit it perfectly on the head in 2023. If you’re wanting to do something similar, near the Black Mountains, I strongly advise you to look at that last week and a half of October.

    • @thehometipsshow
      @thehometipsshow 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So, if you have any technical skills, I found that the keys I replaced didn’t hang on very well and it was easy to damage the underlying metal prongs. So I went ahead and bought a brand new keyboard and put it into my MacBook Pro. It works wonderfully. You do have to completely dismantle the computer, though which means taking out the motherboard prying out the keyboard. It’s a pretty involved procedure, but there are a lot of TH-cam videos out there that can walk you through it. I did not film my replacement however the new keyboard was only $39, I also recommend that while you have the access to the CPU that you remove the heat pipes and reheat sync them using heat sink compound. There are procedures out there for how to do that as well on TH-cam the problem with those old MacBooks is the old sink compound dries out, and so the processor will throttle down Much quicker and the computer will get hotter. Since I’ve done mine, it’s much faster and cooler in the fans don’t come on as much. I apologize for any misspellings or grammar issues. I used the voice dictation to type this.

    Can you give us some tips on how you trained her to do that?

    • @thehometipsshow
      @thehometipsshow หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, the first step is, she had to know how to fetch and bring the ball back and give it to me and the last part of that one’s tough because she never wants to give it to me, but she brings it back so after we establish that she could just bring it back and drop it near the machine and then she would see me pick it up and put it into the top of the machine. I started tapping on the floor closer and closer to the machine and until she started dropping it, you know Closer and closer to the machine and then I started putting it on top of the machine and she would kind of run her nose in and knock it in because she figured out it had to go in for it to throw it so she would help that process along. We got stuck there for a while, maybe two or three more sessions of 15 over the course of a couple weeks. But finally one day she brought it up, put it on top of the machine and dropped it in and of course she got rewarded very big for that.. we haven’t played the machine in a while, but I took her upstairs about a month ago and she picked up right where she left off. I would say, though she would be an expert now should I have kept making those little incremental changes in her behavior regarding dropping it in the machine much more frequently.

    • @thehometipsshow
      @thehometipsshow หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just watched the video again and the other trick that was key was if she brought me the ball and wanted me to throw it, I would push it back to her so she knew she had to act on the ball instead of waiting for me to act on the ball and I think that was one of the most important Changes I made as she got further along in her training is given her the ball back so she hast to pick it up and at that point she can choose well if I keep giving it to him, he’s just gonna push it back to me, but if I put it in the machine, I get to go fetch it.

      Yes, lighting Color preferences are definitely something that’s personal. Everybody has the color they like. I’m 56 years old and grew up in a house with only incandescent lights that produce a warmer lighting and I like that, it makes me feel, happy and safe and warm. When the bright lights came out, you know the 5000 Kelvin lights, the light from them almost makes me feel a bit sick. Like I’m in an office setting. So that’s the way I look at it for me I prefer a warmer light. A lot of other people prefer the bright light or sunlight. Sounds like you have a pretty good set up, similar to mine but different brands. It works very well with my Alexa and every now and then I might have to delete the routine and re-add it into Alexa, but 99% of the time it’s great. Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately, the OBX stopped expanding as quickly on its own, including the famous dunes at Jocky’s Ridge, when modern human development disrupted the flow of wind and sand across the barrier islands. The surname "Gibson" is of Scottish and English origin. It is a patronymic surname, meaning it is derived from the given name of an ancestor. Specifically, it means "son of Gib," with "Gib" being a common medieval nickname for Gilbert. The name Gilbert itself comes from the Germanic name "Gisilbert," which means "bright pledge." Surnames like Gibson often emerged in the Middle Ages as a way to identify individuals by their parentage.

      We typically add back the minerals we lose by either using Aquasana packets or better yet, Mineral Pro replacement filters. When you look at the totality of the water, you drink in the food you buy, and when going out to restaurants to eat, I’m not 100% sure that mineral replacement is even necessary. However, when we give water to our dogs, we make sure that we do not give them the reverse osmosis filtered water.

    • @thehometipsshow
      @thehometipsshow 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the suggestion, but a refrigerator filter is nothing but a carbon filter. It’s a single stage and it can make the water taste a bit better but it is absolutely not gonna remove the dissolved solids in the water. I’m not planning on testing fridge filters at this time because 5 stage reverse osmosis Systems, like we have installed under our sink and costs a few hundred dollars, is far superior. If you are only worried about taste then a fridge filter is probably good enough for you. If you’re worried about dissolved solids, like pharmaceuticals and high levels of minerals, etc., then you need to go with a reverse osmosis system.

    It’s incredibly hard to watch anyone or any pet suffer. We made it to the vet about an hour after this video was shot. They put her on IV Opioids to get the pain under control. She’s been better ever since. We are five days after that appointment and no pain yet but she’s on very restricted movement. I have a playpen set up for babies that I put her in so she can’t run or jump on things, but it’s really hard to restrict her movement because she loves to play.

    She’s currently on muscle relaxers and gabapentin-both prescriptions that are aiding her until her upcoming appointment with NC State neurology. Sadly, that appointment isn’t scheduled until June. In the meantime, I have meloxicam on hand to administer should her pain intensify. Thankfully, she’s been resting comfortably for the past two days.

    Not bad. You may have hit a stud, but it is not supporting that wall. See deflection @ 14:29. May hold with long enough screws, and typically most are not putting pressure on wall that high.

      Mike, thank you for pointing that out; it highlights an important safety consideration. If you have a flimsy tub surround, you might not want to install a ADA compliant grab bar in the shower, direct to the surround. You may need to install the bar outside the shower, either above or completely outside the surround, over the drywall (making sure to hit a stud) to ensure stability. A flimsy surround might flex and create an unstable installation, which can be dangerous. For those facing this issue, consider the following options: 1. Reinforce the Surround: If you have access to the backside of the surround wall, you can add plywood, 2X4's, or another sturdy material behind the tub surround to provide additional support. 2. DO NOT USE ANCHORS! While these can offer extra stability if you can't find a stud, they do not provide a safe solution. Again, do not use drywall anchors! 3. Consult a Professional: If you're unsure about the installation, it's always a good idea to get professional advice. In my case, our tub surround, thank fully, is of good quality and utilizes reinforced fiberglass, so we're okay to install the ADA bar directly to the surround as long as we hit a stud underneath. This ensures a secure and safe installation. While I am a Residential General Contractor who has built many houses over the years, I did not build this house. Instead, because we were able to negotiation such a great deal on it, we purchased it from the orginal owners in 2019 (it was built in 2008). The original owners were wise and used quality material wherever they could, which contributed to our decision to buy it.

    next test label the cups with numbers as to not give away what's in them. Good vid though. Might have to grab an RO system.
