I worked many trains with the Pclass a very good loco

So sad. I remember when that line used to be used by passengers, with a branch line to Grenfell. It will be sorely missed.

Wow! I was living in yound at that time it was great befor the railways closed that line. Awsome seeing the P class at speed along that old track i was holding my breath hahaha 😳 ! That line was a loss to the region and once more a big chunk of Australian history was gone, not to mention jobs! 😭 Bloody great vidio mate 🤠👍!

plenty of stuff there you don't see any more: GM12s, CLFs, South Spur K class, the list goes on... Give it a few years and this stuff will be seriously valuable. Worth going out for in all that rain!

Here's another SMR loco that hasn't been seen in action for a long while. I think #30 might've been "cannibalised" to get parts to restore #24 though I am only guessing.

I saw the thumbnail for this video and thought it had only just been posted. Such is my disappointment then, when I see this video was posted way back in 2009. Here was I thinking we may get to see this classic loco returning to Steamfest in 2018.

Government don't care about history. They just want to shut places down so that way they can either burn it down and claimed it to be a "mysterious Fire". Or claim it to be "unsafe", so they can build apartments that'll probably get abandoned in ten years time.

I love the trolley from 1896. It's gorgeous. Trolleys from the 'turn of the century' 1800's are marvels to look at.

Update on the proposed future of this line: Four Central West Councils have drafted a plan that would see the line refurbished and upgraded to carry heavier trains. I understand that over 200klms of track are involved. Unfortunately, it will depend on two factors, first they have to get the NSW Government to agree and, secondly, find an operator to lease it once it's upgraded...It's a big ask, but, here's hoping.

Great video. Is there a way of knowing at what time the freighters are due through, or is it a matter of turning up and waiting? What sort of frequency do they run through on the South Coast Line (when there is trackwork on the Southern Highlands)? Thanks.

@critchley3819 Sadly, the situation has now become worse... a flood last year destroyed over a kilometre of track and viaducts about 35 klms south of Cowra...I was down there a week ago...took a lot of photo and vidoes.... it is a sad sight...it would cost a packet to repair it (given the other damaged areas on this line). I don't think Lachlan Valley Railway (or anyone) now have a hope in hell of reusing this line.

@pyrofella I guess nothing can last forever but for these magnificant machines there should be an exception,no matter what the cost.

Given the now present condition of the track, I doubt we'll ever see this again...LVR have moved out and there is little evidence of them ever returning. There was a lot of talk for a while of LVR re-opening the line, but it seems that's all it was...just high hopes.....Cowra has all but forgotten they were here....and that is sad.

@roadwolf2 Nah, they wern't moved, the goods lines never really met up with all the stations as far as I know, it was simply a goods line between Darling Harbour and Botany Bay, not to mention southern lines, thhe cameraman is sdanding on the passenger platforms that have dedicated rails for passenger trains.

I noticed the track doesn't follow the platform like it was moved or something
