How We Conquered 120 Miles of Back Roads in 4 Hours: Epic Motocamping Adventure
As someone who is about to go to a msf course for first time and mever rode. His comment about laying down every bike is concerning. Is legit everyone crashing their bikes? Is it just expected?
I love the price but I need to be able to ride on the hwy. So im leaning to the CRF300ls
By the way, fuel efficiency is GREAT on these. Just reset your trip meter at each fill up and then you will know to refill at about 200 miles.
I loved mine. I was a dummy and sold it. Regretted it as the dude drove off with it. Thinking about buying another. All the complicated bullshit that comes on bikes now just to jack up the price is overkill. This bike here is what most of us need. Simple. Carb. Has rear drum. Heck YES! I done F'd up when sold it. Not a highway bike AT ALL - but that is JUST FINE with me.
Doohickey + 685cc kit + Thermo bob and you will get closer to 39hp to the rear wheel instead of the 36 when dyno'ed. Alot of people dont talk about this but Ecotrons in the USA makes a EFI kit for this bike with the 38mm throttle body. Which I plan to do.
Cool vids, its nice to see diffrent peoples take on where they take there KLR and different ways they enjoy it. I also love my 2015 KLR.
I just bought one today and picking it up tomorrow at the dealer. Thanks for the review man I can’t wait to ride it. Sorry about the accident with the drone bro.
I did 14500mi (23600km) in 3 seasons. Got recalled for throttling issues or idling dying but since then happy and kid with a new shiny toy.
I justo crossed Vietnam in one of those with offorad wheels - EXTREMELY CAPABLE
Just started watching your videos and I got to say they are so much fun to watch! Keep up doing the great work man.
It is a lot nimbler on twisty roads than an 800 lb bike has a right to be. The paddle shifter helps eliminate the lag - just downshift a gear and go, even in automatic mode.
The tw200 is like riding a tractor Slow low geared for crawling The xr150l is more of a dual sport highway in town and get you where you need to go without a lot of cost
Only issue I have is the availability of tires like Dunlop D606, or Michelin Anakee Wild Tire ….two examples of tires not available for a 19” and 17” rim like this Honda….
Just bought me a 24 klr this month (Dec). Videos like this help me through too cold to ride days. I live in Kansas as well.
I own one it’s just a lot of fun to ride!!!
I bought a 09. I liked it so much I also bought a 2012. I keep telling myself that I don't need 2 KLRs but can't bring myself to letting go of either. I then got myself a KLX 250 because the 650 was a ..... to ride on tight single tracks.
Just got my cb1100 last month, its been a blast for the few times ive ridden so far. Smooth as butter. I had a 07 fz6 and feel like it was very top heavy compared to the cb1100 bottom heaviness. It was a pain to maneuver around. Much prefer the bottom heavy.
Cheap but effective. It’s the KLR way.
Wow El Dorado Kansas is beautiful. Perhaps it was the winter light and the clouds. Stunning.
I was a broke college student that got by on an 88 Honda VTR250 I got at an auction for 600$ because no one wanted it and those were my beginnings. I no longer have that bike sadly but now I own 3 Hondas and love them all. Not a Honda fan boy but it was a stay with what i know because I've had to repair every bike I've ever bought and can tell you go ride more Hondas. Ride safe great video.
Glad you said something bout the service light diff im go with something else
its very 10k miles, so like 3-4 times through the ownership of bike. Might just service it in triumph. And change oil midway yourself
Reminds me of my old sl-100 it wasn’t the biggest or the fastest but it was FUN.
What gloves are those?
@@zutubetiles Fox PawTectors. I love them
where can we buy that kind engine cover sir,my country is in philippines
I have the exact same model, and I, like you, was unsure of the DCT. I've always been a clutch and toe shift guy, using gears, not only to accelerate, but also downshifting and saving a great deal of wear and tear on the brakes; HOWEVER, now that I've owned this bike for almost a year...I LOVE THE DCT! Just select the mode you want to travel in, and never have to worry about being in the wrong gear, or missing a shift. I can't say enough about this Goldwing. I've been riding motorcycles (and minibikes) since I was 8 years old (now turning 65), and recently rode my "Bagger" from South Padre Island, Texas, to Eureka Springs, Arkansas; spending a few days running through the "twisties" of northern Arkansas and south west Missouri, and back (about 2500 miles, total) and was so impressed how well it handles, and travels...again, can't say enough about it!!!
My experience of the bike the same as yours on the roads in the UK. Best bike in the world… 😃
Make sure you get the recalls done for the fuel fan issue and the trans bolt that can break the trans gears hopefully it doesn't happen while your riding the bike.
I have to agree and disagree. I have owned 3 Goldwings and I understand them. I cannot blame anyone for choosing the DCT but it's not for me. As for the looks of this model, I hate it. That flat look on the rear is well just to me "ugly" This bike looks so much better and balance with the trunk. I applaud some of the tech innovations but the bagger look is not it. Thanks for the video and be safe, have fun.
It's the ultimate Maxi Scooter
Grrrrr. You right tho!❤😂
Just like your MOM!
Only if you buy a DCT.
This, why are you here? That's all you got? " It's a maxi scooter?" I've ridden bikes since 1973 and so far the best has been my 22 GW DCT. You need to always remember something when making stupid comments like this. The traditional two wheel MOTORCYCLE started off as a BICYCLE that two gents in Germany decided pedaling was to hard and stuck a ICE in the frame, if anyone should be throwing "shade" at anyone it is the human powered "CYCLIST". Nuff said.
@@ramniksingh7702 Have ever ridden one?
Owned a Rebel 1100 DCT T That DCT is a GAME CHANGER. I encourage anyone if the opportunity is given to try one. I'm on my 3rd Harley, and as soon as it's paid off, I am trading it in for a Goldwing and maaaaan, I CANT WAIT!!!
Nice ride/review!
I have the 2023 DCT Tour and absolutely love it. I have to ask what is hanging below the left mirror bracket? Part of the reason for the low speed maneuvering feeling clumsy is due to the fact the bike has a dual wishbone front end suspension, which takes some getting used to.
Go pro mount
Your video was fun to watch, and I have a new appreciation for the bagger version you rode (mine’s a DCT Tour). Very badass.
If one keeps on back roads, why not?
Wait untill Honda slaps their "E-clutch" technology on it ( google is your friend) you will literally be able to have your cake and eat it too...if you want to. 😊
Nice review! I ride a HD ultra classic and I really want to try the GW dct!! I've always been a honda fan, owned several, even an 81 goldwing but this one intrigues me more than any other! Thanks for sharing
ive had every bike almost every brand ducati, hd, bmw, MG, you name it , picked up a dct gw tour and i love love love it, what an amazing machine, i feel a bit dorky on it but who cares
I would look at getting the 2023 since those come with fog lights.
i test rode a 24 Goldwing DCT; low speed maneuvering felt extremely clumsy and cumbersome. I'm sure it's a learning curve and gets much easier with practice. I prefer a clutch, shifter and quick shifter as that offers a more visceral connection to the bike; a DCT feels more sterile.
You are correct AND correct sir! You do learn the bike over time for low speed manuevers but it is a journey and having a clutch and gear shifter does give you a connection to the bike missing in a DCT. Honda realized this and its latest technology " E-clutch will be a complete game changer. The innovation has Goldwing written all over it. I can't wait! We are talking having your cake and eating it too..."if" you want too. 😊😊
@@dimitrispratling4785 what will Eclutch entail?
@@Nervedrazallow you to ride DCT style OR traditionally with a actual clutch and gearshifter. They are already offered on the CBRs.Search for rider reviews on it on TH-cam. Take care.😊
That’s my experience too. Look at Jerry Palladio’s videos to see how he made it work.
This is typically overlooked by reviewers who have little to no miles on the bike. But. Use auto mode in D or S but use the paddle shifters to set the engine rpm where you want it (just like a clutch bike). Poke the minus button twice when passing, and you’ll be glad you have the backrest. BTW that backrest was either improperly installed or wayyy out of adjustment. 50k purely delightful miles on mine…
Nice review. No clutch would definitely be weird. The forward and reverse crawling feature would be awesome, no more worrying about finding the perfect parking spot.
Awesome review! One recomendation would be to lower the audio at the start since it's hard to focus on what you're saying. I'd just say to cut the music until the b roll shot! Otherwise, i enjoyed the video!
D is crap! Put it into s2, it'll transform the gear change! 😂
Ya had me with the Dick Dale intro licks.....
You’ve got a lot of content for 230 subscribers, can’t wait to see more. Great content too.
Not into big touring bikes but this makes me want to try one!
Lol, "some dirt road"
I've got a 2006.. Kawasaki Green. I also enjoy riding the backroads. I like riding the powerline roads and the gas line roads of the So Cal desert. Oh, and I love Johnny Cash!!
Wicked excellent work!
Take a MSF class.... If you have crash bars on your bike cut and split small sections of garden hose and zip tie to your crash bars. Slow speed drills until you drop your bike so you really know your failure points. Former motor officer here and I do this on my Goldwing and ST1300 at least 2 times a year. Just go through the harder drills from motor school. Plenty of good drills from instructors on TH-cam.
Wear all gear all the time Especially boots
