I currently race a 1967 Porsche 910, a 1960 Lotus 22 and a 1960 Porsche 356 Roadster. I previously raced 1963 Elva Mk7 that was originally owned by Bobby Rahal's father who raced it throughout the midwest in the mid 60s. I also previously owned a 1960 Cooper T-52 Formula Junior.
CSRG Formula Junior Duel
Matt Schiefferly and I go at it in Formula Juniors at the 2024 CSRG Charity Classic. We went back and forth all weekend with generally a tenth of a second or two between us. This is Saturday's race, which was pretty epic, with several side-by-side turns in turns 7 and 11 at Sonoma Raceway. Great times!

This is a shorten session due to full course yellow in the 2023 Velocity Invitational Mini vs. Mustang Enduro. The plan was a father/son racing team but the car had issues nearly every session. But this clip has some epic racing against a friend Dave Cooper. These Mini's are amazing to race.

I drive a 1967 Porsche 910 in Group 6 of the Velocity Invitational at Laguna Seca. I had a couple of small mechanical issues so I started at the back of the grid, which made for a lot of passing and good video. Unfortunately, my camera turned off and I didn't catch the last 3 laps of the video when I duel with a Corvette who had his elbows out. @VelocityInvitational @Porsche

I started P1 and drove away from the group except for my friend Chip Fudge in his Chevron B16. We had an exciting last three laps battling back and forth. Great fun racing with friends.

When you say Cortina, I know you really mean Escort! 😉 Defo looked slippery out there! Nice driving as ever and I LOVE that 910!
Good catch, sorry about that!
Can I ask what engine is in this 910 as there were a few motor variants in what I believe was only 29 built cars between 1967-68. Is it still original?
It’s the correct 1991 cc flat six with mechanical fuel injection.
Epic footage!!! Love the captions and I reckon you mate in the Chevron was looking in the mirror when he went wide .. marvelling at the sight of your 910 on his tail. Sweet sounds and vision. Love it here in Sydney 🦘 Australia 🇦🇺

😍😍😍 driving classic racecars on a track! Yes please!!
This is just soooooo delicious to watch. Great driving. Thank you so much for posting. And yes, that was indeed a potent 2.0 litre 906.
Nicely done, and good to see some vintage Porsches being driven at pace!
"pretty serious car fire " same place as Michael Delaney's 917 shunt 🎬📽️
Legendary car, thanks for the ride👍 but that shift linkage looks sloppy? especially in 5th gear. My 1959 Beetle didn't do that 🤔. ✌️🇺🇲
It was sloppy. Somehow in transit it got tweaked, it's not usually like that:-)
Are you sure that that is a Bobsy? The reason I ask is that, back in the day, my brother ran a Porsche powered Bobsy SR3, then an SR4. The orange car doesn't Look like a Bobsy... Good racing!!!
You’re right. The orange Bobsy was behind me, that’s a Platypus with a flat 6.
What gearboxe was used in the 910? Was it a modified version of the 915?
It’s the period correct 901 dog leg box.
@@dhagan-racer that was my next guess! Thanks for responding. Great car, wonderful race and event. I was one of those gazillion fans cheering from the corkscrew
Great driving Dave, love the smooth and always in time downshifting 🥰
Fantastic racing with beautiful cars the way it should be. Thank you so much for sharing the video.
❤ very nice video. Thanks a million for making this available.
❤ thanks a million for that video.i really enjoyed watching it in addition to the real thing on Friday and Saturday on site at Laguna Seca. The sound alone is worth it!
Great drive Dave! Fun being on track with you. Sorry for holding you up with a couple of missed shifts. Looking forward to more battles to come -#88
This is quite on pace. Loved to see this scene of organic racing action.
I was at Rennsport 7 and totally enjoyed every minute of the event
That engine sounds unbelievable!
Great video that car looks like a handful!
Beautiful driving you did!!!
Which is better CARRERA 906 or CARRERA 910?
Can’t believe you got passed by a 911! That it is even competitive?
Big motor in that car, look at how it out pulls me on the straights.
@@dhagan-racer interesting…just thought with that chassis you’d have a huge advantage…does say something about horsepower, even on a road course!
@@jeffreybell5306 well, I did best him the following weekend at the Reunion. I have a 1991 cc motor and the gearing isn’t perfect, first time I’ve driven it in this configuration at Laguna Seca, so it took me some time to find the speed.
Into turn one it looks like you go from 5th to 2nd. Is that correct? If so what revs does it hit when you hit second? Do you coast a little to not blow the engine?
@@fittipaldi7326 it’s actually 4th to second. It’s a dogleg 901 box. I’m upshifting to 4th just before the braking zone, it’s a pretty slow turn, going to second isn’t a problem. Note how long before I up shift to third after the turn. Redline is 8200.
that little ST can boogie
this car looks like so much fun!
I was photographing Plateau 5 all weekend, just beyond the Dunlop Bridge, driver's right, just behind the tires for the 1:00 pm session. I'll see if I have any shots of you... I was also at the Indianapolis Corner for the 10 pm race and at the Porsche Curves at 4:45 am. What an event! A lot of yellow, but still amazing! So much history!! studio.th-cam.com/users/video0JRuWtaxbYY
Thanks so much for posting this! I'll get to Le Mans one day and I think I'd rather go to the Le Mans Classic more than the main event! I don't know that there is anything more enjoyable than watching 60s and early 70s era Porsche race cars. I love them. And the 910 is at the top of that list with the 908 Spyder and, of course, the epic 917.
It’s an amazing place. 230,000 fans for the vintage race, 800 race cars, 8000 car Club cars…it’s over the top.
This is ao ben
Fantastic footage. But are the cars now run to a safer formula? I see seat belts, but are there roll cages as well? Or hidden airbags? And what is the effect of using modern tyres, lights and brake compounds? Obviously the modern iteration of Le Mans is so much safer, but I expect a lot still depends upon the weather, or would it be red-flagged under torrential rain?
I've never ever seen a race car with airbags. These cars are run exactly as they were back in the day. I'm sure the tyres are better though.
@@MD-uu5nt Yes probably the tyres in the heavy rain were the leading cause of fatality. I suppose it's like the IOM TT racers, they all know the risks, even the latest cars have some terrible crashes, but obviously not as frequent as in the 60s and early 70s.
Seat belts, fuel cells and fire suppression systems are new, but otherwise cars run as they did in period. They do run in the rain, I had one practice session in the middle of the night that I skipped, due to a downpour, but I did have rain tires in case there was rain during the race.
Is he downshifting 6th to 3rd?
I sometimes downshift 5th to 3rd, it’s easier than the 4th to 3rd shift in this car.
@@dhagan-racer thanks for the response….I’m sure I’ve seen you race. I’m up in Aptos and go to Laguna frequently. Amazing car!
Awesome! I can see myself on the inside wall of pit lane. What a cool race that was!
I took some pictures of the 910! Such a great car, shame you guys had those mechanical problems on Saturday. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QAMqVDqpVtCkaD4vKRHWsDdTCCiOQTdq?usp=sharing

@@dhagan-racer Thanks! Love seeing the 910 out there!
Great drive Dave! You did indeed pass me as you state in the caption although as you know under a yellow with a couple laps to go. All good! :)
Great driving! Again!
Nice video, beautiful sounding car, nice to see someone use their head in vintage "racing".
Great drive!
I was hanging out at turn 11 on Friday morning during your session and saw a huge wreck where a driver got tangled up in another car and ended up barrel rolling. I hope that no one was injured. Is this with a go pro ? The sound with this camera is pleasantly good. Thanks for posting.
Yep, that’s was pretty awful. Driver that flipped hurt his arm but luckily nothing too serious. This a GoPro with a sound reduction foam cover, works pretty well.
It was a fun event. Great video--thanks for sharing!
