How Prolific Street Artist Became a Contemporary Painter | EP08 | ARTSTRY
Tom Gerrard’s journey from graffiti to fine art is as distinctive as his style. A self-taught painter with a background in graphic design, Tom’s keen understanding of composition and his use of bold, flattened colour schemes give his work a fresh edge.
Tom’s art reflects a vibrant mix of his past and present. Growing up in Melbourne’s Western suburbs and surrounded by multicultural influences, his work is inspired by childhood memories, his environment, and his travels.
Today, Tom’s painting process is both inventive and meditative. He seamlessly moves between canvases, applying colours where needed before switching hues, helping him to stay in the creative zone for longer. Guided by a philosophy of creating for himself as well as for collectors, Tom believes his best work comes from the freedom of personal expression.
Tom continues to make his mark in the art world, blending his graffiti roots, design expertise, and signature techniques to create work that is raw, graphical, and authentically his own.
As Tom puts it, "You become a soup of all past things you've done creatively"

Hello from the other side of the world (Canada). You do amazing work. Your videos are the only ones I listen to from start to finish. They are very inspirational. The process is as inspiring as the finished product you show at the end. You are lucky to be doing wood working for a living. I hope to retire in a few years to do just that. In the meantime I will dream of those days and continue watching you work. Thanks for sharing.
Hello from this side of world (Sydney, Australia). Thank you for your comment! We hope you are able to do your dream of wood working in retirement (or earlier).
